Fresh out of London College of Fashion with a Degree in Accessories Design tucked under her leather embellished belt, this half Italian, East London girl Daniela Deiana has followed her passion of Accessories design by launching her first collection. The 23 year old’s designs allow her talent of craft and intricate detailing to seep through her collection, with a focus on texture and a new sustainability, which is both technical and experimental. Materials are carefully selected to ensure they enhance and compliment the skill or craft they are performing. The A/W12 collection is taking inspiration from photography of a visit to India. Tonal colours are a strong focus such as whites on white and grey’s on blacks, with a splash of colour discretely seeping through for added style. Daniela wanted to combine a mixture of materials and techniques to create a new type of product with influences of traditional skills. The collection has a combination of materials from dyed cotton mooring rope detail, to the traditional Italian Vegetable-Tanned leather from Tempesti, cut into strips to perform the ancient art of Macramé. Macramé is a craft that has been around for over 100 years and was originally performed by sailors. By weaving this traditional craft with her contemporary ideas, Daniela has created innovative and unique pieces in her A/W12 collection. The moody, sophisticated and individual finish is thanks to each piece being hand crafted from start to finish. Daniela will continue to experiment with different crafts and push them to their limits by adding her own creative twist for each season.
