THANKING THE MEDICS Maria Vitoratos | Careers Coach, DESC
‘I
nteract at DESC’ is our in-house DESCareers Business Networking Club, which is led by myself and a team of seven DESC Sixth Form students. Interact is a part of Rotary International which is the largest service society in the world. Locally, this forms part of the Rotary Club of Jumeirah. The team get involved in a variety of charitable initiatives and one of their most recent projects focused on showing gratitude and kindness towards those on the frontline. The team put together a GROW lesson for Year 10 students which invited them to consider gratitude and what it really means to say
‘thank you’. Students then wrote a letter to over 250 medical professionals across Dubai, thanking them for their service and efforts during the pandemic, which they recently received via email. Although the purpose of this project was to thank the medics, we would also like to thank the Interact at DESC group – Anish, Soumya, Ahan, Fareeda, Nadia, Jana and Minaal – for taking the time and initiative to put this together and putting a big smile on the faces of medical professionals across the city.
