Packing Tips for Storing Furniture Your furniture is one of the most important things you will store. No one wants to buy all new furniture when moving, so protecting your items as best as possible is like providing your own insurance policy. It helps prevent damage and ensures when you’re ready to move things back into your space, they look like they did the day you put them in storage. **If possible, use wooden pallets or skids. Anything that lifts your furniture off the ground will help to keep it clean, dry, and well ventilated. **Disassemble pieces that can be taken apart, store them nicely, label things and keep screws and parts handy in a bag. **Wax wooden and leather items to prevent them from drying out and cracking. **Spray fabric items, such as couches, with an antibacterial spray that is safe for fabric. Clean fabric items to protect them against mold.
