Diamond duo
London based sisters Christie and Rosanna Wollenberg are the brains behind Otiumberg, a jewellery line with ethical credentials that is fast becoming a favourite with many A-listers
For siblings Christie and Rosanna, sharing has always come naturally. When they lived together in London at the start of their careers, they often swapped jewellery as they styled their outfits. Now the pair stand together at the helm of Otiumberg, a jewellery collection of luxury pieces for everyday wear.
It was back in 2016 that the sisters founded the business, which specialises in earrings, necklaces and rings crafted in solid gold, gold vermeil and sterling silver. Their understated designs are now stocked by Harvey Nichols, Liberty London and Browns and have been styled by high profile actresses including Emma Watson, Olivia Colman, Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone.
Artistic influence
Rosanna, who is four years younger, explains, “Christie made a pair of diamond huggie earrings and name necklaces in the Middle East when she was working there with Louis Vuitton in her early twenties, and gifted them to our family. They were so beautiful that friends started to ask about them. So, we began with a collection of small solid gold huggies and sold them to our close friends.”
Christie adds, “We quickly realised that there was an opportunity to create jewellery that was meaningful, beautifully crafted yet more accessible than the fine jewellery category. We envisioned pieces that went with us everywhere, that felt part of us.”
All in the name
Christie and Rosanna amalgamated the ‘berg’ of their family name with the Latin word ‘otium’ which means leisure time devoted to artistic endeavours, and Otiumberg was born. With the combination of Christie’s talent and Rosanna’s background in luxury branding, the business flourished. Word spread on social media and soon high-end retail partners became interested in the brand.
meets the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Giving back
Otiumberg champions charities both at home and abroad. Rosanna explains, “We have a Giving Fund which strives to donate close to one per cent of sales every year to causes that empower and uplift women and children. As part of that, we work with Choose Love: the proceeds from our Choose Love necklace support displaced women and children. We also support London-based Smart Works by donating jewellery to the women that come through their network. Recently we partnered with the Pratthanadee Foundation in Thailand, close to where we make our jewellery. This foundation seeks to build the confidence and potential of young women from less fortunate regions. We believe, as a brand with a global supply chain, that our giving should extend beyond London.”
New horizons
There was an opportunity to create jewellery that was meaningful, beautifully crafted yet more accessible
The sisters had no external investment, but grew Otiumberg steadily, concentrating on the creation of an organisation that is a true reflection of their own values. This strategy paid off and, last year, Otiumberg was awarded B Corp status meaning that it
Since 2022 Otiumberg has been based at a by-appointment boutique in London Bridge but this autumn sees the launch of a flagship store in the heart of Holland Park. Rosanna says, “We're really excited about our store on Portland Road, it's a quaint and quintessential London street with its own local community of residents and businesses. We’ve designed the space ourselves adding personal touches to make it warm and inviting.”
CHRISTIE & ROSANNA WOLLENBERG
We believe, as a brand with a global supply chain, that our giving should extend beyond London
Christie and Rosanna’s minimalist aesthetic is popular in the US and Japan, and a favourite collaboration has been with Camilla and Marc, an Australian ready-to-wear label. Christie explains, “Camilla and Marc are also a sibling creative duo and the collection was all about ear cuffs, achieving a stacked look with no piercings required. What is wonderful is that we found that women of all ages bought them and now we bring out a new cuff for the Otiumberg collection each season.”
Side by side
The Wollenberg sisters share a business but their roles within it are defined. Christie says, “I am the creative director, so my days usually start with a meeting – brainstorming, sketching or reviewing concepts. Aside from design, Rosanna and I work together, so our days vary depending on what meetings we have in place.” Rosanna agrees that no one day is the same, adding, “That’s what I love most about running a business! My role is all encompassing across managing the brand; whether that’s working on the store design or our B Corp progress, it’s a full 360. Most days, we’ll squeeze some time in for a walk together to clear our minds and catch-up sister to sister.”
Although the women are both married and no longer live together, achieving sister time is still easy as the pair are next door neighbours in Wimbledon. This is particularly beneficial for Christie who juggles work with three children. She says “My kids jump over the wall to Auntie Ro’s house, and she can give them a quick hug as they run out the door to school. It’s really quite special. It also means we can take late calls with the US in one of our houses, and early morning calls with Australia before heading into work, so it’s very practical.”
As siblings, Christie and Rosanna seem to have the perfect relationship; as founders of Otiumberg, the pair have obviously hit on a winning dynamic which is taking their business to Holland Park and beyond.

Christie & Rosanna's London
• What is your favourite London memory?
Rosanna: Spending Fridays with my husband at Unit 31, an open studio in Limehouse where every week the house musicians hosted performers across jazz, neo-soul, poetry and rap. It felt exciting, like we were part of a new grassroots music moment.
• Where do you like to eat in the capital?
Christie: On a daily basis the little Italian deli Speck on Portland Road next to our store is delicious.
• Where do you go to unwind?
Rosanna: Menorca, where we have a family home and spent all our summers growing up. For both of us, sitting on the balcony looking at the sea immediately washes away any exhaustion.
• What or who have you got on speed dial?
Christie: My husband – the human who has allowed me to build Otiumberg while having our family; the chef of the house, and all-round saving grace!
• London’s best kept secret is...
Rosanna: Swimming! There are so many incredible spots to swim which you wouldn't necessarily expect. I also adore Italo deli which is hidden away in Vauxhall.
• Who is on your radar?
Christie: The artist Joshua Perkin – I'm a big fan of his work and we have a piece by him in our boutique which represents sisterhood.
Rosanna: I’ve always got an eye on new restaurants as London’s food scene is so exciting. I’m looking forward to trying OMA in Borough Market and Henri in Covent Garden soon.
Homes with history
Mews houses have long been a part of London's property heritage with demand for these rarely available luxury homes at an all-time high
For those who wish for a property with a past, the mews house offers layers of history. However, these magical streets are found in only a few areas of the capital, making homes there very sought after.
Dating back to the 18th Century, the mews were originally humble accommodation for the horses and staff who served the large houses of wealthy London residents. Often adjoining the gardens of grand residences, the mews buildings usually possessed no windows at the back. The echoes of a bygone age are revealed in their cobbled streets which provided a hard-wearing surface to withstand the clatter of hooves.
Rare gems
These properties are in short supply as James Staite, Director of Dexters Marylebone, explains, “Desirability is strong and consistent for mews homes because there are not many in existence outside certain parts of prime central London. You will find them in Marylebone, Mayfair, parts of Westminster and also in
Kensington and Chelsea – the areas of old central London where you have big houses.”
During World War II the aristocracy began to get used to the idea of needing less staff and, after the war, with the rise of the motor car, there wasn’t the same necessity for horses. As staff and animals gradually vacated the mews, many of the buildings fell into disrepair and some were bought or rented by car mechanics and taxi firms.
Desirability is strong and consistent for mews properties because there are not many in existence
Swinging sixties
In the sixties, when London became the place to be, a mews property was an affordable way for the movers and shakers in fashion and music to live in the
best parts of the capital. The typical mews building incorporated a stables and coach house on the ground floor with a hayloft and accommodation above, and now the disused structures could be purchased for reasonable sums and converted into private homes. It was during this time that Michael Caine moved into a mews near Hyde Park and made his most iconic films, Alfie and The Italian Job. Scenes from the latter were filmed in another mews, Denbigh Close in Notting Hill. More recently Kynance Mews in South Kensington had a starring role in the Netflix series You.
Heavenly haven
Today, these properties have been beautifully updated for modern living while retaining genuine kerbside appeal. James says, “Mews properties are attractive to people looking for a central location that’s quiet. They offer privacy and we receive enquiries from high-profile individuals who are looking to tuck themselves away.”
“It is worth noting that most mews are situated in designated conservation areas so there will be building restrictions.
James continues, “It is very rare that you can change much externally but internally many have engaged creative architects to reconfigure the layout. A few years ago, I saw one where they had dug down into the basement and built a swimming pool. These days I think people are more focused on creating as much living accommodation as possible. The garage space can be transformed to make an extra bedroom or another reception room.”

Up on the roof
Most mews houses don’t usually come with gardens, James explains: “It may be that you have a small seating area at the front where you can have attractive flower pots. That said, if you can gain
Mews house collection
consent for a roof terrace you can create a lovely outside area.”
According to James, prospective buyers and tenants range from well-known individuals who are after the privacy offered by mews homes, to families who want to live in a central location and be close to good schools. “Some people use a mews as their main residence while others might use it as a second home. For instance, they drive back to London on a Sunday night, park
and live there for the week and then go back to the country for the weekend.”
From humble staff accommodation to highly desirable luxury homes, mews properties are constantly in demand as buyers and tenants are keen to secure a slice of London history.

A cellars market
For wine connoisseurs, a bespoke cellar, room or display wall is an absolute must when showcasing their collections
The traditional wine cellar is no longer necessarily tucked away in the basement. Those with extensive collections of wine are increasingly looking for storage solutions that are both practical and pleasing to the eye. Whatever your style preference, creating a designated space to appreciate and enjoy beautiful bottles will enhance any residence.
The glass ceiling
Simon Coombs, Head of Client Services at Cellar Maison, says, “Nowadays designs tend to be far more intricate with different finishes and materials, such as onyx and antique bronze. Clients will say they want a prominent display in one of their properties and the whole process of planning, designing and implementing will take time because of the level of
detail required. One memorable project is above a gym and snooker room with glazed panels that overlook the snooker room. You go up a steel staircase to a beautiful classic wine room with a ladder that enables you to reach up and collect your bottles. It is incredible and took a long time to come to fruition.”
Show not tell
Managing Director of Spiral Cellars, Lucy Hargreaves says, “Historically, people hid their cellars but now they want to show them off. We find nearly everybody goes for a glass trap door in their spiral cellar.”
Invented by a Frenchman nearly five decades ago, the spiral cellar involves digging out around six skips of soil and the installation of a rubber liner. The deepest cellar is three metres and can accommodate 1,600 bottles in 24 bins made from white limestone concrete.
Spiral Cellars also build bespoke timber wine rooms and Lucy has just broadened the product range to encompass a modular system made from limestone concrete that can fit any space. She explains “We identified that people want to collect wine but they don’t necessarily want storage for 1,000 or 2,000 bottles. This applies particularly to the younger market who are just getting into wine but may not be in their forever home, so investing in significant may be a step too far.
The designs tend to be far more intricate with different finishes and materials, such as onyx
Cellar Maison
“ The new range is adaptable and can go in alcoves on either side of a fireplace, for example.”
If you are having a dinner party there’s no point opening a single bottle, you might as well open a double magnum!
Climate control
Aesthetics matter but ensuring perfect cellar conditions is of paramount importance. Tim Lewis, who owns Sorrells Custom Wine Rooms, says, “Storage should be at 13 to 15 degrees and between 60 and 75 per cent humidity. We look at the area and then we build the unit to suit. We are very conscious of ensuring that the doors have the best seals and we will encase ultraviolet light into the system to
counter any mould which could affect the wine.”
Sorrells have their own metal workshop and Tim is seeing the use of both wood and metal in wine room commissions.
“It’s about finessing your cellar,” he says, “We’ll put leather handles on some of the drawers and, if a metal door is a bronze colour we may inlay bronze into the drawers to carry the theme through the design.”
Bigger is better
Tim is also seeing demand for storage for bigger bottles. “Champagne walls are becoming increasingly popular to display Salmanazars and Imperials for example. If you are having a dinner party there’s no point opening a single bottle, you might as well open a double magnum!”
So whether you purchase wine for pleasure or as an investment, the perfect bespoke space will not only keep your collection pristine but add to your enjoyment and, ultimately, to the value of your home.

Demand remains high in this affluent area that sees city living blended with a strong community spirit
Balancing city living with a village atmosphere, properties in prime west London are highly desirable. With over 35 years of experience between them, Camila and Alex discuss why demand to live in this part of London is at an all-time high.
What draws people to this part of London?
Alex: There is the perfect blend of city living and residential charm. Areas like Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush offer a vibrant cultural scene with plenty of shops and transport links, ideal for professionals. Chiswick and Ealing are home to beautiful parks, excellent schools and a strong community spirit which is well-liked by families.
Why do clients choose to work with Dexters?
Camila: We are the local experts and have extensive market knowledge. Many are impressed by the high number of viewings and strong interest we generate. Only 3 out of every 20 viewings arranged come from online portals, we generate the rest by being proactive and picking up the phone. This success is down to our experienced and hardworking teams who arrange up to 50,000 viewing appointments every month.
Alex: We have a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and have over 65,000 Google reviews with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars. Not only that but our Property Management service is highly rated, landlords use us because they always have a dedicated Property Manager no more than 15 minutes away from any property in their portfolio.
Who are your typical clients and customers?
Camila: Prime west London has become a hotspot for families living both in the UK and internationally, young professionals, and even the occasional celebrity. We work with a high number of investors who are attracted by the area’s strong rental yields.

Alex: People from all over the world want to live here. We work closely with our Corporate Services team who are seeing unprecedented demand and are receiving over 200 enquiries each week from embassies and major corporations looking to relocate their staff to this part of London.
What advice would you give to sellers and landlords?
Camila: When selling or letting we advise that properties are well-presented and competitively priced, kerb appeal matters so invest in minor renovations and staging if necessary. For sellers especially, it's important to be organised and prepared; choose an agent you trust and instruct your solicitor in the early stages. Our teams spend on average over 200 hours working on a successful transaction, ensuring a smooth process and achieving great results for our clients.
Alex: For landlords, presentation is key. Homes must be cared for to attract high-quality tenants to achieve the best price. Our Design & Refurbishment team specialises in getting properties ready for the market and is on hand to discuss the options to suit each client. They have extensive knowledge and an excellent track record, their services range from staging a property to complete renovations.
What do you love most about the area?
Alex: The unique combination of lively city life and tranquil residential areas. Each neighbourhood has its own character and charm and there is something for everyone. Whether it’s bustling markets and entertainment venues or leafy parks and a village atmosphere, there’s a wonderful diversity that all contribute to making prime west London a fantastic place to live and work.

The modern home
New Homes Director Anna Truman discusses London’s first-class residential developments and why the demand for these new homes continues to rise
From luxury apartments to futuristic houses, the demand for new build property remains high. Greener building techniques, increased energy efficiency, and facilities focused on lifestyle and wellness are making modern living a desirable alternative to period properties. Dexters sell and let 700 new homes a year and are currently working on over 100 sites, from large multi-unit high-rise buildings to smaller exclusive offerings in prime London, partnering with some of the most highly regarded developers in the industry from the UK and around the world.
Anna explains, “We achieve marketleading values because we provide clients with the full scope of Dexters’ extensive database and network. Our local teams across the capital work alongside our New Homes experts, all strategically positioned in our centres of excellence in central, north and east, south and west, and south east London. This joined-up approach gives our
clients access to over 200,000 registered buyers and tenants looking for their new home. We are the local experts and no one knows the London market better than us.”
Dexters support the entire lifecycle of new developments, from conception and planning through to sales or rentals, and are highly skilled in coordinating the appropriate marketing and strategy required for a successful result. This includes selling land and development opportunities, providing initial pricing and identifying buyer and tenant profiles, handling phased releases and managing on-site sales and lettings teams as well as selling to overseas international buyers and tenants.
London property is regarded as a safe and profitable long-term investment
Anna adds, “For example, we were recently instructed on Castanea Court, an impressive development with 83 loft-style apartments. The New Homes team worked alongside our local offices and successfully secured 14 sales before the launch event. The local lettings team went on to secure tenants for over half of the rental units in the first weekend alone and the remaining units were quickly snapped up. The team went above and beyond to ensure no opportunities were missed and that first-class service was provided.”
PR is another key ingredient and there is strong demand from journalists wanting to feature the latest residential landmark buildings and the new communities they create. Dexters’ in-house Press team, based in Mayfair, are in regular contact with key
publications so our clients can be confident that they will receive maximum visibility on a global scale.
London property is regarded as a safe and profitable long-term investment and new homes require minimal upkeep and maximum comfort, which is why it attracts overseas buyers and further heightens the competition. Anna explains, “Dexters’ active customer database extends beyond our exceptional coverage in London to an international network of partners and brokers who we collaborate with to ensure exposure of our sites across Hong Kong, Singapore and the Middle East.”
Anna continues “Customers and clients want to work with an agent they can trust and one of the many reasons they choose to work with us repeatedly is that we are one of only a few London Estate Agents regulated by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). We uphold their worldwide reputation of professionalism and integrity. In addition, we invest 10 times the industry average in training and developing our talented teams through Dexters Academy, our training centre based in Pimlico.”
“Our people are the key to our success, with over 65,000 Google reviews rated 4.9 out of 5 stars, more than 70 per cent of new business comes from referrals and repeat business. We work with the sentiment that nothing is too much trouble and our clients and customers should never have to ask twice, ensuring we go the extra mile to deliver a first-class experience.”
