PREDICTING THE FUTURE TRENDS OF PROTEIN 'Plant Indulgence’ is an emerging trend, brands must deliver on taste and texture to meet the growing needs of consumers. 1. REAL INGREDIENTS Consumers are motivated by the perceived health benefits of plant-based alternatives, consumers are seeking news ways to be healthy but do not want to compromise on taste. Consumers are increasingly conscious over the ingredients found in plant-based products and are seeking out natural and recognisable options. 2. BOLD FLAVOURS
Consumers are craving the next on-trend flavour profiles and expect flavourful experiences from plant-based products . Younger consumers are more open to embracing global flavours. 3. EVOLVING PROTEINS Product innovation will seek to evolve, expanding the source of protein, to meet the changing demands of consumers. Climate conscious consumers will look for sustainable ways to include meat in their diets. Think blended meat and veg protein sources, mushrooms and lentils. REAL & RECOGNISABLE INGREDIENTS The unrecognizable and artificial are being rejected in favour of cleaner, more recognizable ingredients.
Consumers are increasingly substituting healthier, ‘better-for-you’ versions of products in place of their usual indulgent treats, with 85% of consumers believing that a healthy diet can still include indulgence.
