ADAPTED RECREATION

These classes and events provide individuals with physical and developmental disabilities a chance to participate in recreation programs with their peers while enhancing their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. The whole community is invited to join in the fun! Every ability is welcome. Please contact instructor for accommodations or program-specific questions at 940-349-7757.

Children's Rec Programs, Ages 5-14

A comprehensive recreational program for participants who have physical and/or developmental disabilities. Activities will include sports, arts and crafts, and social activities. $20 session; $5 drop-in Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m. at Denia Rec Center

Social Connections, Ages 14+

Get to know new friends while trying new activities. Have the opportunity to go out in the community and see sporting events, movies, and plays, eat at restaurants, or just hang out together. Dates and times vary Sports & Fitness, Ages 16+

Sports promote healthy habits and leisure activities. Come and learn new sports and have friendly competition. Instructor led sports includes golf, tennis, hikes, kickball, and more. Included with Rec Pass North Lakes Rec Center Tuesdays, 10-Noon (Does not meet the first Wednesday of the month)

Art Therapy, Ages 16+

Learn a new skill and participate in activities that work on fine and gross motor skills, and promote nonverbal expression. Activities will include making soap, jewelry, paintings, and more. Included with Rec Pass North Lakes Rec Center Wednesday, Noon-1 p.m.

Monthly Dances, Ages 16+

Sensory friendly monthly dances. Friends, music, and light refreshments. $5 or rec pass admission. 7-9 p.m. at North Lakes Rec Center Sept. 9 | Fall Ball Oct. 7 | Ghost with the Most Nov. 4 | Friendly Flannel Dec. 9 | Winter Wonderland Jan. 20 | New Year, New Groove

Sweetheart Ball, Ages 16+

Bring your sweetheart or find one at the annual, semiformal Valentine dinner and dance. A catered dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Advanced ticket purchase required Feb. 11 | 6-8 p.m. at Denton Civic Center
