Changing the Dialysis Experience
Designed by a Dialysis Patient...
Being able to dialyze in a comfortable setting, with a staff that is dedicated to providing the support necessary to balance life on dialysis, is the focus of our dialysis center. With input from one of our co-founders, Neill Simon, himself a dialysis patient, our service and amenities were carefully selected with that purpose in mind.
When entering the clinic, guests are greeted by a spa-like environment with a soothing decor, a complimentary gourmet coffee bar and crushed iced machine. Equal attention has been given to the dialysis area. Each patient has a large, partitioned section that is their own personal space. Within that area they have a heated recliner with optional massage, a flat panel television with chair-side Internet access via a touch screen monitor. Guests can access movies, books, music, e-mail and more while they dialyze. These amenities afford the opportunity to use time on dialysis for leisure, learning or work. Patients comment that the personal attention from staff, soft ambient lighting and serene atmosphere at Dialyspa has changed their dialysis experience. Beyond the tangible amenities, we are committed to providing each patient with individualized care and attention. Maintaining staff to patient ratios that surpass industry standards (3:1 patient to technician and 9:1 patient to nurse), having a full-time nutritionist and on-site social worker, offering patient support groups and guest patient services are some of the intangible amenities Dialyspa offers at all of our dialysis centers. Our other co-founder, Jeff Kalina, an emergency physician, witnessed firsthand the effects of insufficient emergency dialysis facilities during Hurricanes Katrina and Ike and made it his mission to ensure every dialysis patient would have access to round-the-clock care in times of crisis. Dialyspa has emergency provisions we feel are unmatched by any other dialysis center in Houston.
