Vice President Matthew Keath

Hello, my Name is Matthew Keath, and I am the current Vice President of Dictum, after being the careers director last year. I’m currently in my final year here at VU I came to the law as a mature age student. For many years I was the owner of a web services firm.

My favourite book? I love reading so I’m not sure I can reduce it to one, but one book that had a huge impact was 1984 by George Orwell When it comes to movies, I’m going to say the 90’s classic Aussie film The Castle, because it’s the only film Aussie comedy I know about the Australian Constitution, and it has some great lines. (Tell ‘em their dreaming!).

Law and society is always something I have been interested in. During a legal matter I was involved in, I mentioned –again - that I would enjoy being a lawyer and helping people solve disputes, particularly when someone was being screwed over My wife said, do it – I’ll support you, and in two months I had started my law journey at VU.

I look forward to meeting and supporting students in my position in 2023 Please reach out if you would like to catch up for a chat.

I completed my Advanced Diploma of Legal Studies before starting the bachelor degree in 2021. While I have kept an open mind during my studies, I still have a keen interest in dispute resolution, crime and family law, and are currently considering going to the bar I am also a Nationally Accredited mediator.
