Don’t wait to enjoy life again. A full day of music, talk and debate will burst into action on the banks of the lee. The full First Fortnight experience rolls into the Triskel Arts Centre with music from the Claddagh Rogues, talk and insight from Dr Pat Bracken and much more besides.

Along the way they battled their demons to consistently produce passionate music rooted in their troubled lives. James, 44, spent most of his early life in prison, under psychiatric care and homeless on the streets of Cork. Mags experienced addiction and homelessness. New songs on this latest album are James’ heartfelt tribute to fellow founder member Mags, who passed away recently, aged just 44. This day of events is rooted in the real and seeks to shed light on the lesser told tales in the mental health storybook.

James O’Flynn’s ‘Journey’ just got longer, and better. It was a hard road travelled, taking this misfit musician through turbulent times, rescued by his extraordinary talent, then touched by tragedy. The band was born out of Cork’s Simon Community, which cares for the homeless and those at risk.
