3. Online Learning – Guidance for Parents Guidance for Parents Please do take the time to watch Karl Hopwood’s online parent seminar which he filmed for Luckley. This talk can be found here Welcome and Karl Hopwood after the welcome address. Karl is an independent e-safety expert. He is a member of UKCCIS (UK Council for Child Internet Safety) and sits on the advisory board for the UK Safer Internet Centre and the education advisory board for CEOP. Karl has worked for a number of key players in the UK and abroad including CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre), BECTA (British Educational and Communications Technology). Karl has also addressed the staff recently. He was due to visit Luckley to speak to pupils this January, but due to lockdown we will be rescheduling this talk for as soon as we are able.
Luckley Lectures In order to support parents during lockdown, we are pleased to present live on Zoom, an evening lecture by psychologist Dr Aric Sigman. Dr Sigman will chat to parents about ‘parenting a demanding generation’ and ‘living in a Covid world’ amongst other topics and will also host a Q&A session. Dr Aric Sigman is a PSHE health education lecturer primarily to children, parents and staff at schools, as well as to medical schools and NHS doctors, and to companies and conferences. He is a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood and publishes peer-reviewed medical papers on health and development subjects. Dr Sigman is the author of five books on PSHE-related topics including Getting Physical which won The Times Educational Supplement’s Information Book Award. More information is available here.
