Skill Development Programme in UP Description- Skill Development Programme in UP is among the numerous welfare programmes rolled out by the state government to facilitate gainful employment to young India. It specifically targets the age group of 14-35 year old youngsters who are into earning their own livelihoods. According to Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has been launched to train around 23 lakh candidates, a target to be covered in next three years. The initiative was undertaken to offer skill training in the field of retail, hospitality, beauty culture and healthcare to the residents of Banda, Gautam Budh Nagar, Jalaun, Hamirpur and Saharanpur. It has been designed basically for the youth falling in the age group of 14-35 years in all over the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. UP Skill Development Mission The mission aims to cover at least the targeted population in order to provide gainful employment to the youngsters in their fields of training. The key stakeholders in the skill development programme in UP include the directorate general of employment and training at the apex with line departments, technical consultants, mission director, training partners and assessment agencies. The first step towards developing skills is candidate profiling if they belong to the group of beneficiaries or are of a specified age. Skill Training for Rural and Urban Youth Batches are formed on preferential choices if a skill development NGO or organisation is to impart training under various schemes being implemented in this region. All participants are assigned to their allotted training partners that are allocated to schemes on confirmation. Though, the training module or set-up is subjected to change based on the placement record or budget availability. A non-profit organisation trains the youth towards becoming self-reliant, develop their entrepreneurship capabilities and feel empowered. PCF India Skill Development Programme One of the prominent efforts in the area is of PCF India skill development programme that runs under a skill academy in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. It offers training to youngsters from both urban and rural India to become unarmed security guards who are placed in related jobs. These young people are generally picked up from the vulnerable sections of the society who have trouble finding jobs owing to their underprivileged backgrounds. As they are lacking in education or skills of importance, the big deal is to make them experts in respective areas irrespective to their level of literacy. Infrastructure for Capacity Building The institution was first started with preparing 40 men but today, has grown into a batch of around 150 individuals to be trained at a time. The 150 people are offered expertise in the areas like fire fighting, computer literacy, soft skills, hospitality, security already and has been looking forward to expand to real estate. Their method comprises group work, audio-visual aids, lectures, role play, peer education, on-the-job training and practical sessions. Here, the expert panel includes seniors and industry leaders who sit down to plan a course keeping with the quality and industry norms.


They provide lessons at a well-laid complex equipped with the infrastructure containing simulation camps, lecture rooms, stores and administrative blocks with free lodging facility. These initiatives have been underway in tandem with the skill development programme of the government of India.
