MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT DELTA UPSILON INTERNATIONAL FRATERNITY
Dear Brothers: The two words most often heard in connection with DU membership are "justice" and "merit."
North America's Oldest Non-Secret Fraternity; Founded 1834
Justice: 1) rightfulness, 2) adhering to what is fail; honest and moral.
'1
The Principles of Delta Upsilon The Promotion of Friendship The Development of Character The Diffusion of Liberal Culture The Advancement of Justice
Merit: 1) the intrinsic right and wrong of a matteI; 2) legitimate claim to respect. Every person has a responsibility to promote what is fair, honest, and moral and as they do so they are entitled to a legitimate claim to respect. Justice and merit are part of the same package.
The Motto of Delta Upsilon International Fraternity
Ed Porter, Oklahoma '65
As DUs we each have the added challenge of advancing justice. The Advancement of Justice is one of our founding principles. Justice, Our Foundation. Justice is what we do . The principle of justice is not only the foundation of Delta Upsilon, but the foundation of our free society. As DUs we should always be looking for opportunities to advance justice on our campus and in our community. The volunteer leadership of DU is dedicated to this principle. The staff leadership is also dedicated and focused on this principle. Recently there have been some changes in the staff at our offices in Indianapolis. (See the announcement on page 6.) With change comes opportunity. DU is fortunate to have men of merit to step forward and continue to advance justice and advance Delta Upsilon. Dr. Allan Warrack, Alberta '61, will serve as Interim Executive Director. Brother Warrack is a man of vast and valuable experience as you will read on page 6. Many years ago Brother Warrack served as a Leadership Consultant (at that time termed a Field Secretary) and he has recently served on the Board of the Fraternity. He is intimately familiar with DU's principles and goals.
