• Bart Deckert — the father of Today editor-in-chief Bruce Deckert — died at age 52 in June 1991, and if he were alive today he would have turned 86 this month— his brother Gary, three years younger and Bruce’s favorite uncle , died on November 1 as this edition was under construction • Bart had lifelong issues with the church, yet his favorite biblical passage from Isaiah 40 features a distinctive eagle reference — “Those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they2 shall walk not faint” – TODAY MAGAZINE NOVEMBER 2024and – www.TodayPublishing.net
• Ann ( Deckert ) Baker, Bruce’s mother, had a strong faith in God and was a loyal church attender for her entire life — she died at 72 years of age in August 2009 — This edition is dedicated to Gary and Jean Deckert as well as Bruce’s Mom and Dad
