VIC – HERITAGE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB - THE HENLEY COURSE TUESDAY 27th NOVEMBER 2007 Our host venue for the 2007 National Final was the prestigious Heritage Golf & Country Club, located in the picturesque surrounds of Victoria’s Yarra Valley, complimented by the luxurious resort accommodation provided at The Sebel Heritage Yarra Valley. This year the National Final was played on the new “Henley Course” – one of two Championship Golf Courses at this premier golf resort. Opened in late 2006, the new Henley Course designed by Tony Cashmore, is a traditional links-style golf course unique in its design and contrast to the stadiumstyle St John Course. The Henley offers a challenging golfing experience and the ideal host venue for our 2007 National Final. This year the National Series invited 7 State Finalists representing VIC, NSW, QLD, WA, ACT, SA, and NT to compete for the title of 2007 National Champion. Each state finalist had won the “Overall Individual Stableford” division in their respective State Qualifying events earlier this year. A pre-event dinner hosted by the Drummond Club Management Team (Lee, Sam and Anthony) with Brett Ogle and wife Rikki, kicked off the year-end celebrations together with our 7 State Finalists and their accompanying Family and Friends. Brett was in fine form as usual and a very pleasant night enjoyed by all! The DC Team ensuring all had an early night! On the morning of the event, Titleist/Cobra, Ping, Cleveland, Wilson and TaylorMade joined us on the Driving Range for players to enjoy a warm-up and opportunity to test-drive the latest range of Drivers and Flexiway provided complimentary teepacks. Out on course, Angostura provided refreshing drinks for all and there was a host of novelty competitions for players. The National Final included both an Individual and Team Stableford Competition for our final field of 135 players, whilst our 7 State Finalists competed for the grand prize of 2007 National Champion. Also joining us for the day’s competition were Drummond Golf Head Office Representatives, David Mattingly (Chairman), Ravi Abeyaratne (Director of Marketing) and Jamie Cooke (Director Product Purchasing), 4

together with many staff representing our local Victorian Drummond Golf stores Nunawading, Bendigo, Preston, Kew, Cheltenham, and Dandenong. At the completion of the round players returned for a sumptuous BBQ Buffet Lunch and our Yarra Valley Winery Partners -De Bortoli and Balgownie Estate Vineyards provided a complimentary wine-tasting during lunch and the Prize Presentations. We are pleased to announce our “2007 National Champion” is Peter Allen representing NSW. Peter played a terrific round with a final score of 45 points. In the other divisions, Frank Greco was our winner on the day in the Overall individual Stableford Competition (Score 44 points) and Tony McLean (Drummond Golf Nunawading) together with Drummond Club members, Graeme O’Toole, Andrew Westbury and Steve Matthews took out 1st Place in the Team Stableford Competition (Score 53 points). DRUMMOND CLUB NATIONAL EVENT SERIES CHAMPION Name: Peter Allen Home Club: Waratah, NSW (in Newcastle) Current Handicap: 26, plays golf fortnightly Favourite Golf Courses: Cypress Lakes in the Hunter Valley, NSW & The Henley course at The Heritage, Vic Golfing Background: Started playing at about age 14 and played regularly until age 21 when I returned to study to complete the Building Foreman and Clerk of Works Post Trade Course. The best handicap that I achieved was 13.Then in 1990 I established my own business and while I continued to play basketball I didn’t have enough time to play golf. I was lucky to play in trade days twice a year. I got back into golf twelve months ago when a few of my friends who are also self employed in the building industry started to play on a Friday afternoon and invited me to join them. I got bitten by the golf bug again. Clubfit Experience: When I got back into golf 12 months ago I decided to buy a new driver and headed off to the Drummond store in Newcastle. I tried out a number of drivers and received terrific help from Chris Gaffney at the store. Within a couple of months I decided to purchase a complete set of new clubs. After the great service I received from Chris when I purchased the driver I went back to him when looking to purchase the new set. The clubfit experience is great. It really helps find the clubs that suit you and your game. The custom fit is important when you are tall and thin like me (188cm and 70kg) and hit the ball low. Local Drummond Golf Store: Kotara (Newcastle) Heritage experience: My wife and I decided to get away for a few days and enjoyed staying at The Heritage for the weekend prior to the final. Lee Midson made all our travel arrangements and all wet very smoothly. The accommodation and facilities were great and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I played the Henley course on the Sunday prior to the final and had only 28 points. I didn’t perform much better on the Monday, having 106 off the stick playing the St Johns course. Hence it was a real surprise to score 45 points in the final. The organisation of the final series was outstanding. The dinner held on the night before the final was very enjoyable with Brett Ogle in good form as usual. Everything went like clockwork on the day of the final. The other finalists were great company and we enjoyed quite a few drinks together in the afternoon and evening after the final. Final Words: I would encourage all Drummond Club members to get along to the golf days. They are well organised and held at quality courses. As well as a fun day out and the prizes are terrific

STATE F I N A L W R A P- U P WA – JOONDALUP RESORT – 21ST OCTOBER 2007 WA STATE A “sell-out” and capacity field of 140 players participated in our 2007 WA State Final held at the prestigious Joondalup Golf & Country Club – a Championship golf course, regarded as one of WA’s premier private golf resorts. Pre-event, players enjoyed product promotions by Flexiway, a free golf ball fitting and 2-ball sample pack courtesy of Titleist, and a Callaway Putting Competition prior to start. On-course, Oakley provided a display of the latest Oakley eyewear and golf shoe range. Fine weather conditions were enjoyed and the course was in excellent condition with immaculate “lightning fast greens” - a fitting stage for our final WA event for the 2007 series. All the Drummond Golf team members from Osborne Park and Cannington stores joined in the competition and fun on the day, with Wayne Tardrew dressing up for the occasion in a custom-made pair of “Pink Oakley” golf shoes. The “Best Dressed Team” was awarded to Steve Scott, Les Fuhri, Ryan Addison and Whitney Hiller - looking sharp in the very latest Oakley summer range – 10 points Team! The final Team Stableford scores saw 1st, 2nd, 3rd place tied on 54 points and the Individual Stableford Division closely contested with 1st and 2nd on 42 points, requiring a countback in both divisions. Congratulations to Neil Cuthberston, our 2007 WA State Champion and Winner of the Overall Individual Stableford Division – Score 42 points (on countback).

VIC – WOODLANDS GOLF CLUB - 30TH OCTOBER 2007 VIC STATE FINAL We returned once again to Woodlands Golf Club for our 2007 VIC State Final. Woodlands is one of Victoria’s oldest private clubs (celebrating 100 years) and has been the host venue for major tournaments such as the Victorian Open Championships. One the day, we enjoyed fine and sunny weather conditions, and the “Pin” positions set by Anthony certainly tested the skills of all. In the morning, players enjoyed a warm-up on the driving range with product promotions provided by Titliest/ Cobra, Cleveland, Ping & Powerbilt and Flexiway provided promotional tee-packs and caps as giveaways. A final field of 130 players then enjoyed a pre-event Buffet lunch followed by the competition round in the afternoon. Back in the Clubhouse at the completion of the round, Chris Fox from McLaren Vale III Associates sponsored complimentary glasses of wine and cheese plates to celebrate the release of their new 2006 “Four Play” (distributed exclusively to Drummond Club members) and their premium range of Squid Ink Shiraz. It was the perfect accompaniment after a hard day on the golf course! Congratulations to Danny Torgersen, our 2007 VIC State Champion and Winner of the Overall Individual Stableford Division - Score 38 points.

•••••••••• Hi Lee, I just wanted to let you know about my trip your Company helped me organise to the Gold Coast (29/10 – 4/11/07). The accommodation I stayed at was 1st class. The Acapulco Apartments are situated in a good spot on the Gold Coast and easy to get to other places. The golf courses I played on were great. I enjoyed playing all of them, even though I didn’t play too well, I still enjoyed playing the courses. (Robina Woods, The Colonial and Royal Pines Resort). The ultimate experience is the Spa’s Flotation Pool, which is the only one of its kind in Australia. Unlike usual float tanks, this pool with its beautiful domed starry ceiling and salt drenched waters allows you to float in total peace and privacy. You can also enjoy a “Couple’s Float” with your loved one – a great way to relax both body and mind!

The championship course is complemented with an extensive range of practice facilities including; the Golf Improvement Centre, a chipping green that offers a wide variety of shots with an adjoining practice bunker, a practice putting green and a 260 metre all-weather, floodlit driving range, so when the day is over and night falls, turn to the driving range for a practice hit. Golf Clinics are offered daily and the resort’s PGA Teaching Professionals are available for private lessons on the driving range, the chipping green or on the course. Drummond Golf Continues it’s Support of Australian Golf 2007 MFS Australian Open Wrap Up Congratulations to Craig Parry who shot a final round of three under par 69 to claim his 23rd career victory and the 2007 MFS Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney. The 41 year old veteran Australian golfer finished the tournament on 11 under par 277, to win by a shot from Nick O’Hern, Won Joon Lee and American Brandt Snedeker. This year’s event did not disappoint golf fans, with four days of excellent golf and the highly publicised par three 11th stadium hole, sponsored by Drummond Golf and Oakley. Following criticism from Robert Allenby, after being heckled at the Australian Masters, the Victorian got into the spirit of the stadium hole on the second day. As he approached the 11th green crowd, Allenby wore bright red earmuffs (see photo right) – a joke that was well received by the crowd. Andrew is an engineer by trade and prior to joining Drummond Golf he worked as Manager of a very successful engineering company in Victoria. He started in the business in 1991 and left in 2006. He was instrumental in the growth of the business and significantly increased turnover during this time. Naomi has been in the retail game since 1977. She worked for a national fashion retailer for 20 years and learnt all aspects of the business through varied roles such as Store Manager, Stock Controller, Buyer, Retail Operations Manager and National Sales Manager. Chris worked with the National Australia Bank for almost 15 years in the global financial markets of London, LA, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Sydney. Following the NAB, he worked for an International Bank where he met his business partner Jeff Pyle and one day whilst sitting in Denver Airport they discussed running a retail golf store. The rest is history! Pilates for Golf by David Grech, Pilates Instructor, Golf Pilates Trainer Dip H Sc. Medical Massage

The last article (shown here) focused on the long term difference Pilates has made to Frank’s chronic lower back injury. We saw how over time his posture changed and his address position improved dramatically. His handicap had improved and he was playing more golf. From a broad perspective the key components to Frank’s program have always been: • Core stability & spine mobility. • Flexibility of the hips shoulders and spine. • Strengthening the abdominals, shoulders, legs and upper back. However no single exercise achieved these results for Frank. The exercises in this article are an example of just some of the work we have used to achieve the level of improvement he has made. These results with Frank and all my clients were achieved through the combination of exercises both at home and in the Pilates studio that addresses the individual needs of the client. Each exercise has its individual purpose but also has components that combine with other exercises to achieve the desired results, be it reduced back pain, increased flexibility, core stability and much more. Frank’s studio and home programs were designed in a way so that in his sessions he would always stabilise his lower back first through “BASIC” abdominal work. This enabled him to then safely begin to stretch his spine out. After this we would do more strengthening work around his shoulders and hips and progressively moved into more dynamic stretches and strengthening work. Each part of his program was designed to build on what he had just done and assist him in doing the next exercise. Taking this into consideration, lets look at how the 3 exercises in the pictures combined to enable Frank to improve in all areas.. Exercise 1. helped Frank to strengthen his spine so that over time he was able to sit up tall. This took pressure off his upper and lower Spine and his neck. He also developed the shoulder strength and stability to maintain the posture for long periods. 1. Exercise 2. worked the abdominals, however without the Spinal work from exercise 1 he would not have been able to support his upper body and spine. Therefore, he would have increased the risk of re injuring his lower back. So Exercise 2 taught him how to apply the spinal work he had already been taught. This enabled him to strengthen his abdominals and continue to strengthen his spine. Exercise 3. when done correctly, helped to stretch out Frank’s entire body. To achieve the best results in this exercise the spine work in the previous two exercises needed to be applied. Without the correct upper body alignments the majority of the lower body stretch was lost. The more we could stretch Frank out in exercise 3 the easier it became for him to do exercises 1 and 2 over time, therefore, creating a continual loop between the 3 exercises. This process is a continual ongoing development, As Frank improved, we did not just give him new exercises but reworked the sequence he did the exercises in. So as he was learning to do exercise 1 kneeling, we started with exercise 2 to get his abdominals working, then exercise 3 to stretch out his hips making it easier for him to balance himself while he did the work required in exercise 1.

Too this day we still use these 3 exercises in his program. We have added rotational components to the exercises, increased the load and made the stretches more dynamic but 3 years on they still play key role for Frank in keeping him active Taking all this into consideration if we look at his spine, we can see how all the exercises have taught Frank how to apply the spine work so that he maintains good spinal posture over the ball. Thus, taking the pressure off his back and leaving his spine in the optimal position for a strong free flowing golf swing.
