An Illustration a Day

The Brief To create a small illustration a day using Illustrator and Photoshop as the main tools. The aim is to improve on illustration, software skills and time management as well as feature them on social media and dribbble. The content can be a range of things which highlight my interests.

Inspiration There are a lot of illustrators whose work influenced this poroject. These people have informed the illustrations whether in technique, content or style. Since discovering work in a 50s style with a limited colour palette, this has been the preferred method of illustration and has been implemented throughout the project.

The image of the saloon was created by Nik Cann who I worked with over Summer. He introduced me to Photoshop and brushes, so that is what started my this project, so I could practice using these tools and improve.

Content The content varies from hobbies to seasonal events, and a mixture of clean and textured finishes have been used. Photoshop brushes have been a common thing to use throughout the project to practice using them more, as well as the pen tool and tablet. They all show things that I am interested in as a person, as well as what I am capable of as a designer so combine both sides of my life for people to see.

Instagram Since they were being posted on Instagram to advertise them, the format needed to be 1200x1200px. This is an effective way to showcase my work because I am able to tag certain styles and illustration related words that people can then search for and can see what I am capable of.

Dribbble I was invited to join Dribbble, so I began to post the illustrations on there. This meant changing the format to 800x600px. This is an ideal platform to post my work on since people are actively looking for design related posts, and people can therefore easily find me and see what I can do.
