Company History 1972 Bellwether established in San Francisco plant with the goal of creating quality, thoughtfully constructed, affordable cycling apparel.
2004 Profile Design: Carbon Stryke – official Aerobar of the Ironman Triathlon World Championships
1984 Bellwether Women’s collection launches. Bellwether was the first to dedicate an entire line to the female cyclist.
2006 Profile Design: Worlds first stem mounted aerobar released (Lightning Stryke).
1988 Profile Design enters triathlon market with the Aero I & II. 1986 Bellwether Mountain Specific Collection of Apparel. With the first Repack races held in Marin County, we were influenced by this new genre of cycling.
2006 Titec sponsors Mountain States Cup (Official Gravity Component Sponsor) and Ontario Cup race series. Sponsorship is continued through 2008 and beyond. 2007 Profile Design: Carbon X 1.5. Ridden to victory by Ironman™ world champions in 2007 & 2008.
1992 Titec founded and first product released, the revolutionary 118Ti bar. Which remains in the line to this day.
2008 Bellwether Elite CS competition series line is unveiled. Body hugging and moisture wicking, this enthusiast line of road biking apparel is the most technically advanced garments we’ve ever produced.
1994 Titec: Beserkr “downhill” saddle introduced. Titec embraces the philosophy of performance and quality is more important than minimal weight.

Technical Chamois One of the easiest things you can do to improve cycling comfort is using a good pair of bicycling shorts. That is why all Bellwether cycling shorts utilize high-tech chamois with impressive features such as an anatomic fit, and moisture-wicking fabrics. ECS Elite ECS Elite chamois uses three combined foam densities Thicker and higher density foam is used in contact areas, lower density foams are used around the periphery for added stretch, comfort and protection. Our MLP II chamois incorporates a 3D welded design with 4-way stretch. Perforated foam is contoured in a one piece design for improved comfort breathability. The result eliminates friction and pressure points while allowing the chamois to move with the rider.
The MVT Elite combines welded channels in a 4-way stretch, onepiece seamless construction, which allow chamois to contour to the body. Perforated foam keeps the rider comfortable and dry.
Our MVT is loaded with features not normally found at this price range. A welded, seamless one-piece design and 4-way stretch chamois ensure rider comfort and maximum performance.
Bellwether Comfort Control System transfer is achieved. The properties of each fabric are chosen to support the thermoregulation of the human body to insure maximum performance and optimal comfort.

Clothing physiology is the interaction between the layers of clothing and the body’s own micro climate. Air temperature, humidity, skin temperature, rate of perspiration, and other factors all effect clothing performance. Technical fabrics and products only work well if they allow the body to achieve equilibrium between the input and output of heat and moisture.

Facts about Lycra Power
Test Results of Athletes garments designed with Lycra Power
• Our shorts and bibs with Lycra Power contain a minimum of 20 percent Lycra, providing optimum stretch and recovery with minimum weight
• Studies at the Centre for Sports Medicine at Pennsylvania State University demonstrated that athletes wearing Lycra Power garments achieved an average of 12 percent improvement in performance levels
• Properly designed garments completely cover the thigh, from the hip to just above the knee, providing firm yet gentle muscle compression
• Tests conducted at the ETH Laboratory for Biomechanics in Zurich showed that keeping the muscles at an optimum temperature with Lycra Power improves performance and delays exhaustion. Both performance and endurance benefit from a reduction in the amount of energy required to cool the body core. Further tests prove that the muscle compression provided by Lycra Power garments can improve accuracy of movement up to 73 percent.

We are always looking for ways to improve athletic performance. For that reason, we have incorporated Lycra Power as a component of our Aenergia™ fabric. Used in our high-end shorts and bibs, Lycra Power has more stretch and recovery than regular Lycra, which provides muscle compression. This reduces oscillation of muscles, lowers muscles fatigue, heightens body awareness and sharpens muscle response. All of which have been proven through scientific study to extend muscular endurance and efficiency of movement.
Go Green! Bellwether believes it is our social responsibility to lessen our impact on the environment as much as possible. That is the reason we’ve developed Eco-Dry fabric for our new product line. Eco-Dry™ fabric is made out of polyester yarns, which in turn, are made of recycled plastic bottle flakes (called PET). Research has shown that over 90% of a single PET bottle can be recycled to polyester yarns. In addition, during the process of production, PET recycled yarns consume less energy than normal polyester yarns do. As a result, advantages of Eco-Dry include energy savings, less water waste, less air pollution and reduced landfill space. Eco-Dry fabric is developed as a meaningful approach to environmental improvement. Even better, it is highly breathable, moisture wicking and quick to dry. All of which make Eco-Dry the perfect choice for our new Alterra collection of men’s and women’s mountain bike jerseys.

X-Forma uses a lower denier (high filament) yarn on the outside to draw moisture through from the higher denier (low filament) yarn on the inside. In addition the inside yarn transports water through its capillary action. This dual combination multiplies the moisture management performance keeping you comfortable and dry.
Xfactor – The most technical mesh fabric we use has Mircopoly yarns which spread water droplets over a larger surface area to allow for quick evaporation, while open knit design maintains significant airflow also accelerating the drying process.

We design garments with fabric that accelerates the evaporating process by pulling moisture from the wearer’s skin, and onto the fabrics outer surface for quick evaporation. Lightweight durable stretch mesh used in outerwear, to provide excellent breathability, and moisture transfer. A proprietary tanning process is used to produce extremely soft, water repellent, and breathable leather. Pittards leather provides excellent grip, and abrasion resistance. Powerful, Stretchable PS3000 is a nylon/Lycra blended fabric designed to support muscles during exercise, helping to decrease fatigue while maximizing muscle efficiency. Unique spun micro fibers create loft which quickly absorbs moisture and transfers it away from the skin to the exterior layers of the fabric for quick evaporation. Technical, quick-drying hydrophobic micropoly yarns speed up the evaporating process by drawing moisture away from the skin and onto the fabrics outer layers. Brushed inner-surface is extremely soft. Sanded nylon/lycra construction provides luxurious comfort and thermal properties while maintaining great muscle support and moisture management. Brushed heavyweight Thermal-tech fabric maintains incredible warmth as well as breathability for the best in winter-weight apparel performance. Thermaldress fabrics unique construction traps body heat within the soft brushed inner surface of the fabric while transferring out moisture for quick evaporation. The original “warmth without bulk” offering tremendous warmth in a lightweight design. Thinsulate provides over 12 times the warmth of down and nearly twice that of synthetics when equal thicknesses are compared. Silky smooth Titan PS is a powerful, stretchable nylon/ Lycra blended fabric which is engineered to support muscles through compression which can significantly reduce fatigue and decrease recovery time by eliminating muscle vibrations during hard exercise. Technical soft shell laminate provides a stretchable outer shell which is completely wind, waterproof and breathable, then bonded to an inner fleeced material for additional warmth and comfort. Windproof and water resistant breathable membrane which is extremely soft, stretchable and lightweight. Material provides reflective properties to enhance rider visibility. Lower denier yarn on the outside draws moisture through from the higher denier yarn on the inside. In addition the inside yarn transports water through its capillary action. This combination multiplies the moisture management performance keeping you comfortable and dry. Mircopoly yarns spread water droplets over a larger surface area to allow for quick evaporation. Open-knit design maintains significant airflow also accelerating the drying process. Waterproof, breathable fabric. Zenith XT is a unique 2-layer design that does not need a liner. Inner surface treatment allows the breathable innovative fabric to have a smooth dry touch, while keeping excess bulk to a minimum.
