MINDFULNESS FOR FAMILIES SAMPLE SCHEDULE 2 introductory sessions, 4-8 weekly sessions, 1-3 follow-up sessions Initial Parent Interview (60-75 minutes) —brief history, reason for visit —current concerns and goals —define/explain basics of mindfulness —overview of mindfulness exercises/activities for families —parent agreement for weekly home practice —review fees and policies Initial Family Session (60 minutes) —introductions, define mindfulness —discuss benefits of mindfulness —demonstrate and practice simple exercises, which might include mindful breathing, relaxation exercises, mindful eating (adapted per family) —select weekly (or bi-weekly) home practice—who, what, when, for how long Ongoing Practice (minimum 4 sessions, total TBD, 45 minutes each) —review home practice, tweak as needed —discuss successes and challenges —practice new activities, exercises (per family needs, goals—could include additional breathing, listening, walking, movement, coloring/art, eating, etc.) —select home practice Follow-up Sessions (TBD) —review progress —learn additional practices, add resources as needed —discuss goals for continuing home practice
