Traditions Antiques Just a few miles down the road in neighboring Corinna (follow 43 east till it intersects with Moosehead Trail Rd.) browse this old barn and the still standing general store with its many booths chock full of fantastic antiques, collectibles, trinkets, and just plain ol' junky funky finds. While you're there, enjoy their cute coffee nook with petite cafe tables. Or just amble across the street to one of the oldest running bakeries in this area. Adjacent to the parking lot, lies an ATV/Horse trail that meanders across the river and then for miles up north toward Dexter or south to Sebasticook Lake. Hike It Up Day Hike: Borestone A scenic morning drive north on 152 through Cambridge & Sangerville to the mountains surrounding Sebec Lake. Borestone Mountain, part of the Maine Audubon Sanctuary, is a great family hike for most ages and abilities. The rocky summit can be a bit tricky but there are handbars and rails to grab and scramble on up to the spectacular view from the top. Before the final ascent, is a lovely pond outfitted with picnic tables and a snack bar (check for hours). There's also a nicely equipped (and clean!) outhouse facility before reaching the pond. 5 Stars and definitely worth the climb! www.maineaudubon.org | Info+small hiking fee. www.mainetrailfinder.com for nice map.

The Hansen Farm

Patten Farm

The Hansen Family were the first owners to really turn this farm into the storybook farm it was known to be. They added the front gingerbread porch, built the massive multi-storied barn, and planted several maple trees.

combustion of damp hay bales stored in the barn. Linda Patten, who graciously shared these old photos, grew up on this farm as a child and later her two daughters spent many glorious years rambling the fields and new red cattle barn that was built on much of the old foundation from the original barn. The girls' grandmother, Barbara, played the organ for the local church in St. Albans and that same organ still sits in the living room today.

A newspaper photo (above) captured firefighters valiantly containing flames from consuming the rest of the house. Investigators later determined the fire resulted from the

The recent owners bought the farm from the Patten Estate in June of 2012. Debbie, originally from Lucas, Texas, longed for a New England farmhouse and acreage for her four kiddos to run loose as well as bring on the horses, chickens, and critters. She reveled in the fact that, besides the large unwelcomed skunk that greeted them upon arrival, the farmhouse had remained virtually a turn-of-the-century time capsule with original doors, build-ins, and tin ceilings.

A sleek and simple office stolen from space between these east windows. This upstairs room feels like a treehouse overlooking the two large maples flanking each window and the porch below. Big Indian Lake appears through the bare trees of winter and these pale bedroom tones mimic the sunset clouds.
