EXPLORE THE SCIENCE OF SOUND AT ADVENTURE SCIENCE CENTER

ere’s something new and exciting at Adventure Science Center (ASC). It’s the latest installment of ASC’s multi-year museum overhaul; a new, permanent exhibit called soundBox. SoundBox opens Monday, July 1. It allows kids to explore the science of music and sound through 14 active, hands-on social experiences — all while celebrating Nashville’s “Music City” roots. Kids are sure to have fun creating their own musical tracks while visualizing notes and beats on glowing walls, or while adjusting pitch and volume sounds and tones in full-body, immersive experiences. Step up to the microphone to where you can sing or speak to see your vocal patterns on a digital wall. You can also scan your fingerprints and convert the distinctive ridges into unique songs and animations you can share with friends.

Next to soundBox, you’ll also experience the grand re-opening of Innovation Incubator. This high-tech, STEAM-rich environment uses hands-on learning, advanced technologies and free discovery to foster innovation and creativity. This area allows kids to explore the worlds of coding and robotics, among other things. “The hands-on skills that provide relevant experience for careers in the 21st century can be explored thoroughly in the Innovation Incubator, and we are excited to offer this opportunity to people of all ages and backgrounds,” says Steve Hinkley, ASC’s president and CEO. ASC is located at 800 Fort Negley Blvd., Nashville. ASC is open daily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission is $15.95 adults, $11.95 ages 2 - 12. Call 615-862-5160 or visit adventuresci.org.
