Emergency services, charities and aid groups worked tirelessly across the country to address the massive need from Hurricane Harvey. Here are just a few ways Workforce staff and our Mobile Workforce Unit were able to give back to the communities.

“We deployed our Mobile Workforce Unit to those in need in the Victoria area when the Golden Crescent Board was ready for it. During the week it was deployed, Golden Crescent staff were able to assist 86 customers in seven locations around Victoria in need of workforce assistance and services.” – David Setzer, Executive Director

“Being able to assist was very heartwarming for me and my family. My son’s school held a fundraiser, and we volunteered raising donations to assist those in need.” – Stephanie Roberts

“Witnessing my own children’s enthusiasm to give up their own belongings, then seeing all the stories of other children doing the same thing tells me that our future is in good hands.” – Adam Kern

“I was deployed by the Texas State Guard in August for 10 days. It was a very humbling experience to be able to serve and assist those affected by the storm.” – Jack Snow

“I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Emergency Operations Center in Dallas, and it was an experience I will never forget. It’s amazing to see so many organizations and agencies come together to help meet the needs of the evacuees, ranging from offering medical assistance and providing necessary essentials to taking care of rescued pets.” – Dana Buckholt “I participated in the “Purse Project” at the North Central Texas Council of Governments that was sponsored by A Honey of A Deal Boutique for women affected by Hurricane Harvey. Some 400 purses containing personal items and essentials, were donated by people all across the region!” –Angela Alcedo

“I was deployed with the Texas State Guard Army Component to the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas. It is an honor to serve fellow Texans in their time of need and recovery.” – Earl Woolbright
