The organization, in conjunction with its sister AAUW chapters in Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach, offers DSC students the AAUW STEM Scholar of the Year: $750 scholarship to a female student who is a resident of Volusia or Flagler County and interested in pursuing a career in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
Other AAUW scholarships include:
• AAUW Daytona Beach Branch Scholarship: $800 scholarship for a new or continuing student. Scholarship recipient must be a female resident of the greater Daytona Beach area for at least one year.
• AAUW Flagler County Branch Scholarship: $1,200 scholarship for a new or continuing female student who intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
The chapters also send students to an annual AAUW National Conference for Women Student Leaders, one of the premier leadership events for young women held annually at the University of Maryland.
Since 1987, local AAUW chapters have awarded nearly 200 scholarships to DSC students.
