5 New Airport Lounges Opening in 2019 This New Year sees the opening of more premium airport lounges, enhancing and improving the passenger experience with excellent facilities.

Here are some of 2019’s new and upcoming lounges…

United Airlines Polaris Lounge, Los Angeles International Airport Last Saturday United Airlines opened its newest Polaris Lounge at LAX, which is available for Polaris business class passengers. The lounge is located in Terminal 7 and is over 14,000sq ft, accommodating up to 120 passengers. Most of the facilities in this lounge are similar to the other Polaris lounges, including luxury shower suites with rainfall showers and Soho House & Co’s Cowshed Spa toiletries, private daybeds with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, an international buffet station, a table service dining room and a bar featuring signature LA cocktails. Very snazzy!

Star Alliance Branded Lounge, Guangzhou airport Star Alliance will be opening a new branded lounge this year at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, which is part of a plan to provide dedicated facilities for premium customers including co-locating gate facilities, check-in areas and connection services at Guangzhou’s Terminal 1. This new lounge can be used by passengers of the ten Star Alliance member airlines that serve the airport, which includes Air China, Egypt Air, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways. Facilities will include work stations, magazines, a selection of cuisines and hot and cold drinks, Wi-Fi access and a TV area.

American Express Centurion Lounge, London Heathrow This year American Express will be opening its thirteenth Centurion lounge, which will be situated at Heathrow Terminal 3’s departures level. It’s the first to open in Europe which is an exciting concept. American Express Platinum Card Members and Centurion Members have access to the lounge which


will span 7,000 sq ft. Facilities will include complimentary food and beverages, high-speed Wi-Fi, private work stations and premium showers, as well as specially curated amenities which will be inspired by London.

Club Aspire Lounge, London Gatwick A new Club Aspire lounge will be opening at Gatwick’s South terminal in the first half of this year. The pay-to-access lounge will facilitate up to 130 travellers with three dedicated sections; a business section with work stations, a quiet area with runway views and dining space with a bar and buffet station featuring hot and cold dishes; there is a space for every type of passenger here. Unlimited Wi-Fi use, free magazines and newspapers and charging points for devices will also be available for customers. Lounges really do make a huge difference to the airport experience.

Plaza Premium Lounge, Helsinki There’s a new Plaza Premium lounge opening at Helsinki Airport’s non-Schengen terminal in February for passengers departing, arriving and connecting flights. This new premium lounge offers a wide selection of fantastic facilities and services for customers to take advantage of before, after or between their journeys, including a range of comfortable seating options, a bar, live kitchen, complimentary Wi-Fi, work stations, shower facilities, recharging zones and a children’s zone, which is ideal for families.
