U16 Ladner Strikers were all smiles after their win in Saturday’s District 5 League group cup final.

Strikers end season with cup win

Ladner U16 Strikers ended their season in style by capturing the District 5 Group “C” League Cup on Saturday at the Dugald Morrison turf field. The Division 2 Strikers earned a berth in the final by winning their last qualifying game against the Port Moody Gunners. The boys then duplicated the result in the championship match. The new turf field proved to be a charm for the Strikers who had the honours of playing the first-ever game at the venue back in September, then closed out the sea-

son at “home” in the cup final. The team also captured the cup last season at the U15 level. The roster includes: Alec Jantsch, Andy Haselhan, Chris Accili, Ciaran Sanders, Connor Kensley, Daniel Prea, Desmond Whitaker, Jordan Drab, Jordan Nevens, Justin Chan, Luke Bidulka, Matt Valastiak, Mitchell Lawson, Nathan Hilpert, Wade Milford and Alex Berenz. The coaches are Vince Milford, Chris Drab and assistant Nathaniel Gee. The team is managed by Todd and Cathy Nevens.
