Picnic Anyone wishing to guarantee a nice hot day should contact the Kiwanis Club to be their sponsor. We moved the date back a month to avoid the hot weather we had experienced in the past and lo and behold we had our first 90 degree day of the year. However, we did have a nice breeze and the humidity was not bad so it turned out to be a very delightful evening. Gordon and Kristie Ballard did a wonderful job of taking care of everyone. Many thanks to Ray Beale for getting the cooker, to Ray, Jay Hayes and John Mason for cooking, to Bob Newnam for getting ice and drinks and to Stetson Franklin and Meredith Meissner for helping stuff the buns with the hamburgers and hot dogs. Also, many thanks to everyone who bought a dessert to share. It was a real pleasure watching Lee and Blair Vogler's son, Kingston, playing on the "beach" that had been created by the recent "flooding of the Dan" and for those that stayed and socialized were treated to a magnificent sunset when looking down the river. A very nice evening for all.

Club Corner Our deepest sympathy to Wilford Cocke who recently lost his wife, Audrey. May His richest blessings be with Wil, his son and two daughters during this time of sorrow. President Tommy has had a busy month presenting the Honor Stoles to the Honor Graduates from GW and Galileo and awarding our Key Club Scholarship to Shelby Ford at the GW Awards program. Dick Inlow did his usual fantastic job recognizing the outstanding foreign language students from GW and Galileo at our first meeting in May. He had the students and their parents mesmerized by his remarks. Henry Andrews fell going UP the steps and broke his ankle. He is in a big cast up to his knees. If you are near 105 Canterbury Road, stop by and chat with Henry Johnson. He would love to see you. Congratulations to President-elect Stetson on graduating from Averett!
