Introduction Stratumseind, located at the south side of the city centre, is the most prominent nightlife area in Eindhoven. In weekend night, this bar street can attract over 20,000 people to come here (data from the Living Lab). However, increasing number of people consider that the street is crowded and unsafe to drunk people. =100due Visitors Bars The unbalance between day and night could also be =100Visitors enhanced. In order to ameliorate those Food problems as Bars well as improve the living quality of the street, a new public space design was carried out. Through data collection and analysis, the proper decision could be made. There are 55 bars and 16 restaurants on Stratumseind, which attract more than 15000 visitors everyday. At night, most visitors enter this street from the side of city centre or Dommel River.

Does the centre of Eindhoven lack a connection to green public space?
Green spaces result in a better livability during the day. Stratumseind can become the connection between ciry centre, the Dommel vallei, and the parks along the Dommel. To achieve the goal, green spaces are assigned to three locations, where are also the main locations for our urban design. These three locations are distributed almoset equally on the stradumseid, which also means that you could always feel green from the street. For the two bigger locations on the left hand, there will also be trees planted, while only grass will be planted at the spot on the right hand due to its small area. The green spaces can attract people to visit Strtumseind during day time. This could be the solution for balancing the attraction during day and night.

Can Hangouts make the public space more lively?
Added seating spaces are aimed for creating relaxation. These benches are set from the Van Abbe museun to the city center, which will creat a slow route for visitors.
Can hangouts make the public space more lively?
No place to sit and hangout is one of the reasons why the Stratumseind can not attact people during day time. Since people will dance and enjoy the music at the night, they do not really consider if there is a seat or not. However, differerent from the night, people tend to enjoy the weather or hangout with friend during day time. Therefore, a place to seat becomes one of the essential elements for people to choose where to go. The benches are mainly set at four spots. The entrance and the exit of the street, and the bigger areas on the street where you can also enjoy the green space at the same time.

Exits are located near the sides of the street. When an emergency situation happens, remain calm, and follow the light in the sky towards your nearest exit. One of the reasons why people do not feel safe in the crowd is because they can not figure out where the exits are. Therefore the purpose of the design is to provide a reliable instruction for people to tell where the exits are. Since the beacon is shooting the sky, if the residents there are bothered by the beacons, the direction could be changed according to their requirements. The idea of the beacon is from the light show that Philips gave during the glow festivel in 2016. Moreover, The color of the beacon light also changes due to the crowd level. Blue represents quite, green represents normal, yellow represents crowded, and red represnts full. The crowd information can be gathered from the living lab on the street.

Would you like a place to find a bar you like
Creating a digital intervention in the public sphere have a lot of potentials. Screens can be used for several different situations, and can be reprogrammed to be kept up to date. This is the solution of connecting the whole street. These devices are located at the entrance of the street. Mapping and Wifi functions are embedded. These devices are located at the entrance of the street. People could get the relative information about the bar from these devices, such as music type, alcohols that the bar provides, event information, DJ information, and equipments that bars provide. Therefore, people can always go directly to the bars which they are satisfied to. This could also ease the crowd of the street. Besides the information provided from bars. Visitors can also comment on the bars. This will build a efficient connections between bars and visitors, and visitors and visitors.
