Is Your Home Guarded Against Coronavirus?

Introduction We are aware of the adverse effects that have taken place in the wake of coronavirus, thereby making our homes the safest place on earth. With the advent of such difficult times, we are following a plethora of rules and regulations to keep ourselves safe while taking care of others as well. However, is our home actually the safe place without us disinfecting the space? While it is true that nothing is safer than a home considering the current situation, follow these tips to make every nook and cranny of your living space free from germs, bacteria and viruses.

Factors You Need to Consider Before Disinfecting Your Home READ THE LABEL: Make sure to read the ingredient list of the home cleaner or the disinfectant to ensure that it has potent chemicals strong enough to strike out any germ. Products like Lysol, Dettol, Savlon, etc. are worth the use. SANITIZING & DISINFECTING ARE DIFFERENT: Sanitizing reduces the risk of illness unlike disinfecting which kills the germs causing the illness. NO SANITIZER OR DISINFECTANT CAN WORK 100%: Therefore, clean your home repeatedly to avoid the growth of germs or spread of viruses.

DIY HOUSEHOLD CLEANER INGREDIENTS Regular Chlorine Bleach (Sodium Hypochlorite)- 1/3 Cup 1-gallon water every 1/3 cup of bleach Cotton Cloth

METHOD Mix 1/3 cup of regular chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite) bleach to per gallon of water. You can make smaller batches using 4 teaspoons of regular chlorine bleach and mixing with 1 quart of water.

HOW TO USE Take a clean, cotton cloth, soak it into the mixture, wring the excess and wipe the surface. Let the solution stay in contact with the surface for five minutes and air dry. Make a fresh solution every day and wear gloves while using it.

ARE ALCOHOL & VINEGAR EFFECTIVE?

ALCOHOL: Isopropyl alcohol is extremely strong enough to kill pathogens, including coronavirus. The only requirement is that the concentration has to have 70% of the element. Maximum alcohol-based disinfectants are 70% isopropyl alcohol, but the concentration may vary from 60% to 99%.

VINEGAR: Experts believe that vinegar-based cleaners are weak in killing bacteria or viruses. Hence, using it to get a germ-free home is not possible.

At present, Kolkata is in a critical condition with people getting affected by the virus. Hence, whether you are staying in a ready flat in North Kolkata or anywhere in the city, make sure to clean your home to keep it germ-free.
