Dance Days 2017 – It Moved You! Notable Investments in Creative Process A special thanks to donors Gordon Fulton, Gordon Gunn, Bob Milne and Janete Vanderveen who underwrote Dance Victoria’s commission of Betroffenheit, now touring around the world. D’Ambrosio Architecture + Urbanism and Fisgard Capital Corporation offered strong support to Out Innerspace Dance Theatre’s creative process for Major Motion Picture, which premiered during Dance Days and will embark on a Canadawide tour in 2016/17.

Help us Reach Our Goal WE’D LIKE TO THANK those of you that have supported Dance Victoria this season. We still have $40,000 left to raise before June 30 so that we can continue to bring the World’s Best Dance to Victoria. The low loonie has had an impact as most international companies are paid in US dollars. Despite that, we have taken a leap of faith because of our commitment to Victoria that we will bring the world’s best. Help put the wind in our sails. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate the support. If you’d like to have more information about where you might direct your donation, please give me (Stephen White) a call at 250-5951829. Your donation will be acknowledged with a charitable tax receipt, in the Dance Victoria 2016/17 House Program, and in our hearts. Thank you.

OUR 7TH ANNUAL DANCE DAYS FESTIVAL (January 22 through 31) was the biggest ever, with sold out shows at the Metro Studio and Dance Victoria Studios, packed classes, and capacity crowds in our studios during Rough Cuts. We welcomed a dozen colleagues from across the country. One of the highlights was a roundtable at the McPherson Playhouse that included the visiting dance presenters and our local dance community. The conversation about the state of the art in Canada was rich, deep and rare. Mark your calendar for the 8th annual Dance Days, January 20 through 29, 2017, and while we’re still some months from confirming all the details, we are very excited to announce that we will be presenting The Mars Hotel from Vancouver’s dumb instrument dance & Handmade Blade. Many of you saw Ziyian Kwan perform still rhyming during our most recent Rough Cuts. Created by Kwan in collaboration with composer Peggy Lee, author PW Bridgman, dance artist Noam Gagnon and musicians Aram Bajakian and JP Carter, The Mars Hotel is a meeting of five elite performers from Vancouver’s contemporary dance and music scenes. Interconnected episodes unravel the word “love” and explore human relationships. Look also for an exciting announcement about a second presentation at the Metro Studio during Dance Days.
