2017 Distinguished Alumna:
Hélène Kazanjian ’78
Kazanjian has completed her tenure with the Dana Hall Board, and she is able to reflect on the work the group has accomplished together. “I think I have brought a leadership style that has been focused on being efficient, both in our meetings and our decisions, and clear about the Board’s role and responsibilities, making sure that we’re taking on issues that are appropriate for the Board.” She cites new or improved facilities and Board development and management as points of pride, and she remains a big supporter of Dana’s leadership initiatives and programs. “This Board is different from a lot of other boards because individual members take a very active role,” Kazanjian said. “There is a lot of collaborative thinking and working. Through that, we have formed close relationships and drawn on each other’s experiences and skills. We have members whose backgrounds are in marketing, finance, counseling, education, administration, law and non-profits. We have parents who are very dedicated, and we have alumnae who provide continuity and a special understanding of the school. It has been very rewarding to be part of a group that works so well together, and I am grateful for all the wonderful friendships.”
Alumnae Council President Lee Ferguson Frechette ’81, P16, 22 presented the Distinguished Alumna Award to Hélène Kazanjian ’78 at the Reunion Banquet in April 2017.
“ I am interested in the education of young women who are confident, who care about our society, and who are leaders, so my work on the Board has been very rewarding.” – Hélène Kazanjian ’78 Former Head of School Caroline Erisman, past Trustee Ginny Caruso P02, 05, Hélène Kazanjian ’78, past Trustee Dana Cole ’73 in May 2014
