SNOW POLO TREMBLANT INTERNATIONAL FEBRUARY 25, 26 and 27, 2016
HISTORY The Snow Polo tradition started in St. Moritz, Switzerland where the first tournament was held in 1985, counting amongst its sponsors prestigious brands such as Veuve Clicquot, Ralph Lauren and BMW. The Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz was and remains to this day, one of the most exclusive events in Europe and is the highlight of the St. Moritz winter season, attracting over 12,000 spectators in 2015. Inspired by the Swiss success, events are now being held in Aspen, Cortina and Tianjin where crowds have been known to reach over 10,000 people. Canadians are no strangers to high goal winter polo competitions. In fact team Canada made it to the quarter final against France at the 2015 Snow Polo World Cup in China.
These Polo events attract a very prestigious crowd and are hosted in premium ski resorts around the world. Bringing such a unique experience to Mont-Tremblant, Canada, appeared to be a natural fit for our organizing committee and the first edition held in 2015 exceeded our expectations. Over 2500 spectators attended the very first Snow Polo event on a Canadian frozen lake in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. With the resort’s reputation as one of the top ski destinations of North America, the chosen location to welcome and gather this sophisticated international crowd was evident. The locals were introduced to this incredible sport and the resounding enthusiasm towards the experience promised to carry on with international events announced for 2016, 2017 and 2018.
As one of the reporters attending the event simply expressed it: Watch it, support it, live it in Mont-Tremblant!

MONT-TREMBLANT, QUEBEC, CANADA
Mont-Tremblant is a town in the Laurentian mountains of Québec, Canada, approximately 130 kilometres (81 miles) north-west of Montreal and 140 kilometres (87 miles) north-east of Ottawa with easy access through Montreal, Ottawa and the Mont-Tremblant International Airport. The region is famous for its ski resort, Tremblant, whose name was inspired by local Algonquins who referred to it as the “trembling mountain”. Tremblant was voted the number one ski resort in eastern North America by Ski magazine 16 years running. The resort offers everything you need to enjoy the perfect vacation. The sheer number of activities that are available in the area for children and adults will delight and everyone is assured a good time. Winter activities include downhill skiing, cross country skiing, skate skiing, snowshoeing, skating, tubing, dog sledding, snow buggies, fat biking, tree adventures, zip lines, alpine touring, ice fishing, ice climbing and heli tours. There are indoor/outdoor aqua clubs and spas, a world-class observatory at Domaine St. Bernard and many shops and restaurants, as well as a number of events such as Tremblant’s 24h of Skiing and now, the addition of the international Snow Polo tournament. Mont-Tremblant delivers that French Canadian “Joie de Vivre”. Experience Europe in the Eastern Standard Time Zone.

A WORLD-CLASS TOURNAMENT... LIVE THE THREE-DAY EXPERIENCE ! With the resounding success of the 2015 venture, the organizing committee decided to bring the Snow Polo Tremblant to another level: More action, more supporters and more games under the picture-perfect blue sky with the mountains in the background. The 2016 edition will introduce a night-time event as both final matches will take place Saturday under the stars. It will be possible to enjoy the tournament in addition to delicious culinary offerings and refreshments to appreciate the Snow Polo action-packed field game. More than a location to gather, the Snow Polo Tremblant International tournament promises to be the perfect opportunity for a stream of entertainment during three whole days with a Gala Dinner and a post-game celebration at the Mont-Tremblant Casino.
Guests will be able to indulge themselves and appreciate the game from bleachers built specifically for the event. The 2016 edition is expected to attract more than 300 VIP attendees and as many as 7,000 spectators. In line with the success resulting from Snow Polo Tremblant in 2015, among the guests, many will be dignitaries, Canadian entrepreneurs, local and international media, celebrities and sponsors. The media impact will play a key role as this will be an interesting asset for the region, in both short and long term with a growing visibility.

FOUR TEAMS OF INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS, ONE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION Part of the Snow Polo Tremblant International tournament attraction is the pristine setting and world-class participating teams. An exhilarating competition that rises in intensity every day as the tournament unfolds, leading to the final match under the stars on the third and final day, Saturday, February 27, 2016. The winning team will be immortalized as it raises the International Snow Polo Tremblant trophy at the end of this high intensity tournament.

THE ORGANIZERS The promoters for this event are Herbert Ratsch of Sotheby’s International Realty Québec HR; Marc Perreault of Landco, a company that conducted several projects in the region, among them, Rabaska and L'Aiglon; and Justin Fogarty, co-founder of the International Lawyers Polo Association and who has hosted tournaments in Buenos Aires, Madrid, Toronto, Paris and Dubai. All three are heavily committed to and involved in Tremblant’s event and wish to endorse Snow Polo Tremblant internationally. Herb, Marc and Justin aim to have the same success as the other Winter Polo events held in Switzerland, the US and China. The initial and ongoing objective is to attract followers of Polo competitions from around the world and to entice and educate the Canadian public on this magnificent sporting event. Herbert Ratsch, co-founder and Promoter Snow Polo Tremblant Herb had always found the sport of Polo intriguing. Four years ago he met several players that had been on the winning team in St. Moritz World Cup Snow Polo event. Through their conversations the idea of a Snow Polo event at Tremblant started to take shape.
Having been one of the first brokers with Sotheby’s in the province of Quebec, he spearheaded the opening of the Mont-Tremblant office in order to better serve the Laurentian region. As an established real estate broker, Herb knew the right people that he needed to talk to to get this idea off the ground and turn it into reality. Prior to moving to Mont-Tremblant, Herb was an integral part of the senior management team at Starter Canada, working closely with major sports leagues such as the NFL, MLB, NHL and CFL that has allowed him to make lasting business contacts. For the last 20 years, he has immersed himself in the luxury real estate world, having been the Vice President of Intrawest’s Mont-Tremblant Resort Reservation Network, the resort’s real estate sales director and vacation rentals director. He has also been on the board of the Fondation Tremblant for the past 12 years.

Fondation Tremblant Young people are our hope and our future. In the Mont-Tremblant area and the Laurentians of Quebec, there are underprivileged children and children of great promise… sometimes, of course, one and the same. With just a small boost from us, they’ll be on their way to developing their full potential. School breakfast and lunchbox programs, family support organizations and organizations that battle adolescent drug use, summer camps and sports equipment…. These are just some of the ways that the Fondation Tremblant, thanks to you, gives kids that needed boost.
6
Prince’s Charities Canada The work of Prince’s Charities Canada (PCC) is focused on The Prince of Wales’s core interests which have been well-established in the UK for more than 30 years. These include improving the lives of disadvantaged youth, education, responsible business, improving the built environment, regeneration of heritage, environmental sustainability and support for the armed forces.
