Two Caregiver Support Programs Studies show caregivers reduce stress, enjoy improved health, and provide better care when receiving support. PTC offers two groups that provide valuable information on relevant topics, leads on resources, and the opportunity to share concerns and tips with other caregivers. One group is specifically for those caring for someone with dementia. It meets on the first Monday of the month at 2 PM. The other group is ACES (Adult Caregiver Education & Support) is for any family caregiver, regardless of the diagnosis. ACES meets from 1-2:30 PM on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month in the PTC library. Come to one or both! Whether you are seeking information on available services, are feeling stress or sadness from caring for a loved one, these groups can help.

Growing Together Inter-Generational Program Children today are often cut off from grandparents and other older adults. They benefit greatly from forming trusting relationships with patient, older adults who have diverse abilities, talents and interests. Through these interactions, children begin to understand that aging is a natural part of the life cycle. Deerfield Park District likes to use the many resources that exist in our community. We hope to form a partnership between older adults and our Preschool students during the school year. We hope you will participate in this program which involves volunteering 2-2.5 hours, once a week in the morning or afternoon– spending time with a small group of children and their teacher. For details, call our Preschool at 847-572-2634.
