About Us: Matchitt describes the story across 35 drawings revealing an evolution, or passage, from destruction through to redemption. He employs kowhaiwhai and tukutuku patterning to reiterate the cultural/personal context for the drawings. I Para Matchitt, shown here, was employed as an art adviser by the department and began to follow Tovey's suggestion. Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T훮maki is the largest art institution in New Zealand, with a collection numbering over 15,000 works. These include major holdings of New Zealand historic, modern and contemporary art, and outstanding works by M 훮ori and Pacific Island artists, as well as European painting, sculpture and print collections ranging in date from 1376 to the present day.
