The Blue Demons picked up a No. 10 seed for the second straight year and faced seventh-seeded Marist in the first round in Baton Rouge, La. DePaul controlled the first 28 minutes of the game, but ice-cold shooting in the final 12 minutes produced a 76-57 loss to the Red Foxes. The six-point lead at halftime was extended to 13 points with just over 14 minutes left in the game. Marist finished the game with a 32-2 run in the final 12 minutes as DePaul managed just a basket from Caprice Smith during the span. Allie Quigley led the Blue Demons with 15 points while Deirdre Naughton added 13 points, nine assists and six rebounds. The loss marked the second straight year for the Blue Demons of bowing out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Demons picked up a No. 7 seed and traveled to San Diego to face the No. 10 seeded Aztecs of San Diego State on their home floor – Cox Arena. The first half played even as the two teams went to the lock room with the score knotted at 36. San Diego State controlled the second half and jumped out to a 51-40 advantage 13:21 left in the game. The Blue Demons road their senior forward Natasha Williams and pulled within four three times in the final minutes but were unable to stage the perfect comeback. The loss marked the third straight year that the Blue Demons of bowed out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Demons earned their eighth consecutive NCAA Championship bid and were sent nearly 300 miles southeast to Cincinnati and Xavier’s Cintas Center. The 11th seeded DePaul team took sixth seeded Vanderbilt to overtime, but fell 83-76. It was DePaul’s first ever NCAA Championship overtime game and school-record fourth of the 2009-10 season. Freshman Anna Martin led DePaul with 24 points while junior Felicia Chester added a season-high 19. The Blue Demons knotted the game at 64 with 12 second’s left in regulation, Katherine’s Harry’s hook shot would not fall and DePaul’s defense stymied Vanderbilt’s final trip. Heading into overtime, the Blue Demons went cold and were just 5-of-12 from the floor while the Commodores could not miss and won the game behind 5-of-8 shooting in the extra period.
