Why playgrounds for school age children? Today’s primary school children lead far too sedentary lifestyles. This comes at a high cost: • D ue to sedentary lifestyles and physical inactivity, children today have a 5 year shorter life time expectancy than their parents*) • 58% of the 6-11yearolds do not meet the minimum requirements for physical activity**) • Approximately 75% of the 11yearolds do not meet the minimum requirements for physical activity**) *)World Health Organisation **) OECD (2012); Health at a glance The decrease in physical fitness and motor skill proficiency impacts children’s social capabilities as well as learning capabilities negatively, research shows. This is why the motivation of active play for school age children is more important than ever. Apart from being fun, physically active play helps children develop fundamental physical, social and learning skills.
Age Appropriate Play – tested and approved by children Children’s motivation to play is central to KOMPAN’s play designs. So is their physical, social-emotional, cognitive and creative development. To make sure that the play and activity solutions are fun and have physical as well as social holding power The KOMPAN MOMENTS school age designs are tested by children and evaluated by them, their teachers and the KOMPAN Play Institute during the development process.

MOMENTS™ School Age Combination System KOMPANS new school age assortment is designed to provide age appropriate play for schoolage children. Numerous physical activities and play panels are created in close cooperation with the KOMPAN Play Institute, verified by user group interaction and incorporated in the new play structures. The assortment contains a number of standard products in different sizes including challenging Mega Deck play structures. Some new products are predesigned to provide accessibility for disabled children for them to participate in play with other kids on the playground. All standard products are available in three different color lines, two different post materials, three types of roofs, several slide options and all possible types of anchoring. Play activities can be selected to match individual preferences. For urban settings we have designed a special vandalism proof material combination.

Integrated shading KOMPAN has designed an integrated shading solution that enlarges the covered area considerably. Integrated shades is available for the large square floor size and the Mega Deck platform The shades are made of polyester and tensioned by adjustable brackets. The polyester shades are quite robust and it is only necessary to take them down if there is heavy wind.

Durable materials KOMPANS new school age products are made of durable materials for any play environment and covered by the general KOMPAN lifetime warranty. The new assortment also offers a special vandal proof material specifications where the floors, panels and roofs are made in aluminum to ensure safe play solutions in urban settings.
Posts & footings
Post of either pressure impregnated pine wood or pre-galvanized powder coated steel. Both with a diameter of ø100cm. Adjustable aluminum/steel footings.
Roof, Side & Play Panels
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) panels in the KOMPAN EcoCoreTM Brand. The panels has a lifetime warranty.
Floors
High pressure laminate (HPL) panels full supported by an aluminum frame.
Slides
Rotation moulded plastic slides as single, double, curved modular and tube slides. Full stainless steel single and wide slides.
Metal activities
Access and egress activities in stainless steel. Climbing ladders and links in hot dip galvanized steel.
Climbing nets
UV-stabilized polypropylene (PP) rope with an inner steel cable reinforcement. The tensile strength of the rope is 2.500 kg. Net connectors of moulded polyamide (PA).
Urban specification
Floor, panels and roofs in aluminum metal with powder coated top finish. All edges are covered by HDPE components.
