for success
Washington state’s Chimacum School District aims to be “the center of a vibrant community where all students and families thrive,” says Superintendent Dr. Scott Mauk. In support of this mission, the district wanted to transform the out-of-date spaces in its libraries into modern, multifunctional areas with a collegiate feel. In the junior/senior high school library, this meant an inviting circulation area, attention-grabbing shelving, comfortable lounge seating, and an effective instructional area. Working closely with Chimacum stakeholders, the Demco design team helped achieve their vision by: • Proposing changes to the zoning to optimize flow, increase adaptability, and harness natural light • Maximizing available floor space with integrated ColorScape® end-panel displays • Supporting equitable access to instruction with tiered tables and chairs • Stretching the budget by incorporating existing pieces into the design • Providing realistic renderings to guide selection of wall colors and product finishes
