A guide to using AirServer

Page 1

A guide to using AirServer AirServer allows you to mirror your iPad display to your PC/Mac. If your PC/Mac is connected to an interactive whiteboard, this allows you (and your students) to display iPad content wirelessly on the board. Step 1 Ensure that you have AirServer installed on your PC/Mac. Please pay the technicians a visit if it has not yet been installed on your machine. Step 2

To use AirServer to mirror your iPad, begin by double selecting the home button

Step 3 Once you have double pressed the home button the following bar will appear. Slide it to the right.

Step 4 Select the following icon and a list of available computers will appear. Find your computer by looking at the last three letters, which should be your initials.

Step 5

Select your computer and slide the bar called mirroring to on. If you have password protected your AirServer you will be asked to enter it at this point (details of how to password protect AirServer are included at the end of this guide) Step 6

Your iPad should now be mirrored onto your PC/Mac and interactive whiteboard. Unfortunately some applications do not allow AirPlay mirroring so please check beforehand. You can use AirServer to mirror up to four devices.

Step 7

To disconnect from AirServer follow steps 2 to 5 and slide the ‘mirroring’ option back to off. How to password protect your version of AirServer

Click on the AirServer symbol on your computer in the bottom right hand corner. From the drop down menu, select settings. Click on password and type in a password of your choice. Finally, press apply and your AirServer is now password protected. It is recommended that you either choose to share the password with your students and change it regularly, or password protect AirServer but turn it off for use in lessons.
