A. My job role involves analysing buildings from an energy perspective and determining what specific building services to employ with the goal of minimising energy usage and carbon emissions.

This contributes to the progression of achieving Net Zero in the future. I also carry out on-site surveys which assists with how to maximise the performance of building services.

Q. How did you get into the industry?

A. After completing University, I wanted a career involving engineering with energy, so I sent my CV to Davies Partnership.

During the interview I was made aware of the Sustainability Department which got my interest, and I secured my current role as a Sustainability Consultant.

Q. What advice would you give to your younger self?

A. Get as much experience and advice as you can whilst possible.

Do not just focus on specific aspects of your job role - try to engage and communicate with people of other disciplines on projects to gain further knowledge and perspective.

Q. What has been your favourite project to work on and why?

A. My favourite project to work on was a new build project which involved analysing different building services scenarios in an apartment block.

I enjoyed coming up with a methodological way of determining the best strategy to optimise the minimisation of the energy usage and carbon emissions on the project.

Q. What do you enjoy most about working for Davies Partnership?

A. I feel like the work culture is extremely positive and motivating.

Everyone is approachable and are willing to assist you with any aspect of your working day which is a great benefit to my career progression.

Q. If you weren’t an engineer, what would you be?

A. I think I would have chosen to go down the path of a computer programmer.

I have enjoyed developing programs on a small scale for engineering calculations, so I think that would have been my second career choice after engineering.
