The design is inspired by the Roman construction technique known as “opus incertum”, where natural materials are cut randomly and assembled masterfully into a harmonious and elegant structure.

The interaction between different thread thicknesses creates extraordinary three dimensional effects, giving rise to designs that convey timeless elegance. The careful juxtaposition of colours, textures and shapes creates an artwork leather that are as durable as they are refined, ensuring that each project becomes an expression of unique style.

Our collection offers embroidery designs that express sophistication and artistry with an amazing range of leather in a variety of colors, allowing the client to find the perfect combination for its own personal style. Each piece is adorned with intricate embroidery, mixing a variety of precious sewing techniques.

With meticulous crafsmanship, our pieces not only embrace the uneven beauty of traditional methods but elevate them to meet the demands of modern aesthetics.

VOLUME 15

A note from Joanne...

As our most popular issue with readers, consistently each year, The World’s Leading Design Names is, as always, an annual book of true inspiration. This year we have selected designers from all corners of the planet, their work is as diverse as their outlook, geographical locations and experience.

We hope it makes for varied and interesting reading, as they discuss their work, influences, design philosophies and the direction of design in broad terms. Some are award-winning designers, and all have been shortlisted in The International Design & Architecture Awards or The International Yacht & Aviation Awards; all have received amongst the highest level of votes in recent

competitions, votes from you as readers and design professionals, so we assume these are precisely the people you want to see read about and learn from.

As always, we are here to create publications which are varied in format - our aim to look at different themes and areas of design, rather than simply publish a magazine in the same format each month. Please continue to give your feedback, let us know what you want to see more of, who and what you would like to read more about and we will continue to re design and re define the publishing format for you.

Until next issue, Joanne

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with an international reach, the firm is led by award-winning designer Aness Handous, whose visionary approach has positioned her among the elite in the design world.

Specializing in bespoke residential and commercial interiors, Tailored Interior transforms spaces into breathtaking reflections of each client’s unique aspirations. From concept to completion, every project is imbued with meticulous attention to detail, unparalleled craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Known for her ability to seamlessly blend luxury with functionality, Aness creates designs that not only inspire but elevate the way her clients live and work. Tailored Interior is more than design—it is an art form, where innovation meets timeless sophistication to deliver results that are simply unmatched.

What led you to pursue this career?

From a young age, I had a strong inclination towards creativity and design. Growing up, I was captivated by how spaces could transform not only aesthetically but also emotionally, influencing the way people live and feel within them. However, my career path wasn’t a direct one. As a single parent, I had to balance the responsibilities of raising my family with the desire to chase my dream of building something extraordinary. It was the combination of these challenges and my passion for creating functional, beautiful environments that truly shaped my decision to pursue a career in interior design. I saw the opportunity to blend artistic vision with practical solutions, not just to elevate spaces but to change lives. This career allows me to bring my clients’ aspirations to life while continuously evolving as a designer and business owner, and for me, that’s the ultimate reward.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

My career journey has been shaped by perseverance and a deep passion for design. As a mother of three, I learned early on the importance of balancing family life with the pursuit of my professional dreams. I started with small design projects, which allowed me to gradually build my portfolio and establish a reputation within the local market. Over time, I honed my unique approach to design—one that emphasises both aesthetics and functionality, while also focusing on how spaces can influence the way people feel.

As my business expanded, I founded multiple ventures, including an interior design firm, a home staging company, and a renovation business under the Tailored Interior Inc. brand. This diversification allowed me to explore different facets of the design world and extend my influence across various aspects of the industry.

A turning point in my career was becoming the preferred designer for HGTV’s Scott McGillivray in the Edmonton area, which gave my business a broader platform and opened doors to new opportunities. Through hard work and a commitment to quality, I’ve been able to grow my company, build lasting relationships with clients, and receive international recognition for my projects.

Now, as I look toward the future, I’m proud of the journey that has brought me here - running a successful business that reflects my vision and dedication to creating meaningful, impactful designs.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

My first piece of advice is to embrace every opportunity to learn. The interior design industry is constantly evolving, and the best way to stay ahead is to be curious, open, and adaptable.

Building strong relationships is equally important. Success in design isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces— it’s about understanding your clients’ needs, working collaboratively with contractors and suppliers, and being able to communicate your vision effectively.

Also, don’t be afraid of challenges. There will be moments when things don’t go as planned, but those are often the moments that teach you the most. Stay resilient and be resourceful.

Finally, remember that your unique perspective is your greatest asset. Stay true to your style and vision but be open to feedback and growth.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

Inspiration comes to me from many sources, but at the heart of it all is the connection between people and the spaces they inhabit. I’m inspired by how a well-designed environment can completely transform someone’s mood, energy, and experience. I draw inspiration from nature, travel, art, and even architecture, but most of all, I’m inspired by the stories of my clients and the way their spaces can reflect who they are.

My creative process begins with getting to know the client intimately—their lifestyle, preferences, and needs. I spend a great deal of time understanding how they want to live and feel in their space. It’s not just about aesthetics but about functionality and how the design can improve their daily life.

From there, I dive into research. I look for textures, materials, and colour palettes that resonate with the client’s personality and the intended feel of the space.

The next phase is collaboration. I work closely with my team and often with contractors to ensure that the design vision is practical and executable.

Finally, my process always includes a focus on balance— between creativity and practicality, between boldness and subtlety. I aim to create designs that are both timeless and on-trend, spaces that not only look beautiful but function seamlessly in everyday life.

What are your currently working on?

Currently, I am focused on several exciting projects that highlight my passion for design and innovation. One of my main initiatives is the Marble Grove project, which is rich in character and showcases unpredictable design changes. This project allows me to explore creative solutions and push the boundaries of traditional design.

Additionally, I’m preparing for a Bespoke furnishings and decor line that will feature unique furnishings and decor, bringing high-style options to Edmonton and surrounding areas. This venture not only aims to connect with the community but also to provide an opportunity to showcase carefully curated pieces that align with my brand’s vision.

I am also continuing to work on client projects, where I aim to deliver personalised design solutions that reflect their individual tastes and lifestyles. Each of these endeavours is a chance to further develop my skills and make a positive impact through design.

What would be your dream project?

My dream project would be a large-scale communityfocused development that combines residential living with vibrant communal spaces. I envision creating a unique environment where design fosters connection and promotes a sense of belonging among residents.

This project would integrate sustainable design principles, emphasising eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient solutions. It would feature customisable living spaces that allow residents to express their individuality while promoting a cohesive aesthetic throughout the development.

I would love to incorporate elements like green roofs, shared gardens, and creative public spaces that encourage community engagement and interaction. Ultimately, this dream project would not only showcase innovative design but also contribute positively to the well-being and quality of life of those who live and work within it. ==,

LAURA POMPONI

FOUNDER AND CEO LUXURY PROJECTS

Laura Pomponi is the Founder and CEO of Luxury Projects, a leading Italian design studio known for its bespoke, innovative interiors across luxury yachts, residences, and more. Born in Rome and raised in Ancona, Laura’s passion for design was sparked early, influenced by her fashion designer grandmother and afternoons spent mastering the art of embroidery in a monastery. She pursued a degree in Engineering from the Polytechnic University and began her career in shipbuilding, specializing in project management for a Super Yacht builder. In 2008, Laura’s love for art, material research, and precision inspired her to establish Luxury Projects in Ancona. What began with a glamorous shoe collection and a meticulous eye for detail has grown into a prestigious design firm celebrated for its ability to bring the most complex and multicultural visions to life. Laura and her dynamic team are driven by the thrill of challenging projects, combining innovation and craftsmanship to create tailor-made interiors that are both timeless and extraordinary.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

In 2008, I established Luxury Projects, a design atelier that quickly evolved into a renowned design studio recognised globally. The studio’s portfolio spans from superyachts to residential projects, including the design of furniture and decorative accessories. Luxury Projects embodies a distinctive Italian charm, complemented by an international reach. With a Dutch business partner, offices in the Middle East, and clients from around the globe, Luxury Projects operates as a truly dynamic and global design firm.

What led you to pursue this career?

At the outset of my career, I focused on telecommunications engineering. Holding a PhD in engineering, I was part of the pioneering team that created Italy’s first national data transmission and communication network.

Initially I chose an academic path focused on mathematical models, as mathematics and technology have always been my enduring passions. I have consistently favoured the infinite possibilities and logic of numbers, as well as the creative processes involved in developing new technologies. At the same time, however, I harboured a deep passion for art and craftsmanship, which likely stemmed from my grandmother. My grandmother was an extraordinary woman who owned a high-end tailoring atelier. I spent countless hours observing her work, evaluating fabrics, embroideries, and finishes. To me, it was a magical world filled with tailors, fabric manufacturers, mannequins, and elegant clients. My grandmother often said that a dress is truly beautiful when it enhances the beauty of the wearer and must adapt to the client’s shape, not the other way around. This concept is so deeply ingrained in my soul and vision that I have built the philosophy of Luxury Projects around it. Each project is tailored to the client, reflecting their lifestyle, sense of home and family, as well as their comfort and experiences. They do not impose a mere exercise of style; it is a distinction between haute couture and prêt-à-porter.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

I launched my career in the yachting industry at a prominent Italian superyacht builder, where I worked as a project manager, applying my technical engineering expertise. It was during this experience that I discovered my passion for yachts and credit this period with imparting the intricacies of superyacht construction. It is essential for me that everyone in my studio has spent part of their career in a shipyard. I strongly believe that firsthand experience on the shop floor is crucial for understanding how yachts are assembled - a knowledge base that is vital for designing successful yachts.

What do you look for in applicants when recruiting for your team?

My team of 15 bring a diverse range of expertise to the studio, with backgrounds in naval architecture and pure design. Above all, I value passion - it’s something that truly defines the work we do at Luxury Projects and drives everything we create.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

I vision a future where I spend my days developing new materials and creating innovative solutions to the challenges faced by owners and designers onboard. With a PhD in engineering, I possess a profound understanding of the chemical composition of materials, enabling me to engage in the engineering and manufacturing processes from the outset and assist manufacturers in material development. This approach is not only highly unusual but also highlights my ability to craft robust interiors tailored to the specific needs of yacht owners. There are many so-called ‘innovative’ interior design projects in the industry, but very few truly push the boundaries of yacht interiors. When I step aboard a yacht, I always examine the ceilings because innovation is often evident there. Our first step is to understand how a client intends to use their yacht, particularly whether it is for charter or private enjoyment, so we can customise the interior materials and design accordingly.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

My advice to those starting out in their design career is to always remember that the client’s happiness is the ultimate measure of success. I believe in advocating for my clients and safeguarding the vision of each project. I often share this mantra with clients: “We will share laughter and disagreements, but ultimately, I am here to turn your dreams into reality, and we will ensure that we enjoy the journey together.”

Designers must be adaptable, able to reshape themselves according to the desires of their clients, and I like to think of myself as somewhat of a chameleon. It is neither my role nor my nature to force owners to conform to my ideas; a designer’s purpose is to realise the client’s vision, and I am not so arrogant as to place myself at the centre of a design. This approach ensures that each project has its own distinct aesthetic and style. I’m proud that yachts like Alfa, Nero, Moonstone, and Samadhi reflect this ethos and remain some of my most expressive work.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

Innovation and creativity lie at the core of Luxury Projects, with the team dedicated to discovering unique artisanal craftsmen to create bespoke details for their projects.

Located in the heart of the Marche region in eastern Italy, renowned for its Italian artisans, the studio is immersed in rare and often forgotten craftsmanship. Many of the yachts we design today are truly custom, and genuine customisation goes hand in hand with exceptional craftsmanship. We collaborate with over 1,800 suppliers, and some of the most skilled artisans are located within a 40-mile radius. We are genuinely passionate about supporting the businesses around us. Our location offers us unique insight into the creative processes of these companies, and we frequently draw inspiration from the artisans in our region. Additionally, the studio has established a 600-square-meter office and showroom that highlights our suppliers’ finest work, providing a space for owners and their families to select distinctive pieces of art and furniture for their yachts.

Born in Denver, Colorado and raised in Missouri, David Anthony’s creative eye and penchant for making things beautiful was manifested early on in childhood in the way he played, and the recognition he had even then, that design exists in all things. He graduated with a degree in Architecture with an emphasis in Interior Design. Sought for his creative eye and thorough dedication to his craft, David has risen to become a trusted authority in interior design.

Please explain your job role briefly. I am the principal designer, designing for residential and commercial hospitality projects.

What led you to pursue this career?

The universe led me to it. It is the only thing I have done in my life and it is a passion I live and breathe, whether I am awake or asleep.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

I am a graduate of Southwest Missouri State with a degree in Architecture and Interior Design. My first job was with a residential firm in Springfield Missouri, but after a year, I started my own business called London Crest. My residential clientele grew quickly, and then I got my first commercial break designing a handful of Bass Pro ships and a hunting resort in Branson Missouri. This led me to opening a studio in Ft. Lauderdale Florida, where I did most of my work for about 7 years. Landing a major project with the Ritz Carlton hotel brought me to Washington DC, where I have had my business for the past 25 plus years.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Super busy! We start very early, about 7AM at job sites to avoid afternoon traffic, and get most of our meetings over with by 2pm, then head back into the studio to work on projects and correspondence. A typical day means working from 5am-7pm.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

Follow your heart and mind when it comes to designing. Most times, your first initial design thoughts are where you end up. Let the creative flow be organic. Honestly, as creatives, we all work differently, so just run with it!

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

Travelling, film, fellow creatives and whatever fills my mind are a constant source of inspiration. My creative process is somewhat unique. When I first visit a space or project and have the brief in hand, I see the vision of the finished look and then I work backwards to execute the design, while still allowing the space to breathe for edits.

Who has had the most influence on your career? Life itself.

How do you build relationships with your clients?

My relationship with my clients begin with a shared chemistry and vibe. After that, our mutual excitement for the design builds, and with that, a sense of trust built on open communication.

What do you look for in applicants when recruiting for your team?

I always look for a willingness to be a team member, and the ability to be open to creative and constructive criticism. Of course, the vibe check must also be in line with mine!

What is the most unusual request you have had in your career?

The most unusual to this day is to design a sex store. Fun times!

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

I believe that storytelling is still key in design. With that said, we still see the need for organic and natural, yet with the architecture housing the design to be glamorous and filled with grandeur.

What defines “good design” to you?

“Good design” encompasses space, storytelling, tonal calmness and lighting!

We tend not to look at “trends” as such at the top end of the market and focus on design with some longevity, but what do you think our key trends/ideas or must haves for the coming year?

Key trends and ideas and must haves for the coming year are organic vibes that are clean with an organised chaos.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

The future of design is in organic movements, and natural design with minimal elements. AI, or artificial intelligence, and 3-D printing incorporated with a mix of old school artisans.

What is your one recommendation for the year ahead?

My recommendation would be to move away from the older traditional styles and embracing the expansion of furniture form.

What are your currently working on?

We have multiple projects in the works; a 10k organic restaurant with natural forms and elements, we are very excited about this one. Also, a four-story bar/lounge in Washington DC, as well as a handful of smaller bars and lounges.

What would be your dream project?

We are currently working on it now, where we have carte blanche authority to make creative design decisions and our clients trust us 100%. Living the dream really!

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I’m 56 years young. I live in Alexandria, VA right outside Washington DC. I’m an artist and purveyor of fine food, new and old music, high fashion, and always, innovative and creative design. As a true Taurus, being at home is always the preferred relaxing environment for me, and I enjoy listening to music and love illustrating my projects.

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

At 56, I am still working on this balance. To that end, I have started to travel more and try to give myself more time to rest and relax. It is a work in progress and there is still much more growth for me on this.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

For the year ahead and beyond, I aim to give 110% to my clients and projects so that I can continue to grow both as an individual and as a company. And of course, design to the fullest degree!

Maisa Saif is the visionary Founder, Director and Lead Designer behind Polished Interiors. With over a decade of experience shaping exceptional spaces in both the US and UAE, Maisa’s passion for design was sparked when she transformed her own family home, realising the profound impact thoughtful interiors can have on everyday life. Trained at The New England Institute of Art in Boston and having worked with top-tier firms like Ethan Allen, Maisa seamlessly blends technical expertise with artistic flair. Her portfolio spans residential, office, retail, and restaurant projects, where she’s known for her hands-on approach from concept to the final detail. Coming from a family rich in artistic and architectural influence, Maisa’s designs go beyond aesthetics –they create environments that elevate daily living.

What led you to pursue this career?

What led me to pursue this career is my passion for designing spaces that combine form and function, creating environments that enhance people’s experiences. I’ve always been drawn to both the creative and technical aspects of design, which naturally led me to architecture and interior design. Being able to lead a creative team and owning a manufacturing company allows me to bring my vision to life from start to finish, giving me full control over both the design process and the quality of the final product.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

My advice to someone starting out as an interior designer would be to focus on developing a strong foundation in both design principles and practical skills. Learn to balance creativity with functionality, as design is about solving problems while creating beauty. Build a portfolio that showcases your versatility, and be open to learning from every project, no matter the scale. Networking and gaining experience through internships or collaborations are key. Most importantly, stay curious, adapt to new trends, and always listen to your clients’ needs to create spaces that resonate with them.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

What inspires me is a blend of nature, architecture, and human interaction with space. I find inspiration in the details of everyday life—the way light filters through a window, the textures found in nature, or even the flow of movement through a room. Travel and exploring different cultures also spark new ideas, as I observe how people design and use spaces around the world.

My creative process begins with understanding the client’s needs and vision. I immerse myself in their world, asking questions about how they want to feel in the space and how it will function. From there, I start sketching out rough ideas, playing with layouts and key design elements. I look at textures, colours, and materials that will not only look good but also align with the purpose of the space.

Next, I create mood boards, collecting inspiration from different sources, whether it’s a piece of art, architecture, or natural elements. This helps me visualize the overall aesthetic. Once I have a strong concept, I collaborate with my team to refine the details—choosing furniture, lighting, and finishes that align with the design vision.

Throughout the process, I focus on balancing form and function, ensuring that the space not only looks beautiful but also meets the practical needs of those using it. The final step is seeing it all come together, whether through renderings or on-site installations, ensuring that the design translates perfectly from concept to reality.

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

I think design in the architectural and interior sectors is moving toward a direction that emphasizes sustainability, adaptability, and technology integration. There’s a growing focus on eco-friendly designs, where materials, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices take centre stage. Clients and designers alike are becoming more conscious of reducing environmental impact, using renewable resources, and creating energy-efficient spaces.

Adaptability is another key trend. As people’s needs change, especially with more remote work and flexible living, spaces

are being designed to be multifunctional. Modular furniture, transformable rooms, and flexible layouts are becoming increasingly popular, allowing spaces to evolve based on different uses over time.

Technology is also shaping the future of design. Smart homes and buildings that integrate advanced technology— such as automated lighting, heating, and security systems— are on the rise. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) tools are making it easier to visualize and customize designs before construction even begins. In addition, 3D printing and innovative materials are opening up new possibilities for custom design and fabrication, offering more creative freedom.

Overall, the direction is toward more personalized, functional, and environmentally conscious spaces, driven by advances in technology and a deeper awareness of the impact design has on both people and the planet.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

Good design, to me, is about finding the right balance between how a space looks and how it works. It should be functional, making life easier, and at the same time, visually pleasing. A well-designed space feels natural and supports the activities that happen there.

It also has an emotional impact, creating a mood or feeling that suits the purpose of the space, whether it’s relaxing, inspiring, or energizing. Good design should also be thoughtful and sustainable, using materials and methods that are good for both people and the environment.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

Community-oriented designs will be on the rise, with more focus on creating spaces that bring people together in meaningful ways, from shared living spaces to public areas that encourage interaction. At the same time, I expect an emphasis on timeless, durable designs that can stand the test of time rather than following short-lived trends. This will reflect a shift toward quality, longevity, and creating spaces that truly serve the people who use them.

What would be your dream project?

My dream project is to design a boutique hotel. I imagine creating a space where every corner tells a story, blending local culture with modern design elements. The focus would be on crafting an intimate and unique experience for guests, with personalized rooms that each have their own distinct character. I’d incorporate sustainable materials, natural light, and innovative design features, ensuring the hotel feels both luxurious and eco-conscious. It would be a place where design, comfort, and experience come together seamlessly, offering guests a memorable stay in every sense.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I live in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with my beautiful family, and I find that working on design projects helps me relax and unwind. The creative process allows me to disconnect, focus, and enjoy the flow of bringing ideas to life, which is both fulfilling and refreshing for me.

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

I’d be lying if I said that i can achieve the balance between being a designer and a mom, but i make sure to keep my days balanced between both. And also opt for quality time with my kids bs quantity.

In 2000 I started my own company completing numerous super yachts from 25m to 45m, several sailing yachts, and some residential VIP interiors, before joining Jet Aviation in 2009.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

Get up, eat, do my best work, sleep, repeat... I love my work and the company I work for. As every project we complete is completely bespoke, every day is different and comes with its own set of challenges. We want to bring our customer’s dreams to life, and to do this we need to continually innovate and push the boundaries of what is considered possible in VVIP completions. This brief is incredibly energising and exciting, and I work with teams from design, engineering, production, installation and more, whose passion and commitment to their craft inspires me every day.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

Wherever you start, keep working on achieving your dreams. The longest journey starts with the first step; aim high and keep going.

As the world of design continues to evolve, it is also crucial to remain open-minded, agile, and curious. Explore different industries and aesthetics, talk to people outside of design –those engineering and crafting the products, and learn from their experiences as well.

We often have trainees in our team as part of the company’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of aviation professionals, and it’s an incredible environment to learn about design. You have the experience of our design team, as well as that of a huge range of related professions. The amount of knowledge and skill is incredible, and listening and learning from it helps us to become better designers at any stage of our career.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

Nature, people, beauty, and fine craftsmanship. I truly believe that the creative journey can begin with anything. Design is an everyday reality and a profound part

of my life, and I find that there is inspiration wherever you look: interesting objects, picturesque places, a painting, or piece of art — also the people you meet. There are always opportunities to discover new things that can surprise and inspire you. You need to think about what you want to achieve and reduce it to its purest essence, the feeling you are trying to evoke, and go from there. Once I have all of these inputs and possibilities, I take the approach of a bird of prey in flight, and home in on the one solution I think works best.

Of course, in our industry, the customer is integral to this process, and I am very humbled to be able to work so closely with them to bring their vision to life. We map out their requirements and ideas, work with our in- house engineering and production teams to figure out how we can make them happen, and then refine them with the customer to create a final interior that truly reflects their ultimate cabin experience.

Who has had the most influence on your career?

My grandfathers, who were inspiring artisans, and my father, who was a successful designer and jazz musician.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

Design has now reached a point where we can truly embrace and use leading edge technologies. The design community is really exploring the possibilities of sustainable and ecologically materials and embracing open loop circular economies for construction materials. This can only benefit us all as we continue to innovate in service of our customers and discover new and more exciting ways of working that support the sustainable efforts of our respective industries. In addition, AI, gamification, and more Phygital environments play a big role in harmonising complex parts of design and enabling us to push the boundaries even further in terms of what we can imagine and construct.

For example, you might think it is impossible to design a new and never seen before everyday item, such as a chair or a shoe, but design never stops. It is influenced by the past, present and the future and all the other factors around it, and as the tools and materials available to us continue to change, we have unique new opportunities all around us. In my mind, these developments are all great additions to our design toolbox and have the potential to influence where the design industry goes in the future. It is a very exciting time to be in the field!

What would be your dream project?

I would love to bring all my previous experience and that of my team together with a design for an aircraft with corresponding car, yacht, helicopter, and tenders. It would be exciting to collaborate across industries and learn from one another to bring in new technologies, materials, and ways of working to bring this cohesive concept to life for a customer.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

For me, it is important to be able to completely switch of and focus on something that is outside of the work environment. Of course, design and design inspiration are a huge part of my life, both professionally and personally, and I love to visit museums, art galleries, and to travel, but I also love to spend time with my family and friends, especially in nature. I always find new inspiration outdoors, such as when hiking or gamekeeping as a hobby.

BEN LEWIS

FOUNDER & HEAD INTERIOR DESIGNER TRENZSEATER

Ben Lewis has always had a passion for design and designed his first sofa when he was only 14 years old. Ben and his brother Hamish Lewis founded TRENZSEATER in 2004, through a vision Ben had to fulfil a niche in the market for custom-made luxury furniture and interior design. TRENZSEATER quickly established itself as a design destination through presenting its collections in exquisite and inspiring showroom settings. TRENZSEATER is a design leader in the New Zealand market for furniture and interior design, specialising in furniture which is designed and manufactured in New Zealand.

What led you to pursue this career?

I have been brought up in the industry so from an early age I was always inspired by furniture and interior design, visiting my grandfather’s furniture factory and being exposed to great design led to starting TRENZSEATER and a career in interior design. I also thrive on the creative process of designing projects, the challenges that each brings to then layering all the elements together for a cohesive result.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

I was inspired by my grandfather’s furniture business growing up, his drive and passion for manufacturing some of the finest furniture in New Zealand gave me from an early age a grounding and foundation in an industry which I fell in love with. My first sofa I designed and was successful for production was when I was 14, which was the start of many more as I design all our furniture designs for TRENZSEATER. I had a vision to start a high-end furniture and interior design business in New Zealand which I did at the age of 20, to cater for a market where clients wanted something personalised, different to what anyone else had. TRENZSEATER was established with my brother Hamish, and together we have grown the business into one of New Zealand’s most prominent furniture, interior design stores. Our Interior Design Service grew purely through industry experience, with my interior design work now being highly regarded and recognised on an international level. TRENZSEATER has 3 stores throughout New Zealand which house all the products we manufacture to order in New Zealand along with all our beautiful International brands we distribute from Europe. These stores are a true showcase to our interior design expertise, demonstrating our unique quality of product and manner in which we present it. Our Interior Design Service is also an influential part of business which has grown over the many years into a full service that we offer to clients throughout New Zealand.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

A typical day starts early with some brief exercise, when I get to the office I run over the day’s schedule, talk with all the Manager’s, then start working on all the projects along with serving clients throughout the day. Alot can be achieved in one day!

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

I am continuously inspired each day by design, through architecture, interior design and classic furniture design where the classic detailing provided a signature style. I also enjoy and find inspiration in fashion, art and antiques. Natural materials inspire me for their unique, classic qualities, marbles, stone and the character you get from solid timbers.

Who has had the most influence on your career?

Both my grandfather who pioneered the furniture industry in New Zealand along with my father who has continued his legacy.

What do you look for in applicants when recruiting for your team?

A good sense of design + style, experience is not always necessary but a good solid understanding of the design principles is along with a willingness to learn.

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

I believe design is moving towards interiors which are eloquently layered providing layers of interest and personality to a design that make spaces a pleasure to be in and enjoyed at the same time. We also see in design the use of matt and brushed metal finishes, brass in door hardware and light fixtures along with the use of a lot of natural marbles and stones.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

A good design to me should be awe-inspiring, intriguing so every time you look at it you are inspired.

We tend not to look at “trends” as such at the top end of the market and focus on design with some longevity, but what do you think our key trends/ideas or must haves for the coming year?

Great design is timeless, but I do think we are going to see a lot more natural materials like marble and alabaster being used, natural timbers being finished in very raw finishes along with brushed metal finishes. Clients want to see something that looks real and natural.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

We are so well connected now that projects can be done from anywhere on the planet, this opens the market up along with the competition for projects, which in turn should result in a higher standard of work.

What is your one recommendation for the year ahead?

DREAM BIG, THINK BIG, GO BIG!

What are your currently working on?

Currently I am working on several really exciting projects, probably the most intriguing is an alpine lodge that will feature a lot of raw, natural finishes and materials along with a classic home that we have an eclectic, modern mix of finishes, materials and furnishings that will be visually stimulating to the eye. There are also several beautifully appointed architectural homes throughout New Zealand which are all currently in progress at various stages.

What would be your dream project?

A project with a limitless budget and a client who doesn’t have any preconceived ideas of what they want.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, with my wife Vicky and our four children who keep us very busy and entertained! We all like being active so sports play a large part of our lives, we also enjoy spending time at our holiday home in Akaroa. An escape from work for me is golf which I enjoy tremendously.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

Continue to deliver outstanding interior design projects along with upgrading our Christchurch and Auckland showrooms.

Final thoughts, or anything else you would like to share with us?

“There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart, pursue those”.

AVID

Meet Anna-Maria Wurz, a highly accomplished interior designer. Since graduating from Mount Royal University’s Bachelor of Applied Interior Design program in 2010, Anna has dedicated her career to creating timeless and functional designs perfectly aligned with her clients’ lifestyles. With a keen eye for detail and an unwavering passion for her craft, Anna has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional design solutions. As the Principal Interior Designer at Avid Interior Design Inc., she consistently proavides elevated and innovative design concepts. Anna’s work has garnered international acclaim, and her dedication to crafting fabulous interiors continues to inspire.

What led you to pursue this career?

Since a very young age, I would spend hours drawing, creating and imagining things that I wanted to share with the world. I always loved beautiful things: especially patterns, colours and changing things up. It came very naturally for me to envision possibilities and dream up creative solutions in an unconventional way. My love for making art on a 2D canvas expanded inevitably into creating art on a 3D canvas, which essentially is interior design. To me, great design is layers upon layers of carefully curated composition. It must look intentional from every angle you look at it.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

In 2010, I completed the Bachelor of Applied Interior Design program at Mount Royal University. Since then, I have collaborated with leading professionals in the interior design industry on multiple residential and commercial projects. The love I have for design is evident in my work which has resulted in international recognition, including nominations and awards from The Design Society, Design Et Al, and Houzz, as well as multiple features in The World’s Leading Design Names.

On my continuous journey to live a creatively inspired life, I strive to provide elevated design solutions for my clients that are leading edge and fabulous.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Each day starts early, and it must start with coffee! I truly enjoy it and that is the most routine part of my day. As there are many projects that I work on at once, I try to keep an organised schedule and I time block to dedicate towards focused tasks or meetings. That said, there are so many unexpected things that come up during the day that seem to need immediate tending to, and so, multi-tasking is inevitable!

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

Truly, inspiration comes when it is least expected and when I am not looking for it. I love to be in nature and to travel. It is when my focus is on enjoying the moment and embracing the beauty of life that encourages the most brilliant ideas. When doing something completely unrelated to a design project is when I am surprised with life’s greatest gifts and the most inspirational ideas.

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

What has been on the forefront of great design for quite some time and will continue to be in the future is incorporating technology and sustainability into our homes and work environments. As technology changes so frequently, we need to design spaces that will be adaptive and relevant for years to come.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

Good design is functional as well as beautiful. You cannot have one without the other.

We tend not to look at “trends” as such at the top end of the market and focus on design with some longevity, but what do you think our key trends/ideas or must haves for the coming year?

When it comes to interior design, we like to bend the rules and create a space that is perfectly suited to each client

and their lifestyles. With every project, we always need to consider these key things – Purpose and Importance, Longevity and Durability, Style and Aesthetics, Budget and Timeline, Harmony and Balance. If these elements are integrated into designing any space, then it will stand the test of time.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

The best way to predict the future of design is to create it. That is what’s so great about our job as designers, we have the power to shape and mould things as we see fit. As we have seen for a few years already and we will continue to see is the integration of AI and technology, sustainability and environmentally friendly solutions.

The projects consist of a custom new build home and renovations in Interior British Columbia, Canada; a few largescale home renovations in and around Calgary, Alberta as well as Scottsdale, Arizona USA. A few restaurant projects in Calgary. Each one of these projects is from concept to completion with full scale interior design services; all in which include furniture and decor procurement. Very excited about each and every one of these projects!

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

My whole life, I have lived in and around Calgary, Alberta Canada. It is such a beautiful place to live! As a child, I grew up on an acreage in DeWinton and now I live downtown Calgary.

If I’m not working, I love to escape to the mountains or spend the day at the spa. It is the best way to relax.

Although I love to travel the world and explore new places, we have a holiday home in beautifully warm Cabo San Lucas, Mexico so we frequent there often. During our Canadian winters, if we aren’t skiing or enjoying winter activities, we love to get of town and go to the beach!

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

Absolutely! Maintaining a well-rounded lifestyle is important to me. Although the success of my business is top priority, I also value my time with family and friends and take personal time out for myself.

Having an organised schedule helps to manage my time effectively, but I am also a spontaneous person who likes the freedom to mix things up every now and then!

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

To be truly happy, to feel fulfilled, to be grateful - everyday.

Final thoughts, or anything else you would like to share with us?

Appreciate the small things. Get up in the morning and say thank you! Acknowledge yourself for how far you’ve come and acknowledge others that have helped you along your path. Be grateful for what you have now as it can all be taken away from you in an instant.

PROPERTY DEVELOPER AND HEAD OF DESIGN AND PROJECTS

1.61 LONDON

Drawing on over fifty years of family expertise in real estate, brothers Alexander and Michael Christou established 1.61 London in 2010 to bring a new standard of excellence to the luxury design world. Known for their dedication to bespoke design, 1.61 London creates one-of-akind spaces for a discerning international clientele, delivering projects defined by exceptional craftsmanship, innovative aesthetics, and flawless service. With a name inspired by the Golden Ratio, 1.61 London embodies a commitment to “aesthetic perfection” in every venture. As a super-prime developer, 1.61 London’s portfolio includes some of London’s most prestigious residential addresses, and their work has garnered numerous international design awards. Their journey began with a personal renovation, transforming an overlooked Mayfair apartment into a masterpiece that caught the attention of friends and prospective clients alike - ultimately sparking the launch of a flourishing business. Today, Alexander and Michael continue to push the boundaries of luxury development, blending a deep-rooted passion for design with a shared vision of excellence.

What led you to pursue this career?

My passion for property and the creative process to take something from concept to delivery has always inspired me.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

My brother Alex and I started 1.61 London straight after I left university and our family has always been involved in design and construction. I was therefore immersed in it growing up.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

This has changed considerably over the last 14 years. At the moment, we are in the middle of building our own new build development in Mayfair as well as leading the design on a 75,000 sq. ft new build mega mansion. Most of my day is spent in meetings coordinating the design or being on-site.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

You can’t beat getting started and learning the industry in the real world. Too many designers come into 1.61 London and they don’t understand how to get things done on a real site.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

Inspiration is taken from everywhere and we usually like to hone in on specific details about each project that make it stand out. This is what we use as our inspiration per project.

Who has had the most influence on your career?

When I was young I played up to grade 8 on the piano and this was originally my creative medium where I wrote my own songs. Lots of artists spring to mind but in particular Chris Martin. When I create my interiors I always say it’s like creating a song where there has to be a beginning, a middle and an end.

How do you build relationships with your clients?

My brother Alex leads our client and sales division and when you’re working on projects like the 75,000 sq. ft house, clients become like your family and it is important that you understand their character in order for you to deliver their dream home using your expertise.

What do you look for in applicants when recruiting for your team?

We generally look for people who are smart and have the right attitude. The rest can be taught as long as people have a good work ethic.

What is the most unusual request you have had in your career?

We were once asked to meet a celebrity client that made us cancel our entire week because he needed us to be in LA immediately to help with a new home - we had to pack our bags immediately!

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

I think the big shift with construction is in evolving traditional buildings and keeping as much of the initial design/fabric of the building. This ensures there is less wastage.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

Good design is ensuring you meet the brief of your client whilst also adding a wow factor that they wouldn’t have normally incorporated. We tend to use intricate three dimensional elevation work to do this.

We tend not to look at “trends” as such at the top end of the market and focus on design with some longevity, but what do you think our key trends/ideas or must haves for the coming year?

We think the accent metal colour will shift to nickel.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

I think design will shift so that it becomes more fluid in terms of it being able to change/evolve as people evolve throughout their lives. I see this happening through the incorporation of technology into a home that will allow people to create flexibility in their environments.

What is your one recommendation for the year ahead?

Since Covid, delivering projects on time and on budget has become even harder so planning ahead and starting the design process as early as possible is even more vital today.

What are your currently working on?

• A 75,000 sq. ft new build mega mansion.

• Two identical 25,000 sq. ft new builds.

• Two 15,000 sq. ft homes and an incredible lateral apartment overlooking Grosvenor Square.

• Our own 8-unit multi-unit development in Mayfair opposite Claridge’s which is located on the only gated road on Mayfair

• A brand-new development we are about to start in St. Johns Wood.

What would be your dream project?

Delivering our own multi-unit new build in Mayfair has been a dream come true for Alex and I.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I currently live in central London with my wife Melissa who is a ballerina and first dancer at the Royal Ballet and our dog Apollo. We love to go on long walks in the countryside.

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

To be honest I love my work and I never stop constantly trying to push the boundaries of what we can do at 1.61 London.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

Ensuring we deliver every detail of these mega mansion projects to exacting standard is incredibly important to the team. We are also creating a new concept for the interior design industry which we hope to launch in 2025!

REBECCA LEIVARS

Rebecca Leivars is an accomplished highend residential interior designer renowned for her unwavering commitment to creating exquisite interiors. Her design journey began following her exceptional achievements at the KLC School of Design in London, culminating in the establishment of LEIVARS in 2007. With a relentless focus on quality and practicality, Rebecca’s dedication has earned her a reputation as a visionary in the field. Her design philosophy seamlessly blends intelligence and diversity, reflecting her clients’ personalities in every project with a meticulous attention to detail. Known for her signature commitment to excellence, Rebecca strives to make design accessible and prides herself on crafting unique, luxurious living spaces that always prioritize the client’s vision. Her enduring dedication to client satisfaction is evident in the strong presence she has cultivated in both the UK and Europe, with repeat business and client referrals as a testament to her success.

What led you to pursue this career?

An accidental path and the love of changing buildings and the natural desire to enhance existing spaces each time I walked into one. I had a creative hunger from my earliest memory and love for moving homes because it allowed me to recreate each time.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

My career started out at the age of 11 on markets in Europe selling jewellery, which was an instrumental starting point in dealing with people from all walks of life and learning about selling and negotiating skills. Then back in the UK falling into Human Resources led a natural academic pathway into this career for 8 years, and then a small break while renovating my own home led to a career change into Interior Design and subsequent studying for a formal qualification.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

I am grateful that in this industry, we do not have a ‘typical’ day, they simply do not exist, too many continuous plates spinning on any given day and a million variables you can wake up to that will change your day, or have a knock on effect which in turn you have to react and adapt to effortlessly, as much as a challenge as it is a thrill and never boring! Our role is to find solutions and keep the headaches away from our clients.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

Be open minded always. Never forget the detail and care about your client’s opinion, work with them, don’t railroad them and overwhelm them. Never lose sight that it is a privilege and do not enter this profession if you think it’s a 95 role, you deal with people’s homes and savings, hours, days and time zones merge. Remember to laugh each day and care about your team and trades that you work with.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

Anything and everything inspires me, from nature, art, antiques, run-down and forgotten derelict buildings. History. A random shape or pattern but most of all design for me is an intuitive reaction to a space, it’s an innate feeling I have towards spaces and reading them differently to the everyday person.

Who has had the most influence on your career?

The most random and numerous business men and women I have had the honour of meeting in my working career, always being inspired from all walks of life. And my beloved dog Harry, who I have recently just lost, Harry taught me to pause and be still for small periods of time each day and smell the fresh air, being with him was the best and most cherished influence on work and life.

How do you build relationships with your clients?

Quite simply I take time to listen and care and maintain regular and meaningful communication.

What do you look for in applicants when recruiting for your team?

A version of me but better...

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

Technology as always is pushing design hard, with the new move from the meta-world to AI. It is becoming a much

more real visual world which is allowing clients to be both immersive and experience the design and spaces before committing and also allowing to visualize a human-like visualize of the end result, exciting for the end user as it allows the story to be told as we see it in our heads at the concept stage.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

Design that is timeless, effortless and that is practical and that evokes an emotion in my clients.

We tend not to look at “trends” as such at the top end of the market and focus on design with some longevity, but what do you think our key trends/ideas or must haves for the coming year?

As a studio, we simply avoid trends at all costs. We live in such a consumerism world we like to steer our designs towards longevity of design both from a sustainable perspective and also one of designing with a sense of responsibility towards the environment. The investments that our clients make and the trust they place in us to ensure their homes still look timeless in 10 years plus.

What is your one recommendation for the year ahead?

Back to glossy and rich warm tones and seeing a large influence on more muted / lime wash tones will be around for a while. We try not to follow trends but focus on what is right for the client and the architecture / surroundings of the homes we are working on.

What are your currently working on?

We are working on 3 Barns currently in Mid and East Sussex. A 5 storey Grade 2 Listed Victorian Chelsea Townhouse, a family home in Esher, a beautiful 5 bedroom / 3 floor Riverside home in Derbyshire, a 6-bedroom Edwardian 3 storey home in Nottingham and a 4-bedroom Victorian 3 storey home also in Nottinghamshire,

What would be your dream project?

A fabulous home in Mallorca, a Finca perhaps or a small boutique hotel anywhere...

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I’m told by my partner that I’m a nomad, I don’t think I am, I just make wherever I am my home. A skill I learned growing up in so many locations, so you adapt to your environment which helps massively with the travel that I do for my clients. I spend a lot of time between London, South/West Coast, and my hometown Nottingham. Relax, hmmmm I’ve never quite mastered the technique!

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

Absolutely not no! I would love to but I’m married to my job because I just love it, so I don’t see it as work, it’s highly stressful but I also thrive in a fast-paced environment so for me balance is about ensuring I still get that joy from work and the rest naturally falls into place.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

As with any business, steady growth and to continue to protect my team and ensure they also love their days. My team are like family so protecting them, ensuring we progress as a team, and that we all continue to laugh together. That we work on fewer but better quality projects and that we continue to care.

“Transferring our client’s personalities into the everyday with excellence as a constant principal in all that we do”

REBECCA LEIVARS

Jonas Hertwig is the visionary VP and Director of Design at Daedalus Yachts, whose career has been shaped by an unwavering passion for design challenges and a deep-rooted fascination with boats since a young age. With over a decade of design experience, he co-founded his own Yacht Design Studio before joining Daedalus Yachts. In his role, Jonas is responsible for the exterior and interior design of all Daedalus projects, overseeing the entire product development journey from the initial sketch to the final handover. Based in New York City and split between their Brooklyn office and a shipyard in North Carolina, Jonas is at the forefront of advancements in technology and sustainability in the yachting industry. His work aims to disrupt the industry by creating advanced, sustainable sailing yachts that reflect a new generation’s values of minimalism, quality, and a balanced lifestyle. Jonas Hertwig encourages us to consume less and embrace mindful living, and his mission is to redefine luxury in a rapidly evolving world.

Please explain your job role briefly.

As VP and Director of Design, I oversee the development of our products from the first sketch to the final handover.

What led you to pursue this career?

I pursued a career in yacht design because of my passion for design challenges and their solutions, the balance between form and function. From a young age, I was fascinated by boats, which grew into the craft of optimizing style and performance. My studies in design in the Netherlands and Italy provided a strong foundation in design principles, aesthetics, and function.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

I have over 10 years of design experience and have worked with various shipyards worldwide before co-founding myown Yacht Design Studio with two French partners. After successfully establishing the brand and building a portfolio of clients worldwide, Ijoined Daedalus Yachts as Director of Design. I am responsible for the exterior and interior design of all Daedalus projects and currently hold the position of VP at Daedalus Yachts.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process

I often find myself searching for the simplicity of designers like Dieter Rams, whose work strives to distil complex ideas into elegant and straightforward solutions, eliminating unnecessary elements while ensuring clarity in both form and function. Architects like Calatrava, whose organic forms, spaces, and structures feel as if they are created by nature itself, and the minimalistic and timeless approach of John Pawson, to name a few.

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

Advancements in technology are exponential, which is heavily reflected in the design world as well as the yachting industry. A strong focus on sustainable production methods as well as new propulsion systems catapult new concepts to the forefront of the market. I believe the focus on the ecological footprint will become a major decision-making factor. We will focus more on the process rather than just the end product. The journey to the final product will highlight the band.

We tend not to look at “trends” as such at the top end of the market and focus on design with some longevity, but what do you think our key trends/ideas or must haves for the coming year?

I believe advancements in AI, 3D printing, and sustainable materials will continue to create more luxury and fewer emissions. Trends as we know them will last for shorter periods of time, and we will try to live more mindfully and focused.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

Through sketching, meditation, and weekends at an inspirational gallery. Living in New York City allows me to have this vast resource of inspiration in art, tech, and community.

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

I strongly believe in coworking and collaborative work environments. Recent years have shown us that work does not necessarily have to be bound to a physical location, which created enormous opportunities. Working in the design field, I often find inspiration when I am not working in various situations, which then merge work and life in a seamless and beautiful way.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

Disrupt the yachting industry with the most advanced sailing yacht in the world.

Final thoughts, or anything else you would like to share with us?

The global design sector will have to cater to a new generation of consumers which lead a nomadic lifestyle, will own fewer products, prefer rural environments over the urban cities, and who focus on the experience of products they interact with. Status symbols will include a balanced lifestyle rather than a physical luxury product. Clients will look for quality in the essential products they own and will do everything to slow down to counter the fast-paced society we live in. We will consume less and experience more.

Where were you born/ where did you grow up?

I was born in Haifa Israel but grew up in New York from the age of 5.

Please explain your relevant training/ work experience?

I am an interior design and have a passion and love for construction as I grew up with a dad who was a builder in NY for over 60years.

Please describe the highlight of your career to date. We cater to a high-end clientele and own a design build firm that handles everything from architectural drawing, 3D renderings, Construction service, complete interiors and furnishings installation and complete concierge turnkey installation.

How did achieving this make you feel?

I am so grateful for what we have achieved up to date that sometimes its sureal and I consider myself very lucky. Where do you find inspiration for your work? Alot of my inspiration comes through my travels as well as being conscious to the natural habitat that I am designing in because we do specialize in biophillic design.

How do you relax and find your work/ life balance?

A huge part of my relaxation is spending time with my family and making sure that we are surrounded by laughter and positive energy no matter what challenges we face whether its personal and professional. I would also say that a big part pf my relaxation comes from my travels.

Has this changed in recent years?

I think that as your career grows, it becomes harder to balance but we have to make it our point to do so as often as possible to maintain self-health as our industry can be daunting sometimes especially having high profile clients.

What projects are you currently working on?

\we are currently working on a brand-new construction of a house and guest house totaling appx 10,000sqft in Lyford Cay in Nassau Bahamas. We are also working on a brandnew condo in Montreal Canada and three condos in the Sunny Isles, Bal Harbor areas in Miami Florida. We are also working on a single-family home in Brooklyn NY totaling 6,000sqft from the ground up.

We design for the client based on their life, travels and vision. We are here to tell their story through our creative eyes.

Which direction are you moving in from a design perspective?

I would say we are moving up and taking on larger scale projects.

Final thoughts

I am so grateful to be in such an amazing industry with so much great talent that constantly inspires and empowers.

Joanne Mills is the visionary force behind J.M.M Design, a Kentbased firm with an impressive 25-year track record in interior design and architecture. As Director, Joanne has curated a talented team to bring her unique design vision to life across the UK, Europe, and even the royal residences of the Middle East. Her journey in design began with a love for fabrics and soft furnishings, which sparked her passion for transforming spaces through thoughtful and artful details. Over the years, Joanne’s work has evolved to encompass both interiors and architecture, with a particular affinity for period properties with a modern twist. Her eye for detail and deep appreciation for architectural beauty keep her inspired, whether she is crafting bespoke headboards or reimagining grand rooms with a contemporary edge.

Please explain your job role briefly.

I am an Architectural Interior Designer working across London and The Southeast of the UK, also across the Middle East.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

I started in soft furnishings many years ago and then moved onto interior design. I absolutely love anything interiors and how you can adapt a space to suit your clients’ needs and desires. I have worked on anything from studio apartments up to large villas and places in the Middle East.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

Site visits, CAD design, delegating amongst trades, sourcing of project goods, chatting with my relevant team members, preparing for consultations.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

I would say it is an amazing career to grab hold of, but you have to follow your own niche and do not try to fit into any other designers’ habits or portfolios. Make this all about you and your own way forward. Listen to the best of the best in the game to avoid mistakes and go with your heart.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

What inspires me personally are the clients that we meet along the journey with their amazing homes and dreams around them. My personal creative process is an intricate blend of exploration, concept development, space planning, material selection, furniture arrangement, and flawless execution.

Who has had the most influence on your career?

I am completely influenced by the ever-changing trade companies within this sector. Walking around places like The Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, and the shops within Pimlico certainly influence me. Without these amazing trades and the diversity between them, we as designers would never be able to make our design concepts become reality.

How do you build relationships with your clients?

By listening to them, and I mean really listening to them, their wants, their needs, their desires, and how they want to bring that home together to work for them personally. If you can master that, you have won their respect, and they will forever come back to you throughout their interior journey.

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

I feel there is a lot of diversity within this sector now. Design is certainly becoming more bold, more flamboyant, and more outrageous. You can literally colour drench complete areas of design now and then place a subtle contrast up against it and it will still work. It’s all about the balance, and at the moment I would say bold and beautiful is definitely in.

We tend not to look at “trends” as such at the top end of the market and focus on design with some longevity, but what do you think our key trends/ideas or must haves for the coming year?

I think colour drenching is definitely up there at the moment to set the current trend. If this is actioned correctly it will give you years of warmth and ways to balance interior charm up against it.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

Project goods, well designed combination coffee tables, these well-balanced combinations absolutely dominate the living areas and are becoming so versatile and on trend. The finishes around these pieces from woods to marble, stone, glass etc, it’s just limitless and ever-changing absolutely blowing our minds as designers giving us ample amounts of opportunities to create amazing spaces around them.

What is your one recommendation for the year ahead?

To work more with embroidered wallpaper. I cannot even begin to explain to you how this can completely define a room or backdrop or even joinery. It is literally jaw dropping in every possible way.

What are your currently working on?

An estate within Sevenoaks, two separate houses in Brentwood, Essex and two separate luxury apartments within Kensington, London.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I am a complete homely girl at heart. I live in a Kent Village, and I totally love everything about home. There was once a true saying called “Home is where the heart is” and that certainly relates to me. I live with my husband and two dogs, and we love nothing more than getting up each day and living it like it’s our last, amazing food, perfect walks in the Kent Countryside and relaxing on the terrace with best friends. I’m also a real foody, I love good local produce and working my magic with it to produce a mouthwatering meal or dessert. Relax time for me is simply heading off to the Middle East for a couple of weeks. It is my happy place, my total switch off place and a shopper’s heaven. Also, my children and grandchildren, there would simply be no life without them.

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

Quite possibly not, I’m a workaholic and anyone I know personally will tell you that. As much as I would like to say to you that when I leave the office at night the phones off and I start straight back to work at 9 the next day, that’s not how it works. My phone is on 24/7, and I have taken calls as late as eleven in the evening. However, I do have balance, Sundays are all mine to do whatever I please, and I certainly make sure that we enjoy that day to the fullest.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

To build an even stronger team, and within that team really drive the JMM Design passion into everything we action. Open a design studio within the UAE.

Final thoughts, or anything else you would like to share with us?

It has been a privilege to be shortlisted in the Awards again this year. Recognition for understated design within this division is a true statement and one I will be thoroughly grateful for within my design career, so thank you to design et al for the recognition.

What led you to pursue this career?

My family was interested in real estate while I grew up and my parents built and renovated numerous properties. Our favourite past time was to drive around and look at different neighbourhoods and the architecture around the city. I was always curious as to how designs were composed and the specific decisions that led them to the existence they now had.

I always felt that there was nothing more special than the feeling of your family home. There’s a scent and specific energy that can never be replicated because it’s a combination of those you love cooking, living, playing, and resting in the same spaces. I wanted to help create this feeling within the world for as many people as I could.

I also came from a line of Engineers and creatives. I feel that the interest in the technicalities of construction came by me naturally as well. Going after something you truly enjoy creates vulnerability. Creatives display and offer themselves to be critiqued with every design they create. This was initially something I feared. How terrifying to pursue something you love, with the sole hope that you may find yourself to be as talented as you are passionate. I therefore initially attended school for finance in part of this fear. A couple years later my perspective changed. I decided to live with the belief that the love, ambition, and tenacity I held for design would allow me to aim towards the highest level of excellence possible. I decided to trust in myself and changed paths to pursue my bachelor’s degree in interior design. I can say today that I am so grateful that I chose to follow my heart and trust myself.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

In the early years starting the business the days were gruelling. I do work long hours still; however, balance has become more important. I usually start with a coffee of course... and then we dive in full force. I start working usually between 7-8am and finish close to 6pm. I always have an ongoing list of tasks for all of the projects that need to be completed and I start my day reviewing these. I often work at least half days on the weekend catching up on things as well.

Days are scheduled around client and vendor meetings as well as internal meetings and on-going design work. Our work is deadline based of course and our projects run in various stages concurrently. Various tasks are completed in a day for various clients. Design work internally is completed with a lot of time spent on AutoCAD developing construction drawings, alongside 3D Sketchup modelling for visualisation aids. FF&E procurement is also tasked during the day and as per the phases of design we are in. E-mails, client communication and periodic site visits are all part of our daily schedules as well. For the business to succeed, during the week I set time aside to review and track our design hours, our financials, sales goals as well as our project management and scheduling.

There never seems to be enough time in the day! Some days I need to be dragged away from my desk and I refuse to put what I’m working on down, other days I need to put things down to come back more creative again. Usually to finish

each day none-the-less, I always review my ongoing task lists for what was completed and what is still outstanding.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

My advice would be to work relentlessly and with every fibre in your being as the early years are formative and vital in a career. Find a great mentor and absorb as much as you can. Look at your time as a running clock against who you want to become, because this is the reality of life. The faster and harder you can work, the further ahead you will be later in life. Knowledge (as cliché as it sounds) is power in this industry and much of it comes from experience and being hands on in construction on sites.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

Good design to me is when a design has been executed within budget to be as functional as it is beautiful. This carries different meanings and values to everyone. Whomever we have designed a space or a project for, should feel at ease in a space. This is completed through aesthetic captivation and practicality for the user working in tandem. Aesthetics are carried out through all of the principles of design, light, form, scale, texture etc... Practicality and efficiency are having a thorough understanding of building codes, clients needs and user behaviours.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design? I know everyone has been buzzing about AI in our industry and I do believe this will be the future. I don’t think as a tool to replace Designers, but definitely one that will aid in our sourcing and visualisation processes. This is something I aim to learn and integrate more into my business within a quick time frame.

I feel that we will use augmented and virtual reality software to transform static visuals into dynamic reallife experiences, bridging the gap between the digital and physical realms for our clients. This will only become more cost effective and accessible for the average consumer as time goes by.

I think the world of true personal customisation is becoming more attainable as we advance with construction and manufacturing technologies as well. We already see this happening in fashion and apparel in which we can tailor and order clothing virtually online. I feel some semblance of this will filter more into the interior design world as well.

Sustainability and classifications around the many rating programs is also very important within design today and will continue to be push through as the minimum standards to be designed within and around in my opinion.

What are your currently working on?

We are working on several private luxury homes and smaller residential renovations. We also have a new restaurant and a new hair salon project. We have a few multi-family projects under construction and are renovating a private airplane hangar. I usually have a mix of unique projects that challenge our knowledge and skillsets at various levels which is nice.

Curators of distinct and feel-good spaces

DESIGN & RESEARCH DIRECTOR AND CO-FOUNDER BLLENDDESIGNOFFICE

Helen Brasinika, the Design & Research Director and Co-Founder of BllendDesignOffice, stands at the forefront of innovative and human-centred design. Born in Greece and raised overseas, her multicultural upbringing has profoundly shaped her approach to design and lifestyle. With extensive training in interior and urban furniture design, architectural and spatial design, and a unique expertise in colour and materiality from the Pantone Colour Institute, Helen integrates a holistic philosophy into every project. Under her leadership, BllendDesignOffice has garnered numerous international accolades, recognized for its groundbreaking work in residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. Helen’s commitment to sustainability, adaptive reuse, and creating resilient, wellness-focused environments reflects her vision for the future of design, where tradition harmoniously blends with advanced technology and innovation.

Tell us a little about your background in design. As a child, I was deeply curious and constantly experimenting with materials and constructions, often pushing their boundaries to their limits—even at the risk of my own safety. Design was initially an unrefined, inner drive, a raw urge to explore and create. Over time, this instinct was shaped by maturity and the influence of diverse disciplines, allowing me to develop a thoughtful, multifaceted approach to design. My training as a Colour and Design Expert by the Pantone Colour Institute has also significantly influenced my understanding of materiality, culture, and colour as essential components of my design philosophy.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

My professional journey has been equally rooted in architectural and spatial design, engineering, urban sociology, and research. This combination enables me to work across scales, from interior and urban furniture design to urban design for social responsibility and master planning. I see every project as an opportunity to learn and transform—a collective experience that leaves a meaningful impact on stakeholders.

As the founder of BllendDesignOffice, based in Athens, Greece, I lead a multidisciplinary studio specializing in architectural identity, interior and lighting design, sustainable and landscape design, 3D branding, colour consulting, and research. My research background in culture, ethnography, and quantitative and qualitative research methods allows me to approach each project from a broad, informed perspective, ensuring that every design is tailored to its unique context.

Please describe the highlight of your career to date. We gradually developed our focus from small scale residential and office projects mainly in Attiki and Athens, to getting commissioned for upper scale and demanding projects that require expertise and know how in the Healthcare, Hospitality and Commercial Sector all over Greece. During the past 8 years we have expanded our business abroad getting involved in the design, research, execution and project management for very demanding commercial and residential projects in Bucharest, UK and Emirates.

Please describe the project you are most proud of to date, with reasons why this was a success?

We are very proud of all our projects, but specifically one healthcare project the ‘Healing Ribbon’ RADIO Actinology Sector for IASO Healthcare has a special place in our heart and marks a stepping stone for us as a design office. Working in a sector that is associated with pain and loss, is difficult and demands special care, knowledge and expertise in many fields-spatial design, psychology, material technology, research, and lighting human-centric design.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

I find inspiration in my multicultural background, extensive travels, and holistic approaches to living from the Far East. My diverse cultural experiences and the integration of research and empirical data into my design process provide a constant source of inspiration. Travel and cultural immersion are my way of re-charging inspiration ‘powerpacks’.

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

I balance my work and life by integrating wellness principles into my daily routine and maintaining a focus on holistic living, which is also reflected in my design ethos. Being a designer is very transformative and sometimes hard evolution that demands diligence, focus, daily education to remain knowledgeable, efficient, and effective in a rapidly evolving and competitive sector. Working among a great competition of unique projects and design offices, we feel blessed and very proud that our work has received wide and international recognition bearing the credentials of very prestigious and established International Design Competitions. When I say hard, I mean that constantly you must try to find balances, realign, negotiate, and keep a healthy distance to give the best at work and focus on family as well.

How would you describe your work/design style /ethos?

I was born in Greece but having lived abroad for many years the multi-cultural and educational background of different continents has infused my approach to design and lifestyle in general. Far East and its holistic approach to every living organism, plays a vital role in treating the natural and man -made environment from an organic perspective. This has informed our holistic approach to design and projects alike, and we choose to apply this approach in every phase of the design process, allowing elements from various disciplines to be incorporated in order to achieve the clients’ visions and goals without compromising our social mission. From the very beginning of our establishment, we embraced an understanding of the enormous impact the building and our surrounding environment has on our life and wellbeing. Every project therefore starts from the axiom ‘people first’ and by incorporating research informed data, we aim to bring or realign the balance of all the elements that constitute our surrounding environment.

What are your forecasts/ predictions for the future of design?

I believe the future of design lies in resilience, sustainability, and human-centric approaches. Design should evolve to create spaces that live and adapt alongside their users.

The positive aspect of the disruptive era we experienced was that people became more aware of their surroundings and their strong impact on their daily balance and wellbeing. Healthy air, lighting and safety have gained an important place in spatial design-whether it involves residential, commercial or hospitality projects.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?

Materials and colours and the way they interact with the natural and manufactured environment.

Final thoughts, or anything else you would like to share with us?

Whether residential, commercial, or hospitality, space design now prioritises healthy air, lighting, and safety. BllendDesignOffice is determined to keep focused on human-centred design for resilient spaces.

Julia Filippova is the visionary founder and owner of Julia Filippova Design, where her passion for interior design and construction shines through in every project. With a career spanning over a decade, Julia’s expertise covers a wide range of spaces, from luxurious villas to Michelin-starred restaurants, showcasing her versatility and attention to detail. Based in Oslo, she balances her love for design with a dedication to ergonomics and timeless aesthetics, creating spaces that are both functional and inspiring. Julia’s commitment to her clients, along with her continuous pursuit of innovation, has made her a rising star in the design industry.

What led you to pursue this career?

My love for design and construction was instilled in me by my Father. He is incredibly talented and hardworking. Since childhood I watched him build, including our family home, with his own hands and with the help of my Mum of course! For his efforts, our home even received an award for being an Exemplary House in the city where my parents live.

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

My journey in design began during my studies at the Institute of Architecture and Design, and over the past 10 years I’ve had the privilege of working in three design studios, each with completely different styles and project focuses. I have worked on projects for apartments, country villas, hotels, and Michelin-starred restaurants. This experience has enabled me to become a competent designer when working with different spaces and interior styles.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Each of my days is different but they all start early in the morning with responding to emails and prioritising tasks while monitoring schedules. Then I may have meetings at construction sites, or if there are no meetings that day, I can fully focus on creating project concepts and designs, as well as developing the technical aspects. Those who think that interior design is only about creativity are mistaken!

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

Stay curious and eager to learn and don’t let laziness get in the way. Take on every opportunity that comes because each experience will help you grow. With time and practice you’ll gain the confidence you need to do great work and make a real difference.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

In each of my projects I go beyond simply designing a space, I develop a cohesive concept and vision. Every detail is carefully crafted to convey the project’s philosophy, uniting all elements into a harmonious whole, from spatial ergonomics to the selection of materials. Each project tells its own story, embodying a unique identity that sets it apart. One of the most important aspects I focus on in my design work is the ergonomics of the space, ensuring that clients feel comfortable in their environment while facilitating effective and purposeful use of the area.

One of my greatest sources of inspiration is seeing the happiness on clients’ faces - or guests’ faces when it comes to hospitality projects. In those moments, you understand the true purpose behind your work, how you’re enhancing lives and contributing to the design industry as a whole. It’s about creating new solutions, introducing innovative materials and making a lasting impact.

How do you build relationships with your clients?

When it comes to managing client relationships, the most important thing to understand is that you are designing for

them. Design is a very subjective matter. If a client wants to make changes it is essential to accept that with politeness. However, the priority should be to understand what the client wants early on, to listen to them and to ask all the guiding questions. This will make your job easier by preventing countless revisions. But when it comes to standards and ergonomics it’s crucial to stand your ground because in the end the client will thank you for it.

What do you look for in applicants when recruiting for your team?

When recruiting for my team I look not only for professionalism but also for a genuine desire to learn, achieve and embrace mistakes as opportunities for growth. A passion for the profession is essential as it drives continuous improvement and success.

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

Good design to me is a balance of several key elements; a satisfied client, a functional and ergonomic space, and a timeless aesthetic that remains relevant 5 or even 10 years down the line, regardless of style. This harmony is what I strive to achieve in all of my projects.

What are your currently working on?

I am currently working on a project for an Arabic restaurant in Oslo, which will be a unique oasis of the East in our cold Norway. We are also preparing an interesting project in collaboration with A-One, a rental platform for exclusive luxury homes with tailored services in Oslo.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I live in Oslo, a city with a calm and moderate lifestyle, so I create constant activity around myself. My work is my way of life so I dedicate a lot of time to it, but I also love to travel to find inspiration for new projects. To stay strong and manage stress, I regularly practice yoga and sport. And I get positive emotions and energy from meeting with my family and friends.

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

After my experience working in the studio, in order to avoid burnout, I realised that you have to have a routine. Solve important things in the morning and stick to your schedule. But of course, this is not always the case! Therefore, sometimes after an intensive period, you need to remember to give yourself a couple of days to rest and sleep.

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

I plan to keep working on projects in Norway, but I’ve started getting clients from around the world, so I don’t want to limit myself to Scandinavia. I’m aiming to build a strong team so we can grow together and make a positive impact on the world of design, working on unique and exciting projects globally!

The brand's philosophy emphasizes Timeless Design: a unique approach that combines individuality with the enduring durability of style. It transcends fleeting trends, maintaining relevance through a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics. At the same time, each project remains one-of-a-kind, tailored to the specific vision and needs of the client.

Kevie Murphy is the visionary founder and principal designer at K.A. Murphy interiors, a full-service firm specialising in high-end residential projects. With a design philosophy that prioritises function and elevates beauty, Kevie’s spaces are as purposeful as they are sophisticated, each one meticulously crafted to balance liveability with elegance. Originally a law partner and Assistant District Attorney, Kevie discovered her passion for interiors after a home renovation project in Brooklyn Heights. This led her to the New York School of Interior Design and ultimately to launching her own firm. Kevie’s journey—from courtroom to design studio—is as dynamic as the spaces she creates. Today, she blends her enthusiasm, empathy, and precision to transform homes into personalised sanctuaries. Kevie’s life—shared with her husband, four children, and three homes—mirrors her philosophy that home is “ongoing, always changing, and forever a work in progress.” She believes a home is more than a place to live; it’s a “memory maker.”

Please explain a little of your career journey to get to this point.

Design is my second life. My first career was in law; I started as a prosecutor in Brooklyn and ended up as a partner in a medical malpractice defence firm. Then life happened…and I had four kids. About 6 years in when my last baby turned one, I missed work life and enrolled in interior design classes at the New York School of Interior Design. The rest is history. It’s a far cry from life as a lawyer, but I still get to use many of the skills I developed, and the results are much prettier.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Aside from wrangling my four kids to three different schools in the morning (which feels like a miracle every time), I am sitting at the office with my team checking off box after box to move along in a project. With all this comes not only the creative design choices, putting out logistical fires, communicating with contractors, vendors, etc. as well as doing everything we can to be strategic about our marketing, so we always have things to do for new publications, social media, networking events, etc. Every day is different, and it never seems like there are enough hours in the day.

What advice would you give to those starting out in their design career?

I think I would just encourage those who want their own firm to have this reality check: design is not all about picking out pretty fabrics and furniture. The actual creative design process is probably ten percent of the job. Most of it is the underside of completing a project which is mostly organisational tasks, making sure the project happens correctly in the right dimensions, on time, in the right colour, on budget, etc., as well as relationship management. It’s such a finger-in-every-pot kind of job, which is what I love most about it. There’s always something new to learn and new designers need to be open to that and to the fact that you are above all else an entrepreneur.

What inspires you? Please explain in detail your creative process.

I have always been passionate about research, so I am always on the hunt for new strategies in the design world, but also in business and brand development, marketing, fashion, food, travel you name it! Anything that feeds that part of my brain that always needs to learn, and I can apply to move my business and team forward. I’m also really passionate about luxury brands, not just for their products, but for their cultural impact, their creative process, and their history. My personal style is colourful, cohesive–whimsical luxury, but I love getting to know what makes each of our clients light up and making it happen. .

How do you build relationships with your clients?

We have a loyal client base, especially on Long Island, thanks to local publications, meeting friends-of-friends, and our level of service. After the initial meeting, it’s really up to us to know our clients, their tastes, and their interests. We have a strategic onboarding with all our clients to get to know their preferences- and from there, it’s just about using that knowledge to be thoughtful and take every opportunity to exercise hospitality.

What do you look for in applicants when recruiting for your team?

For me, determination is more important than experience. The excitement to be a part of the team, and desire to learn

and grow is something that simply cannot be taught. I look for the best of both, but that initial personality where someone will go above and beyond and take ownership of this company is an irreplaceable quality.

What is the most unusual request you have had in your career?

We had a client who loved music and had an organ speaker from the Grateful Dead. He requested that we have it on display in his music room and allow for it to turn to see all sides of it- showing off crazy amounts of Grateful Dead stickers on the back. We got a custom lazy Susan display to show off the piece.

Where do you feel design is moving in a directional sense, in your sector?

I think luxury design is moving past trend-hunting and aiming for timeless and personality-filled. Gone are the days of beige minimalism!

What defines ‘good design’ to you?

I’ve never believed that there was an on-paper answer to “good design.” There’s definitely a distinction between high and low quality, but stylistically it just comes down to what makes people happy. Over and over, I have done projects that look absolutely nothing like each other, a good design comes down to if the client sees themselves in the space.

What would be your dream project?

Because we have done all types of projects, it’s really more about the client than the type of house. Of course, I would prefer a full house to just a living room or apartment, but the best projects happen when there is a deep level of trust between the client and designer.

Tell us a little more about yourself: where you live, what you like to do, how do you relax?

I live primarily on Long Island, in our family home with all our kids and chaos. In the summers we have a waterfront home on the north shore, but during the school year we stay in the colonial home that I renovated and designed. To relax I love to read, watch a show, but especially research things I’m interested in– the curiosity never stops!

Do you manage to achieve a work/life balance? If so, please tell us how you manage to achieve this.

If I were aiming for a “proper” work/life balance, I don’t think I would have started my own company. In the best way, the work never ceases. I am the type of person who genuinely enjoys working; I enjoy my clients, my team, our projects, and starting each day knowing that there’s so many opportunities out there to grow and expand as a business and we really support each other in that. We want to be the best, and the best doesn’t clock out at 5pm. But it’s exciting work that pushes us to grow not only as designers and professionals, but as people!

What are your aims and ambitions for the forthcoming year and beyond?

We have more people on board of our team who specialise in marketing, communications, PR, and social media. It’s been fun for us all to contribute towards a common goal of creating a well-established name for our brand, so my hope is that we continue to succeed in that arena. We want to be front-page, viral, and with a waitlist, and we now have a great support system to be that.

Led by our Creative Director and Principal, Kevie Murphy, we are a New York-based full-service interior design firm focused on whole-home gut renovations, new construction, and full-house furnishing projects.

With offices in both Long Island and Manhattan and a growing team of 5, we specialize in high-end residential design

Our mission is to provide the highest level of service not just through our projects that are curated carefully to reflect each client, but also to create a deep level of trust with our attention to detail and hospitality. We strive for perfection in our projects, and seek to be represented as meticulous and inspired in both the eyes of our clients and the industry as whole.
