Nearly 40% of Hong Kong Home Furnishings and Home Textiles Fair exhibitors expect to increase sales in 2019

The Home & Textiles Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, concluded on March 23. The four-day exhibition attracted nearly 47,000 buyers from one hundred and twenty-one countries and regions to visit and buy. There was an encouraging increase in the number of buyers from all markets, with over 28,000 buyers visiting the exhibition and close to 19,000 buyers visiting the Home Textiles exhibition. 北歐特色家品 Mr. Chow Kai Leung, Vice President of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said that building smart homes has become an important part of urban life and the Council is pleased to see more exhibitors developing and launching more smart home products, which will drive buying demand. In addition, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council continues to cooperate with a number of other ASEAN economies, proactively inviting our local producers and buyers can participate, and home products exhibition ad hoc "Excellence ASEAN" showcase for the industry, as well as from a selection of Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam and other places travel products. An independent survey was commissioned to interview 535 buyers and exhibitors during the Home Show to gauge their views on the market outlook, product trends and some topical issues. The survey revealed that the industry is cautiously optimistic about the outlook for the domestic market in 2019, with 37% of respondents expecting overall sales to increase in 2019 compared to 2018 and 51% expecting overall sales to be flat in 2019. In addition, mature corporate markets, Japan (67%), China to develop Taiwan (66%) and China for Hong Kong (65%) ranked among the top three regions where growth prospects are ideal; while emerging industry market economies remain China as the mainland (70%) and the rest of ASEAN (67%). In terms of product trends, the products with the greatest growth potential are green products (16%), kitchenware and accessories (15%) and furniture (10%). Minimalist design (43%), fashion design (41%) and multipurpose products (30%) remain the top product design styles for
