The Doobie Brothers

The Doobie Brothers were the first musical group at the Acrisure Arena. Dave Chapell and Chris Rock were the first entertainers booked. The first night of entertainment saw long lines and parking

problems, but they were fixed on the night of the Doobie Bros on December 16.

I saw lines going into the Arena for people finding their seats to move along quite smoothly. People who got their parking passes online got a

discount and had no problems getting parking. People were told what they could bring to the concert; most took that to heart and brought only what they were told.

It is cool in the Arena to keep the ice at the

right temperature. Most people I saw came dressed appropriately for a cool night.

The Arena main Ice Arean floor was covered. It looked like a sea of heads as you looked at the stage. Excitement filled the Arena. The Doobie

Acrisure Insurance Arena Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Acrisure Arena Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on December 14th.

Hundreds of people came to watch this free event. Local mayors, dignitaries, Owners, builders Burger Foundation, staff, donors, Hockey fans, and more. People filled the area by the 75 ft Christmas Tree that had its own lighting ceremony the day before. Owners and Acrisure Insurance members spoke to the crowd.

People wonder who Acrisure Insurance is, and that’s the way they like it. The insurance Company is one of the largest in

the world. They are in 16 countries. They noted that over 110 golf courses are in the Valley, and 100 are their clients to give you an idea of their scope. When the Lieweke Brothers contacted them, they were all in. The Burger Foundation is Key to this Arena with the land and their commitment. They are the landlords and partners.

They are making this a first-class, state-of-theart facility. The Valley will become the best place to visit in CA. Entertainment will have the best venue to perform. Ticket sales are almost sold out on all events. The Eagles

Tips to Avoid the Latest Holiday Scams

With the holiday shopping season in full swing, scammers are tricky at work, so the experts have tips on how to shop smarter.

The most common types of scams these days are online shopping, empty gift cards, and package delivery scams, according to AARP FraudWatch.

Kathy Stokes, director of fraud prevention programs for AARP, cautioned you should never click on a link

directly from social media or an unsolicited email or text.

“If you get an email from, let’s say, Amazon or Etsy or something, instead of clicking on that link that they give you, go and type that address into your web browser yourself,” Stokes suggested. “That way, you’re sure that the link isn’t malicious, you know, it could be a really good fake. “

Scammers also tamper with gift cards and place them back on the rack, so

the card gets drained shortly after a person pays for it at the register. Experts advised pulling your gift card from the middle or back of the rack and then examining it closely to lower your chances of buying one which has been altered.

Stokes pointed out authorities are also getting more reports of people receiving scam text messages. Purportedly from FedEx, U-P-S, or the Postal Service, saying there is a problem with your shipment

and giving you a link, she warned you should never click.

“Quite often what they’re trying to do there is capture your keying on your keyboard -- capturing your logins, passwords, user account names -- and all of that is intended to steal your money right from your accounts,” Stokes explained.

Scammers like to target people who get regular income from the government,

so veterans and those receiving disability payments should be especially wary.

For more information, check Stokes’ appearance on the AARP podcast In Clear Terms or call the FraudWatch helpline at 877-908-3360.

Coalition Teams Up to Save Sequoias

California’s old-growth sequoia trees are dying at an alarming rate - so land managers across the Sierras are mounting an emergency response.

Many of the biggest, oldest trees on earth have fallen victim to mega-fires, bark beetle infestation, and drought, all exacerbated by climate change.

Jessica Morse, deputy secretary for forest and wildland resilience at the California Natural Resources Agency, said multi-tree dieoffs are rare among sequoias. Only about 2 dozen were lost between the ice age and 2015, but more than

10,000 old-growth trees have died since 2020.

“This has been an allhands-on-deck moment where we have state, federal, local, tribal and nonprofit partners coming together to really address the sequoia crisis with urgency,” said Morse. “We’ve lost nearly 20% of the monarch sequoias in just two years.”

This year, the California Giant Sequoia Land Coalition has cleared dead wood and burned piles from more than 4,200 acres, with about another 22,000 acres to go.

Sequoia groves range from Lake Tahoe down to Sequoia National Park.

Teresa Benson is the forest supervisor of the Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument. She said the work will ensure that the groves can be more resilient to fire in the future.

“That work on the ground will result in fires having a more beneficial effect,” said Benson, “versus the highseverity fire effects that we’ve seen from the massive

fire events that have been occurring in California.”

Clay Jordan is the superintendent at Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks. He said the coalition is working with the University of California at Berkeley and others to

measure the effects of fire to inform the work going forward.

“We are conducting research and then sharing that information among all the land stewards,” said Jordan, “so that we can make science-driven decisions

to protect the resource.”

The coalition has already started planting 200,000 seedlings, including 25,000 baby giant sequoia, which will grow into the monarch trees of the next century.

Consumer Groups Slam Settlement with CarMax

Auto safety consumer groups are blasting a recent settlement between 36 states and CarMax - which fined the company $1 million for claiming its cars are safe when some are under manufacturer safety recalls and have not been repaired. California did not sign the agreement and has laws that allow consumers to sue in such cases.

Rosemary Shahan is the president of Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety, based in Sacramento.

“It’s going to make it easier for CarMax to get away with claiming their vehicles have passed a 125-point inspection without repairing deadly safety recall defects, as long as they don’t use the word ‘safe’ or ‘repaired for safety,’ “ Shahan said.

CarMax said in a statement that manufacturers are not authorized to repair recall defects. Instead, it claims it discloses all recalls to customers. The settlement requires that the disclosure include a link to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s online tool and that it be given out before people are asked to sign papers.

She added many of the defects are no small matter.

“They’re being recalled for safety defects,” she said, “such as the wheels

fall off, they catch on fire, the steering wheel falls off in your lap, the hood flies up in traffic. Or it has

HOROSCOPES

ARIES

It’s important to maintain moment to moment awareness of all experiences each day and of all who come into your sphere of life. If aware you will see their gifts (talents and abilities) and they will reflect your talents, too This is a great revelation. Allow yourself no expectations. Remain poised in observation to all that is around you. In this silence new values come forth, new perspectives, new realities you have been searching for.

TAURUS

Know that plans will change, feelings and emotions too. Memories will be part of the holidays this year and you have many of them. You will sense and feel special people no longer with us becoming part of your day to day. In memories, in spirit form, in prayers. Know they are still loving you, still close by. You will have new revelations about your work in the world. Perhaps art, a painting, a work of creativity. Follow the signs.

If not traveling then soon you should be. Travel offers perspectives that change the course of your life, shifting your present and advancing you into the future. With the retrogrades your focus turns inward.

Thoughts concerning money and resources become practical. You seek new ways to communicate. Make a plan, create goals and

make a commitment to study Compassionate Communication with friends and partners. You will never be the same.

New insights come forth about the people in your life. Before you had global ideas. But now you have come closer to your own life. You have a deeper more personal understanding about how others live their lives. This has created a change in thinking. You communicate your insights to those who care for you. Do become interested in what others think. Ask for their insights. This creates deeper connections. And then love is released. You are surprised.

Tend to your health. A health issue from the past may reoccur. If seeing a doctor, seek a homeopathic MC and/or a Functional doctor (MD) in your area or close by. Functional doctors diagnose, look at health and test differently. It’s important to have a new approach to all things. From health to work to animals to plants to co-workers. Mars and Mercury retrogrades offer revelations around desires, aspirations, communication and life concerns. Listen quietly. Information comes on little cat’s feet.

of happiness and enthusiasm and then playfulness comes into the mix and you recognize these are natural gifts within each of us and something spontaneous begins to occur. You begin to understand your life experiences from birth to the present and then you understand everyone else’s, too. And everything transforms daily in front of your eyes. And then there is joy that follows.

The past returns for review. Nothing can stop this. Gradually a new perspective appears concerning childhood home, parents, siblings, family interactions. Childhood impressions change like a kaleidoscope of colors. With revelations your understanding increases and you step unexpectedly into a state of compassion. To anchor this shift you reorder everything in your home. And a state of wonder follows you everywhere.

SAGITTARIUS

Life and its magical gifts have you assessing many thingsvalues, resources, priorities, what you have and don’t yet have, what you want and don’t want. You look too at what you considered lost (returning later in different forms). New and innovating ideas about your future work in the world. They take into consideration all your desires and aspirations, later to anchor in the world. A new land calls. You answer.

past. Look back as much as you can. Cherish everything. This remembering is a gift. Soon you will be stepping forward onto another path. All that is good from the past is still with you.

PISCES

Notice your creative expressions increasing with more feelings

So many thoughts occurring during this time. You attempt to find a pattern to a puzzle of life. You realize there are things you want to say (and not say) to family and friends. You notice all around is the light of insight and a new way of doing things and you review old knowledge and see how it forms the foundation for a new philosophy of life. Soon, quietly, new skills appear.

It’s good to create an “I am….” Journal. With Pluto in your sign for so long, all Capricorns have transformed, are transforming and becoming their greater selves. It’s good to see yourself in new ways, with new information being given about who you are. Write in your journal sentences beginning with “I am…” Write each day. See how you begin to unfold and express yourself differently. A new self-coordination, identity, harmony and creativity emerges as you write about yourself.

AQUARIUS

Perhaps you feel many endings or closings or approaching a curve in the road. There may be sadness or sorrow concerning something (someone) that is no longer. This will ease over time. New perceptions occur in the next days, weeks and months, offering an understanding of the

So many things change for Pisces during the retrogradesfriends, groups, hopes, wishes and dreams. You review the past year and your purpose. You discover how everyone holds a different importance in your life. There is a sense of a new world along with a new service calling, new relationships and a new form of group sharing to take place. You step more fully into inner worlds. While remaining very practical in the outer worlds. There is no confusion. Only peace.

‘Twas the Night Before the HOA’s Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and throughout the community Not a complaint was heard - there existed pure unity; The thank-you notes were placed on the bulletin board with care, In hopes that the board and manager would soon see them there.

The homeowners were nestled all snug in their beds, No worries of paint, roofs, or plumbing disturbing their heads, And the Vice President in her condo, and I in mine too, Had just settled down for a break from reviewing the dues.

When out in the courtyard there arose such a clatter,

I sprang to my balcony to see just what was the matter.

Away to the railing, I flew like a flash, But it was just neighbors with gripes to rehash.

I could not figure it out in the dark of the night Exactly what they thought gave them the right, But I knew from my time on the homeowners’ board, Our meetings these neighbors had routinely ignored.

Then in a flash, I noticed a jolly visitor, Who tried to join the group of inquisitors

He wore a red fur coat over an ample belly, and His hearty laugh made it shake as if it were jelly.

His smile quickly faded as they all turned away, They told him that nonowners had nothing to say, The (formerly) jolly man left as quickly as he came here,

Amidst the sound of what? Eight snorting … reindeer? In a moment came another, without much ado, He arrived with a viewpoint both refreshing and new, I knew instantly it was manager Nick, He knew what was needed and he brought it real quick.

He said “Now, Member! Now, Neighbor! Now, Bylaws and Covenant, Please ask a few questions before your next comment.

Now back to your homes, return to your castles, Please, just for today, let’s cease to have these hassles.”

He said “you by choice bought into this community, Which works at its best when all live in unity, Remember that your board serves you all for free, Hey, consider joining a committee or maybe three.

“You have no working

elves, so HOAs thrive when all work as a team, If all focus only on yourselves, a nightmare it will soon seem.

Your association is just like a large rowboat, If each rows solo, we all cannot for long be afloat.”

Amidst headshakes and handshakes, the courtyard then cleared, And I hoped that above still flew a sleigh and eight impatient reindeer.

Sadly, no reindeer or jolly elves returned to the site, But all reached out to others and started treating them right.

A different air began to stir and grow in our complex; The Golden Rule became the HOA’s theme and its text.

Manager Nick surveyed the scene, pleased, Knowing this group a happy future had it seized.

And laying his finger aside of his face,

He ran toward his

car as if in a race.

He sprang into his auto, heading home in a dash, And away he drove as quick as a flash.

But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight, HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

Don’t Neglect Heart Attack Warning Signs Over the Holidays

The American Heart Association is drawing attention to a startling study conclusion this holiday season: More people have fatal heart attacks on Dec. 25, followed by Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, than any other time of the year.

The study, in the Heart Association journal Circulation, pointed to disruptions in people’s routines and the added stress the holidays can bring as possible contributing factors.

Dr. Peter Panagos, professor of emergency medicine and neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, said that holiday stress, it can be a matter of degree.

“We know that chronic stress is a risk factor for increased cardiovascular disease over time, and certainly increased stress -- you know, sudden increases of stress hormones in the blood -- can lead to high blood pressure,” Panagos explained. “They can trigger cardiac events if you’re predisposed to them, to begin with.”

The Heart Association encourages people to manage

their stress, eat and drink in moderation, continue healthy exercise and sleep habits, and take their prescribed medications, especially blood pressure meds. And it stressed the importance of responding quickly to warning signs by calling 911.

Panagos noted chest pain is the most common, but jaw or arm pain, shortness of breath, unexplained sweating, nausea, or vomiting should also not be ignored.

Panagos cautioned people against prioritizing holiday gatherings over seeking care if they are experiencing concerning symptoms. However, he added that you do not hesitate to seek hospital emergency care because of news reports about emergency departments being overwhelmed with flu, COVID, and RSV cases.

“There are certain conditions such as heart attack, stroke, and major trauma, that if you arrive to the emergency department, no matter how busy we are, we are going to prioritize those symptoms and complaints,” Panagos stressed. “If you need quick and efficient, timely medical

care, you’re going to get that, no matter how busy we are.”

Panagos pointed out an ambulance is the recommended means of transportation to the emergency department.

“Our paramedics and EMTs are extremely well-trained for recognizing signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke,” Panagos emphasized. “Often, they will call ahead and give us some advance warning, so we can be prepared when someone who may be having a heart attack arrives.”

He added minutes can make a crucial difference and observed people who arrive by ambulance often receive care more quickly than those who arrive at a hospital by car and go to the main entrance.

As with men, women’s most common heart attack symptom is chest pain (angina) or discomfort. But women may experience other symptoms typically less associated with heart attacks, such as shortness of breath, nausea/ vomiting, and back or jaw pain.

Report: How Schools Can Lure Students Back to Community College

During the pandemic, California community colleges lost 19% of their enrollment, but a new report found many schools bucked the trend.

Researchers with the Campaign for College Opportunity found that some schools had more minor losses or even added students by focusing on equity and expanding outreach.

Colleen Moore, highereducation research and policy consultant who interviewed dozens of college administrators for the study, explained that financial support was helpful.

“All the colleges I spoke with talked about expanding financial supports somehow,” Moore recounted. “Through transportation and book vouchers as a means

of helping low-income students stay enrolled.”

Schools also relied on data analytics to see where students were stopping out and refine course schedules, curriculum, programs, and institutional policies to meet student needs better. They also increased partnerships with local employers to offer students a path to a job after graduation and tried to create a more supportive campus culture.

Moore added that many schools expanded their efforts to reach current, former, and prospective students.

“Some people talked about explicit efforts to divide up their list of students to contact based on race or ethnicity,” Moore noted. “And assigning the lists of staff that share that background as one aspect of their efforts to

make their campus more welcoming to all students.”

The nine schools with either smaller enrollment losses or

World’s First Net Zero Transatlantic Flight to Fly From London

the Atlantic. Virgin Atlantic’s inaugural flight in 1984 was to New York, which is one of our most popular routes today. It will be an honor to pave the way for this important business and leisure route to becoming even more sustainable.”

Mr. Weiss added, “This challenge recognizes the critical role that SAF has to play in decarbonizing aviation and the urgent collective action needed to scale production and use of SAF globally. The research and results will be a huge step in fast-tracking SAF use across the aviation industry and support the investment, collaboration, and urgency needed to produce SAF at scale. Our collective ambition of Net Zero by 2050 depends on it.”

long-haul routes and bring us closer to net zero aviation.

It comes hot off the heels of the world’s first sustainable fuel military transporter flight using 100% SAF, completed by the RAF last month using the iconic Voyager aircraft.

The future of low-carbon aviation is here. The first ever net zero transatlantic flight will take off from the UK next year, with Virgin Atlantic receiving government funding to fly across the pond using solely sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

In 2023, one of Virgin Atlantic’s flagship Boeing 787s, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines, will take off from London’s Heathrow Airport

and make the journey to New York’s John F Kennedy Airport – a trip made by thousands of people for business, family, and leisure every week. But this will be no ordinary voyage.

When entirely replacing kerosene, SAF can slash lifecycle carbon emissions by over 70% compared to conventional fossil jet fuel. This flight is expected to be fuelled by SAF made primarily from waste oils and fats, such as used cooking oil. Using 100%

SAF on the flight, combined with carbon removal through biochar credits – a material that traps and stores carbon taken from the atmosphere –will make the net zero flight.

Shai Weiss, Virgin Atlantic CEO, said: “As an airline founded on and committed to innovation, we’re proud to lead a cross-industry consortium of partners to make aviation history by operating the first ever 100% SAF flight across

Aviation is one of the most demanding sectors to decarbonize, and without urgent collaborative action, it could be one of the highest emitting sectors for greenhouse gases by 2050. Challenges include the need to scale up SAF production and the existing limit on how much SAF is permitted in jet engines by current fuel specifications. Today, 50% SAF blended with kerosene can be used in commercial jet engines. Using 100% SAF, the consortium will demonstrate the potential to decarbonize

British Transport Secretary Mark Harper said, “For decades, flying from London to New York has symbolized aviation’s ability to connect people and drive international progress. Not only will this flight pave the way for future generations, but it will demonstrate just how much we can achieve when we work together on a shared goal. For example, bringing together some of the best businesses and academics in the world led by a British airline.”

Virgin Atlantic is constantly innovating and is the preferred airline for Coachella Valley residents who wish to fly from Los Angeles to the United Kingdom. Currently Virgin Atlantic offers twicedaily services between Los Angeles’s LAX and London Heathrow, with plans to increase frequency to three times a day beginning in Summer 2023.

The Doobie Brothers, scheduled to play on the 16th, supported this Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Manny Lopez said the Whole Valley will benefit from what this Arena will bring. Then they

announced that Olympic Gold Medalist skater, Dorothy Hamil, would perform on the Iceplex, and everyone was asked to come to watch.

The Gallery was filled while 5 young skaters showed their skating abilities to music. An awesome day.

They also played some of the new songs from their new album. They thanked everyone for coming and were honored to be the first group to perform. They said they had written a book and fans should look for it. They kept our veterans and thanked the people who built this fantastic building. Then they introduced each member of the band. The Doobie Brothers were also a part of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony the day before.

I talked with several as they were leaving, and they said

they were thrilled to have such a prominent beautiful place for major entertainers to perform. So happy to have such an excellent Arena in our Valley. They were looking forward to going to more events. Hockey fans were so excited to see the inside of the new Arena. The parking lot has lots of lights to find your car. So no one has to look in a dark area. Walkways are also lighted, so finding your way around is easy. Lots of staff to help people who needed help to find their seats. The Firebirds Hockey Team had their first home game on Dec.18th. THEY WON. The Acrisure Arena was filled, and the excitement in the air was thick with yelling and screaming fans. The Firebirds showed their ability with a BIG WIN on their first time on their own home ice. I am sure the screaming fans made them more enthused about playing great. Fuego, the Firebird Mascot, was all over. He went onto the ice during a break and skated around, giving out t-shirts.

What a fun night for everyone. People attending were given a lighted piece of Styrofoam, so they waved their wands of red when they turned the lights off before the game. The Skaters were introduced as they came on the ice with fire bursts behind them. The Band played “Ring Of Fire,” and the National Anthem was played when the color guard and the Band came out onto the ice.

The puck was dropped, and the fans screamed. The Game was ON. Fans were waving, and one gentleman got in the aisle to get people to yell, Go Firebirds! The video screen showed fans in different ways. First, they were the Awkward Dad Dance and The Ugly Sweater videos. Next, they played “YMCA,” and fans were shown dancing to that by their seats. It was nonstop action either on the ice or on the video screen. During rest periods, men scrap the loose snowy ice off the rink. Then, during each Quarter, the two Zambonis would fill the rink with new water to make the rink clean again, and the ice would freeze quickly.

The Firebirds had 3 goals before the opposing team managed a goal. The puck

goes very fast from one end to the other. It is a tiny little black round thing. Players must keep their eye on the puck and other skaters. They must protect the goal tender so no puck can get to the net to score. I became a Hockey Fan last night, along with hundreds of others. Ice rinks in the Desert are new for a lot of people. They quickly learned about Hockey, which can be a rowdy sport where players are aggressive in getting at the puck and can get hurt. One player got hurt in the first period. After that, players’ layers fall during play and are up so quickly if you blink, you miss it. The final score was a stunning 4-3 win over the Tucson Roadrunners on Sunday.

You watch skaters take turns on the ice. One in the box and another climbing out onto the ice. When hit, I was told that a puck could go up to 100 miles an hour. I was behind the glass taking photos when a puck came to the glass in front of me. Two skaters hit the wall, hard, by where I was standing. You see how athletic they are. Their agility, hand, and eye coordination are envied in all other sports.

The game was over, and the Firebirds came out onto the ice with hockey sticks in the air...

Players were awarded titles, like the best player, etc. They skated out, and one player threw his Hockey still over the glass wall into the audience. One lucky boy grabbed it, and that player became his hero. Fans came early, which made finding your seat easy. Parking was less hassle as each event will get even more accessible. Leaving was no problem as they had people directing traffic. When thousands of fans come, it takes a lot of planning to do it right.

Caring for Older Adults

Managing heart attack treatment and follow-up care

As the proportion of older adults in the U.S. continues to increase, appropriate care for older people becomes increasingly important. In fact, caregivers and loved ones should be aware of age-appropriate care for heart attack or chest pain.

The first step is to call 911. Once medical care is started, age-related changes in general health and heart and blood vessels require consideration. And possible modifications in how people age 75 and older are treated, according to a scientific statement from the

American Heart Association, published in its flagship, peerreviewed journal “Circulation.”

The statement, “Management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in the older adult population,” highlights evidence to help clinicians better care for older patients. According to the statement, 30-40% of people hospitalized with ACS, which includes heart attack and unstable angina (heart-related chest pain), are age 75 or older.

“Older patients have more pronounced anatomical changes and more severe

functional impairment. Conditions not related to heart disease” said Abdulla A. Damluji, M.D., Ph.D., FAHA, chair of the scientific statement writing committee, director of the Inova Center of Outcomes Research, and an associate professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. “These include frailty, other chronic disorders (treated with multiple medications), physical dysfunction, cognitive decline or urinary incontinence.”

Normal Aging and AgeRelated Changes in the

Heart and Blood Vessels

Cardiovascular changes that occur with normal aging make ACS more likely and may make diagnosing and treating it more complex. These changes include large arteries becoming stiffer, the heart working harder but pumping less effectively, blood vessels becoming less flexible and less able to respond to changes in the heart’s oxygen needs, and an increased tendency to form blood clots. In addition, sensory decline due to aging may alter hearing, vision, and pain sensations. Kidney function also declines with age, with more than 1/3 of people 65 and older having chronic kidney disease.

Multiple Medical Conditions and Medications

As people age, they are often diagnosed with health conditions that may be worsened by ACS or complicate existing ACS. In addition, as these chronic conditions are treated, medications prescribed may result in unwanted interactions, or medicines that treat one condition may worsen another.

“Geriatric syndromes and the complexities of their care may undermine the effectiveness of treatments for ACS, as well as the resiliency of older adults to survive and recover,” Damluji said. “A detailed review of all medications –including supplements and over-the-counter medicines

– is essential, ideally in consultation with a pharmacist with geriatric expertise.”

Steps for Heart Attack Care and Follow-Up for Older Adults

• Call 911 if you notice someone experiencing heart attack warning signs. These include chest discomfort, discomfort in other upper body areas (one or both arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach), shortness of breath, or other symptoms such as a cold sweat, nausea, or lightheadedness.

• Consider treatment needs for co-existing conditions. An individualized, patient-centered approach is best for older adults.

• Get input from multiple specialists, including a pharmacist, to manage care and medications.

• People with cognitive difficulties and limited mobility may benefit from a simplified medication schedule, with fewer daily doses and 90day supplies, so fewer refills are necessary.

• The goals of care for older people with ACS should extend beyond clinical outcomes and focus on the quality of life and the ability to live independently.

• Do-not-resuscitate orders should be discussed before any surgery or procedure.

AHA Red Chair Series Explores Women’s Heart Health

The American Heart Association has developed a series of videos to educate women about heart disease.

The Red Chair Series is a four-episode series of five-minute conversations about an issue relating to heart disease’s effects, specifically on women.

Dr. Yolandra Hancock, a member of the American Heart Association Greater Washington Area Board of Directors, said as someone with a personal and professional connection to heart disease, doing the series was essential to her. In addition, since heart disease is a leading killer of women, she explained how it can happen.

“Women’s symptoms are usually discounted both by us as women and by the medical community,” Hancock pointed out. “A lot of times, women experience symptoms a bit differently. We get so busy taking care of others we may sometimes

ignore the symptoms of a heart attack. We may associate it with something else. We may just assume it’s indigestion or anxiety.”

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths yearly.

Hancock acknowledged people might see heart health as a challenge but finds managing heart health can be easier than people think. She suggested that one way to begin is to be mindful of what changes need to be made, such as a better diet and increased exercise. Hancock added people can work with their physicians to begin taking control of their heart health.

Hancock stressed one of the bigger challenges in working on heart health is symptoms are more prevalent when it is too late to do something about them. So, although the first videos are brief, she knows

there is an expansive future for the Red Chair Series.

“This particular series is part of a longitudinal information sharing,” Hancock emphasized. “We’ve done the Red Chair Series before, but this, thankfully, was my first time participating as

the host. But, we’ve done them before, and we plan to launch continuous series.”

Hancock’s favorite part of working on the series was knowing how it could help viewers. She added the videos are timeless for women of all generations and at

different phases of their lives.

NOTE: THE PROPERTY IS BEING SOLD SUBJECT TO A RIGHT OF REDEMPTION CREATED BY CIVIL CODE SECTION 5715. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property.

NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 844-387-2537 or visit: www.DelphiLLP.com/foreclosure-information for information regarding the sale of this property, using the following Trustee Sale number assigned to this case: 5021 00107-3722. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be available via telephone or reflected on the website listed above. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale.

NOTICE TO TENANT: You may have the right to purchase this property after the trustee auction pursuant to Section 2924m of the California Civil Code. If you are an “eligible tenant buyer,” you can purchase the property if you match the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an “eligible bidder,” you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this right of purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call 844-387-2537 or visit www.DelphiLLP.com/ foreclosure-information, using the file number assigned to this case: 5021 00107-3722 to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee’s sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee’s sale.
