Joint Finance Democrats oppose language offered by Rep. Nygren By Joe Pruski and Jake Kurtz DeForest Times-Tribune The Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee passed a motion late Thursday, May 14 allowing the Town of Windsor to incorporate as a village by bypassing the state mandated Department of Administration Incorporation Review Board. Rep. John Nygren, R-Marinette, introduced the motion, saying that while he does not represent the Windsor area, he does “represent members of my caucus who have a perspective here.” The item passed 12-4 on a party line vote, which came nine hours into the committee’s seventh executive session on the 2015-17 Nygren biennial budget. Motion 299 states that incorporation be granted upon approval of a town referendum provided the town has an equalized value exceeding $600 million, a population greater than 6,300, is currently bound by two or more cooperative boundary agreements, has established a tax incremental financing (TIF) district, and has a sanitary district.

or nearly 70 years, members of the Henry Family have tirelessly worked the earth to produce seed corn and other bounty. But today a portion of the grain grown at the picturesque Town of Vienna farm is being used to produce awardwinning handcrafted bourbon. And the timing couldn’t be better as the country’s thirst for the aged brown whiskey continues to grow with no signs of slowing. According to the Distilled Spirits Council, a leading national trade association, U.S. revenues for bourbon and Tennessee whiskey spiked by nearly 10 percent in 2014 to $2.7 billion while exports cleared $1 billion for a consecutive year. As expected, Kentucky leads the way in the bourbon market. It produced 95 percent of the world’s supply last year to the tune of

Nearly two months after announcing that its Fourth of July celebration was being canceled after 32 years, the Token Creek Lions Club has reversed course and now say it will resume the festival this summer. Event organizer and Lions Club member Dave Carlson in late March said that the well-attended and popular star spangled party would be coming to an end for a variety of reasons, with lack of volunteers near the top of the list. “It’s certainly a disappointment for me – as it is for a lot of people – that the celebration won’t happen this year,” Carlson said when the initial cancelations were made known. But a release issued by Carlson and the Token Creek Lions on May 14 reversed course and stated that the 2015 incarnation of the “World's Biggest Little Parade” and other Fourth of July fun would return for a
