Office of Student Success: Advising Mission & Framework The OSS mission is to assist students in the pursuit of their academic goals and personal development by providing quality academic counseling in an accessible, friendly, respectful environment that fosters lifelong learning and student success. We endeavor to do this through a collaborative educational partnership from orientation to graduation and beyond. Although support and guidance are provided to students by their advisors in OSS, our students are ultimately responsible for their educational success. Academic advising at Delaware State University is designed to provide students with a collegial and academically enriched college experience. As part of our core academic services, the four-year student experience framework offers centralized advisement that is proactive and holistic. Academic advising is provided by professional advisors while mentoring in career, research, and specific discipline-related guidance is provided by faculty mentors. As a collaborative campus community, students are provided with guidance, support, planning tools, and resources to make informed decisions that impact their academic success and career goals.
DSU Academic Advising Overview Under the Office of Student Success, the advisement teams are organized by college. Each college has a team of professional advisors that specialize in their college’s curricula. In addition, there is a transfer advisor that assists first-year transfer students in their transition to the University. Don’t forget to check out our advising FAQ webpage!
