Safe Sitter Clinic

Safe Sitter prepares students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who is choking, and helpful information like what to do if there is severe weather. Skateboarding lessons

Private skateboarding lessons at the new Deerfield Park District skatepark are available from the Asylum Skatepark. The instructors are ISCPD/SKATZ certified and teach high quality lessons in a sustained and progressive way. This is also a great leadership development program where children learn the fundamentals and safety of skateboarding. Private lessons are available for beginners, intermediate or advanced level skateboarders. 48 hours advance notice required. Everyone Has Fun! Build Your Own athletic Program

Gather your friends and build your own athletic program! Do you want to participate in some of the amazing programs the Deerfield Park District has to offer, but are worried about being in a class with others that you may not know? We can help you shape your own recreation “pod” experience with your friends. The Deerfield Park District is partnering with Hot Shots Sports to bring you this program. Your “pod” can have up to nine kids. Coach Pitch Softball

Participants learn the basics of softball in a fun environment that allows them to develop all skills of the game. Coaches pitch to the participants during batting practice and scrimmages, while also placing emphasis on how to field, run the bases, and understand the basic rules of the game. A slightly faster paced environment will be geared around competitive play, encouraging tactics such as attacking the basket and aggressive defense. Karate

Karate classes help develop confidence, strength and coordination skills with a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Soccer 101

Players are introduced to the fundamentals of soccer tactics such as passing the ball, offensive moves, defensive moves, keeping/controlling the ball and taking the ball away from the opposing team. Players learn to score and prevent goals. Physical endurance and fitness are emphasized while touching the ball. At this age, the focus starts to change from simple games to organized, tactical, competitive games.

In the next stage of their progression, players increase their playing stamina and speed in an up-tempo game like atmosphere. The clinic’s specific technique training involves strength and placement shooting, landing on the shooting foot, precision passing, settling the ball with various body parts and advanced fundamentals and skill maneuvers. Taekwondo

Taekwondo benefits people of all ages and physical abilities to improve concentration and self- esteem, achieve lifelong physical fitness and learn self-defense skills. Beginning Rhythmic Gymnastics

If you like music, dance, tumbling, and creativity, you have to try rhythmic gymnastics. It combines the beauty and artistry of dance with the strength and power of tumbling. Gymnasts perform routines to music using hand apparatus such as ribbons, balls, hoops, ropes and clubs. In the beginner class, girls will learn the basic body positions, elementary apparatus handling and musicality. Gymnasts may wear leotards or basic dance clothes.
