• Capital Repairs Needed • Not Handicapped Accessible • Technology Lacking • No Library • Limited Kitchen (BES) – No cooking allowed • No Playing Fields (BES)
CURRENT ACADEMIC CHALLENGES •
Four Kindergarten Classes in TC
•
Need an additional Grade 1 next year to keep class size under 27
•
Art and Music share use of the cafeteria at TC.
•
Music and Art share a classroom at BES.
•
Gym at TC is in a small classroom
•
There is no space for special education services at TC
•
The only place for gym and recess at BES is a paved lot
CHALLENGES FOR STUDENTS •
A child with a broken leg had to change classrooms because there was no way to get him to the third floor where his regular class is located.
•
Third grade students had to be bused to the middle school for the new PARCC test because BES could not accommodate the technology necessary.
•
Extended day is located at the middle school requiring students to be bused, because handicapped students could not access the program at BES or TC
•
Students do not have access to internet resources because wireless connections do not work at BES
REPAIRING THE BUILDINGS East Templeton is an excellent example as to why repairing the buildings is not a good idea. Some of the repairs necessary will require the students to be moved to another location while they are being completed. Even with repair we will continue to have the handicapped accessible issues We would not be able to add the things that are missing, (gym, kitchen, more rooms)
WE ARE TRYING TO OFF-SET THE IMPACT OF THE DESIGN PHASE THROUGH DONATIONS DONATIONS ARE ALREADY COMING IN TO SUPPORT THE NEW SCHOOL WE CAN DO THIS IF WE WORK TOGETHER
