SALON DES REFUSÉS 19
MYRTLE PENNINGTON
Salon des Refusés is back at Charles Darwin University Art Gallery with an outstanding exhibition of works submitted to, but not accepted for, the Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Kathy Ramsay, Dick’s Yard (Bow River Country), ochre, natural pigments and Awards. The quality of this acrylic paint on canvas. Image courtesy Warmun Art Centre exhibition demonstrates the superb standard of art being created by Indigenous artists all around the country.
Over the past decade Myrtle Pennington has developed a striking, minimal style with bold symbols that leap out from the vivid background Image courtesy Spinifex Arts Project colours she uses. She paints regularly and seems unaffected by the evoloving styles of the artists around her. Her works are held in national and international collections.
