Systems of Student Support 

Our Vision for Systems of Student Support: At Delta High School, a STEM-focused public high school, everyone matters. Nothing—and no one—is taken for granted. We believe that all students are capable of learning, and we provide a system of student support that engages all learners. There is a growing body of evidence that supports a need for greater academic and social support to enable students at all high schools to graduate and enroll in college at a higher rate. The strategies we have designed for building and sustaining these support mechanisms hope to ensure that all students are college and work-force ready upon graduation from Delta High School.

Teaching team will meet weekly to discuss student progress in a collaborative review process Delta teachers commit to early intervention and prevention for all students.

Teachers will receive PD to support implementation of Student Support systems, including data analysis As student weekly journals/Quickwrites are reviewed, advisors will support students with development of strategies to remove roadblocks. Timely adjustments can be made before larger interventions are required.

Students will journal: dialogue journal (or blog) with weekly Quickwrite of highs/lows (successes, challenges). Students will reflect on current progress, rationale, strategies/action steps for moving forward. Connect with Orientation activities, modified “Cougar Quest” with WSU partners, set of learning experiences (mini-courses, learning beyond walls, 3 days – AM – in August), begin with a summer experience, carry-over into the school year Part of capstone Project and Gateways

Partner also with ESD Participation in Summer Bridge: WSU faculty donating time as service
