General Description Fund projects that improve watershed functions and protect the quality of surface and groundwater, including restoration and education projects. Cost-shares water quality and wildlife habitat improvement activities, including conservation tillage, nutrient and manure management, fish habitat improvements, and riparian plantings. Cost-shares purchases of agricultural conservation easements to protect agricultural land from development. Provides federal tax credit as incentive to plant trees. State assistance up to 100 percent of the costs to convert non-stocked forestland to timber stands. Available to non-industrial private landowners. Provides incentives to landowners to protect and restore pastureland, rangeland, and certain other grasslands. Provides funds to enhance existing incentive programs for fish and wildlife habitat improvements. Provides grants for a variety of restoration, assessment, monitoring, and education projects, as well as watershed council staff support. 25% local match requirement on all grants.
