TELE Ciò che è forma è vuoto, ciò che è vuoto è forma. Possiamo partire da questo pensiero del Sutra del Cuore, per il lavoro di Shozy. Disegnare tele su delle tele, delle tele disfatte, bucate, delle tele imballate in malo modo. Tele su tele... Quando ho scoperto il lavoro dell’artista mi sono ritrovato, immerso in un universo che richiamava i nostri Burri e Fontana. Il lavoro di Shozy prende radici dai concetti di quegli artisti, ma gli stessi venivano affrontati in modo opposto, non in modo materico e di azione, ma in modo minuzioso e dettagliato, iper-realistico. Un mondo in cui la tela rimane intatta, piatta senza alterare le sue dimensioni, all’opposto dei nostri avanguardisti che invece volevano disfarla, alterarla ed andare oltre le 2 dimensioni della bianca tela. Il minuzioso lavoro dell’artista russo, molto tecnico, si oppone a quel pensiero di lavoro, ma allo stesso modo ci immerge in una visione ‘forma, non forma, vuoto, pieno’. Saranno sicuramente i posteri a giudicare questi lavori, ma intanto immergetevi nelle ‘Tele’ di Shozy. Artista proveniente dalla Russia si presenta con il suo primo solo show in Europa e prima muro in Italia realizzato nei giorni scorsi a Terracina per l’ottava edizione di Memorie Urbane. Shozy oltre ad aver affrontato studi artistici, proviene dal graffitismo, ha lavoro molto su treni ed illegali con il proprio tag, per poi approdare sui muri, dopo profonde riflessioni, dapprima con lavori in 3D più ‘classici’ che poi si sono evoluti in qualcosa di diverso, in un linguaggio personale che non cessa di maturare, che in buona parte oggi possiamo ammirare in questa mostra. CANVASES Form is emptiness, emptiness is form. We can start to talk about Shozy’s work quoting this motto from the Heart Sutra. Canvases drawn on canvases: damaged, perforated, carelessly wrapped canvases. Canvases on canvases… When I discovered this artist’s work, I found myself surrounded by a universe that made me think of Burri and Fontana. Shozy’s work is rooted in the concepts developed by these artists, but tackles them in the opposite way; his works are neither tactile nor gestural, but thorough, detailed, hyper-realistic. A world in which the canvas stays intact and flat, its dimensions being not altered, differently from our avant-gardists, who wanted to take the white canvas apart, to alter it and go beyond its two-dimensional nature. The Russian artist’s careful work is very technical and stands opposed to that thought; yet, it likewise plunges us into a vision of “form, non-form, empty, full”. Certainly, posterity will judge his works, but, for the moment, immerse yourselves in Shozy’s “Canvases”. The artist from Russia presents his first solo show in Europe; over the past days, he participated in the eighth edition of the Urban Memories exhibition in Terracina, Italy, with a wall art work. In addition to studying art, Shozy also devoted to graffiti writing, working a lot on trains and painting his own tag (also illegally). Later on, after deep reflection, he started painting on walls: after more classical, three-dimensional works, he then developed something different, a personal idiom that continues maturing and which we can observe for the most part in this exhibition.
