Waikato Stud Matamata Swifts v Tauranga Boys WaiBOP Premiership - 2.45pm, Saturday May 23
A Few Kind Words I don’t think many of us can remember the last time we played a league game at the Domain. For those old buggers with fading memories, such as myself, it was way back on April 4 when we beat Otumoetai - that’s seven weeks without a home game in the Premiership. 2015 Thankfully the Domain saw a bit of action two weeks ago Management when we took on Waiuku in the ASB Chatham Cup. We Committee acquitted ourselves well, particularly during the closing stages when we gave chasing down a four goal deficit a Patron good go. Jack Poole For Paul and the reserves it will be even longer between drinks. The reserves have had two home games deferred President due to their opponents being involved in the cup, and Julie Clothier have drawn the bye today. When they finally host Tokoroa Vice-President on June 13 it will have been ten weeks since they played Malcolm Raynel at home. The positive, of course, of all of this is the run Treasurer of home games both teams will have at the end of the Dave Mann season. This could be crucial come the final wash. Secretary The Swifts Ladies have been sighted far more regularly at Debbie Sankey the Domain in recent weeks and have started their season well. They have successfully defended the new Carter Club Captain Memorial Challenge Cup twice and are still unbeaten. Well Ronan Costello done to Denice, Patrice, Ana and the team for their efforts. Committee I’d like to draw your attention to the opposite page. The Pete Challis club has had all sorts of ups and downs over the years, Ana Paterson which have led to varying results in different areas. Like Junior Convenor any small organisation, we’ve found ourselves being Cathy O’Callaghan personality driven, out of necessity, and sometimes even Club Development Mgr operating from month to month without even so much as Dwayne Barlow some basic planning. The management committee is working on changing that. The strategic information you see on page 3 is the result of some planning work that was done at the back-end of 2014, with feedback and input from a cross section of club members. Now this stuff is established we need to start living it, each in our own way. Easier said than done, but at PICTURED least we have some targets now. Let me know if you have Front Cover The Domain’s a great any questions on any of it. place to play football when the sun’s out.

Carter Memorial Women’s Challenge Cup Presented by Matamata Swifts AFC
Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies have already seen off the challenge’s of Cambridge White and Mangakino United for the Carter Memorial Challenge Cup. Their next defence will be on June 7 in what is expected to be an epic encounter against current league leaders, Hamilton Wanderers. The Carter Memorial Women’s Challenge Cup was donated by the local Carter family for women’s competition. It will be introduced as a challenge cup, similar to the men’s Federation Challenge Shield. The cup will be up for grabs at all home league and cup games of the holders. The team holding the cup at the end of each season will have their name engraved for that year. As the Carter Memorial Women’s Challenge Cup was an initiative of Matamata Swifts AFC and the Carter family, Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies will be the initial holders.
