STUDENT-ATHLETE CODE OF HONOR As a student-athlete at Delta State, I realize that I have obligations and responsibilities much greater than those of the average student. I understand that the needs of the program supercede those of my own and to put my desires before those of my team is selfish and detrimental to my teammates and overall success of the program. To be a part of the DSU program is to voluntarily put myself in the public’s eye. Because of this, I must act in a manner that does not bring shame or embarrassment to the program or the people associated with it. My teammates, coaches, trainers, managers, and anyone else associated with the program deserve my utmost respect, courtesy, and effort. Thus, I will do my best in the athletics arena, in the classroom, and in life, not to disappoint either them or Delta State University. I will also make a special effort to do the “little things” that will contribute to the success of the DSU Program. I will take care of my body, watch what I say and do, and be a role model of what a student athlete should be at DSU. I will attend, study and prepare properly for my classes in order to better myself and my future. I realize being a part of the DSU athletic program is a privilege and an honor. I am part of a team that will encourage and support the coaching staff, the administration, as well as others on the team. DSU has provided me a great opportunity to further my education and have exciting new life experiences that will enrich my livelihood. I acknowledge that not following or honoring this code of conduct, as outlined here and evaluated by my Head Coach, could result in either a suspension or expulsion from the DSU Program.
