In the Prep School, our students are challenged and inspired to become the best versions of themselves. Academic Excellence with Enhanced British Curriculum

In the Prep School, students make exciting steps to become more independent and develop their confidence and engagement. In core subjects we follow the Cambridge international curriculum which sets a global standard for education, and is recognised worldwide. The breadth of our curriculum demonstrates our commitment to developing the ‘whole child’ and inspires our students to find the joy and wonder of learning. In the broader curriculum we work within and beyond the principles of the UK National Curriculum and enhance the rigorous academic focus with outstanding opportunities for co-curricular activities.

Each student is stimulated, challenged, and supported, and their teachers aim to expand their developing minds in order to achieve their full potential. Our highly skilled class teachers and subject specialists bring learning to life. The curriculum at Denla British School emphasises the importance of English language, Mathematics, the Sciences, Thai language and Culture, Mandarin, and entrepreneurship and innovation, complemented by an excellent programme for the Arts, Sports, Music and Drama.

The Transition

We pride ourselves on making sure everyone enjoys their time at DBS. Well-being is a top priority, and we are all involved, starting with pastoral time in small groups at the start of each day. There is a fantastic family feel at the school, and students enjoy the connections within their class, year group and house, where we know that everyone can flourish. Our calendar of house activities sparks a healthy sense of competition, and students enjoy celebrating success, whether that be their own or others.

Our parents are also very much part of the community, and we enjoy working closely with each family to ensure the very best for the children.

Ladder to Success

In Years 3&4 the class teachers have the opportunity to teach across the core subjects and create a supportive and nurturing environment for the students to grow. Our teachers use their excellent knowledge of the students strengths and areas for development to ensure excellent progress for all.

When students progress into Year 5, they are taught by subject specialists across the curriculum and relish the challenge of this. Those who have progressed excellently in academics could reserve their places in exclusive clubs: Cartesian Society, Beacon Core Programme, Friends of Fibonacci, and Lunchtime clubs.

Journey to Universities and Beyond

Students moving on from the Prep School are supported on their pathway to university as we guide, nurture, prepare them to leave in their pursuit of higher education and future careers.

Leadership

Students are not only active learners but can also be dynamic leaders. DBS students are offered leadership opportunities across different age ranges, including School Council Representatives, House Captains, Play Time Leaders and study buddies. By embracing the opportunities to grow their skills in a healthy, productive, and appropriate direction, these students can become the global leaders of tomorrow.

Pastoral Care and Safeguarding

Our students are nurtured to become independent and resilient individuals equipped with life skills during their time at school, ensuring that they are well equipped to thrive in future. Each individual is supported through Pastoral and Safeguarding Care by passionate and committed staff who work to the best practice of the UK Department of Education, the Ministry of Education in Thailand, and the International Task Force on Child Protection.

Residential Trips

Annually, students will take a trip away from their homes, under the care and supervision of DBS staff, as part of the Outdoor Education activities programme. Our focus is on providing unique experiences and expanding our students’ horizons. They relish the opportunity to create lasting memories with their friends and teachers.

Prep School is a crucial time where children develop a mindset for learning. We encourage all of the children to try everything and place no limits on what they can achieve. We work hard to ensure that our children understand that a positive approach to the learning process will help them to become curious and passionate learners for life.
